As a veteran myself, it warms my heart at the support given to Erskine. A massive well done to all involved. I totally agree on Shankland. He neither fits the managers tactical requirements or a player trading model that badly needs a kick-start. At 3m+, not a chance. Today? Just win Rangers!

Great show gents. Still scratching my head at Cammy’s view on not signing Shankland though. He’d score a raft of goals for us but most strikers would be able to do that!??? When did we last have a consistent 25+ a season goal scorer domestically?

Favourite New Year games for me: 1. 3-0 1975, the day I finally thought my team were going to win the league after my every Rangers year that far saw the other lot win it (Tommy McLean was magnificent) 2. 2-0 1987, the Souness masterclass and when we could see we were back where we belonged 3. 3-1 1997, a flu bug and Erik Bo and here comes 9 in a row 4. 4-2 1994, 2 up in 4 minutes and the peasants revolted 5. 3-1 1978, just for the hilarity of John Greig's goal 6. 1-0 2018, the first win under Gerrard after years of humiliation
