John Smith

This should be cathartic

Jim Milne

A few weeks back Goldson was given a booking for a tackle despite it being called back for offside. Is that not the same as handling the ball when you're given a goal kick? Biggest problem in the team is Dessers. Must be brutally hard as a winger or midfielder knowing when they work hard to win the ball and pass it forward that it's a waste of time. Ridvan putting in a much better performance their than Barasic ever has. Glad to see Clement calling Nick Walsh out.

chris smith

Familiar frailties and officiating ‘problems’. At least we didnt just fold like a pack of cards, but hopefully PC now knows what it will take re: squad changes. Cant say I was surprised with the result and the way the game panned out tbh …

Nathan

Shown them too much respect first half, again. And not knowing when to pass, when too shoot.

james whyte

1 point from the games v them and Sheep is criminal. I back the manager for the title, some of the squad - I dont. He needs backed with what he needs. He set us up to be able to win that today, give him the tools and we will march on. Confident in the gaffer. The Club have to now speak out against the ref, it has to happen now. That was a disgrace today.

Declan Cairns

Get through the killie game with three points, back the manager and get ready to start again 2nd half of the season. Do our job and it’s still a tight gap

Latimer

Can't have passengers on days like today. Step forward Sima and Cantwell.

Miguel Sanchez

Dessers, Cantwell, Sima and McCausland to a lesser degree were hoaching absolutely no composure to pick the right pass or shoot when given glorious chances. The team simply can't overcome the shite bag allegations and Clement needs backed as he's hamstrung by perma-injured and footballers who just can't cut it with rangers.

Latimer

Name checking Walsh at a Celtic AGM seems to have done the trick.

Calum Downham

As the manager said, if it was offside for the pen that should have been a free kick. The fact it was offside is just a convenience that was picked up 30+ minutes later Cantwell was poor in another big game, let McGregor control the game second half. Lack of finishing quality cost us really, nothing to do with 'bottlers'

Gary Shaw

Dessers is easily the worst striker of the last forever amount of years to play for us….Cantwell has to be the biggest myth ever, takes too long on the ball, tries the most pathetic pirouettes in the middle of the park when there options on to pass and counted at least 4 times he passes McGregor on to someone else….no composure in the front players is ultimately what cost us..

Andrew Hind

Wasted good chances and losing goals that are avoidable, as for the referee it's getting ridiculous

Tamus

Shitebags, Habitual and Utter shitebags

Paul

Regarding the refereeing - That is what happens when you maintain a dignified silence. We've had pundits, commentators, and columnists all basically insinuating the game is bent, and we've done nothing to counter it. It isn't dignified, it is weak.

Max Power

I agree, we ARE in a title race. Both teams will lose points. We need to be lose less at the right times. With more quality we could have drawn at the least today. The challenge now is to disprove the bottler tag by going on another run.

Angus MacDonald

Players who are far better on social media than they are under the spotlight….spot on Martyn. He’s nowhere near good enough for us. Some nice touches here and there but when it comes down to it nowhere near enough

Spoon

Comment from David spot on, this wasn’t a collapse or mentality it was simply down to quality. Rightly we all saw the team in good form, guys playing well and a bit of cohesion and maybe got a bit carried away but it was better than a lot of the performances we have turned in at their midden recently. Hopefully it injects a bit of realism in the fans around the quality of some of the guys that have been over hyped like Sima (decent t young player but way to early for all the pay them what they want for him), Cantwell (questionable attitude) and even Ridvan who’s just a thing because he’s not Borna. We have decent players but no more and some of the bombast around guys who go on a streak for a few games is OTT. 100% agree with David on Sterling who I thought was MOTM. Great composure and energy but most of all not in the slightest over awed by the game. I actually would have kept the Dowell / Cantwell / Sterling midfield and not risked Lundstrum who falls, for me anyway, into the over hyped under performs category. Nothing lost today but even a draw would have hurt them and it’s a missed chance, which is the story of the game really. Onwards….

KAD87

This feels a bit harsh in my opinion. Thought we fought well given circumstances. Difference between shitebags and some players not being good enough

David Innes

If Celtic played like that in Europe they’d have lost by 5 or 6 - time and time again we failed to punish their basic errors

Luke

This result has probably done us a favour. We can’t be going into another transfer window thinking what we have is good enough, we need to spend money and we need to spend it now. Some of our forwards are nowhere near the level we need, if we are seriously trying to compete for all 3 domestic trophies. Dessers and Lammers are not an upgrade on Morelos, Itten, Roofe, or Colak.

Jim McCutcheon

Same team with the same issues big Phil certainly has managed to get something from this group but the shortcomings were plane to see today imo ,nothing up front and player's who looked very average at best , we definitely need to strengthen big time and get shot of poor quality 🤷‍♂️

George Cook

Thanks for the pod lads, take it on the chin n move on ❤️⚽️💙

Callum Dinnen

Wouldn't shed any tears if Cantwell left next month. Gets a free pass from the support despite contributing less than Lammers this season.

Scott Cunningham

Am I the only person who thinks Johnston trips Dessers from behind without touching the ball when he was through? Looks clear as day to me and nobody seems to mention it.

Spoon

Good on Tik Tok or Instagram apparently though 👌🏼

William Hughes

The one we had the ball in the net in the first half. What did the ref blow for? Missed it.

Scott Tolmie

I’ve been on my own on this one but sorry for me we really shouldn’t be seeing Balogun again, he has far too many mistakes in him and he’s made plenty in previous games but we have got away with it, soutar is a better player allll day long

Spoon

Mostly quality but I wish we got over the slow starts and letting them play bit of our current mentality. Go at them in the first 20 like we did in last 20 it could be a different game

David Herd

You can sometimes cover up lack of quality with winning mentality and attitude. You can sometimes cover up lack of mentality with quality. But if you lack both, you get days like today. Over and over again.

Brian dowie

If we had a decent striker we would have had at least a point today

Ewan Christie

Get Dessers in the bin. Understand we can’t afford to sign the finished article but players at our level should have at least some core abilities. He has nothing.

Hendi

Need to get the VAR audio released. Absolutely unacceptable.

Stevie lawson

I said ages ago when everyone was waxing lyrical about sima signing permanently,Let’s see how he does in the big games against them instead of doing it against the bread n butter in the league,He shat the bed big style,We haven’t got one player that stands up in the games against them,Look at the wee jap boy they’ve got,Done eff all the day,But one moment of quality and he delivers,

Stevie lawson

M8;Yer bang on,Look at the camera angle from behind the goal,He definitely trips him,I thought I was the only one that noticed it,

Neil Wilson

Largely been covered, not enough quality for us and compliant refereeing. The two red cards would have massively changed the structure of the game and the Balogun incident would have been less likely to happen. I don't get the impression that we would have changed our ideas in the January window based on a better scoreline today. Everyone can see the key areas for improvement. Let's hope we can add three or four in the next week or so with a few moving on.

Scott Cunningham

People are so understandably pissed off with Dessers that pretty much everyone seems to have missed this. A penalty and a red for the frog faced fuck and the game changes.

David Turnbull

Not having a go at big Jack but I couldn’t help but think Greegsy would have saved that 2nd goal. You just expected moments like that from him

Ian MacLeod

I agree. Dessers was fouled to the same extent as he was judged to have fouled in the build-up to the disallowed goal first OF game at Ibrox. If Dessers' tackle was a foul at Ibrox, so was Johnston's on him today.

Scott Allan

Hard one to do today. Agree with Martyn’s assessment.

Gary Shaw

I actually think Butland did the thing that Greegs was bad at and was too far off his line ….wasn’t a howler by any stretch but I think he’ll be disappointed with his positioning…it isn’t even postage stamp

Colin Gardner

Dessers has 1000% needs to be replaced. Played with 10 men today. An utter diddy of a man. Thought we did well today in most parts. Not despondent. Ref was a fukin utter embarrassment.

Manson44

Surly the SFA or SPFL can release the audio from the VAR penalty/offside decision and that will clear everything up. I would expect to hear. colum say no penalty as the rangers player is in an off side position. They we can all rest easy that there is no cover up or at the very least that the referees are competent

Scott Tolmie

I agree, keeper should be doing better for me, was a decent striker but certainly not a worldy

David

Tbh I don't care if we play well against Betis, Porto, Dortmund. The only team I want us to be skelping each time is the scum. The old guard are never going to be able to beat this mob when it matters. We need a clear out in the summer. How many times we said this? Goldson on £35k a week and our highest paid player. Buh bye Connor.

Andy McKechnie

Let down again by the usual suspects. As for the ‘non sending offs’ just look at the red cards that mob have had in Europe compared to back here in Scotland, it’s beyond a joke. Dessers, wow, he is embarrassingly bad.

David

Martin - it's not 2 point gap. We are 8 behind and do you think we will win all our games before we get a chance to play our games in hand? Also on them dropping points... It generally follows on from European football and they don't have any European games to play. Basically we now need to win all our games and get a draw at the next parkhead game to win the league. They won't drop any more points this season.

Luke

Is it true dessers among others was told to find a new club? Thought yilmaz was decent enough at the back. Offered nothing going forward. Sterling was excellent. Very happy with him in midfield although there is a lack of a playmaker in the rangers midfield.

Gary Shaw

All things being equal,it’s 2 points!….that sounds like them in the 55 season,Martyn

Gary Shaw

I’d chase him asap ,absolute fraud of a footballer and it’s no wonder Norwich didn’t want him.

Gareth Williams

We can bleat all we want about the refs, who were shite, but a lack of composure in the final third did us today. We need better players who can perform under pressure and treat them with the disrespect they deserve.

Gary Shaw

Their better players are better than our “better players” and I use that term very loosely…that’s the difference

Alastair McGeoch

Lack of quality middle to front meant we came up short today. Dessers, just pish however right now we need him to keep scoring against the jobbers. Sima looks knackered and maybe starting to see why Norwich offloaded Cantwell. If the board are able to back Clement we are still in this. On the ref, Dougie McDonald was hounded out of Scottish football by Lennon and Celtic for rightly not giving Celtic a penalty but not being able to explain why he changed his mind. Rangers absolutely should be asking for the VAR audio on the decision to not give the penalty. Yes, might have been off side ultimately but something has definitely gone on there. If shoe was on the other foot we know what would be happening right now

David

Martin - you said on the penalty it's an academic point. No it's not. It was incompetence from collum because a goal kick was given. Yes the penalty wouldn't have stood if all checks were made, but the point is the incompetence of the VAR team led this to being a goal kick. And the club should be calling this out.

Craig

Just got to stick together, get the 3 points on Tuesday and have a good break, take it from there.

Heart and Hand

There is a difference between 8 points and 8 points with two extra games. I really don’t get why so many are desperate to chuck in the towel every time we have a bump.

Colin Gardner

Just for giggles who let us down today apart from Dessers and probably Cantwell...Go!

Billy Forrester

Harsh, u seen us without him, he is far and away our best defender, calm yer jets and cool it till tomorrow pal, Goldson is a first choice and when he isn’t there we fucking know about it

Gary Shaw

David,I actually don’t think it’s over, not by a long stretch but I remember everyone on here myself included and all you podders laughing when they would say “aye but we have 3 games in hand”…if we can get quality in January and rack up more wins then we can take this all the way but let’s get the points in the bank first

David

Just because he is the best defender of a bad bunch doesn't mean he is the stranded we need. He is part of a defence that has failed at 90% of the challenges set. Do you think he is worth the £35k a week?

Calum Stankey

If you look at that opposition team, who struggled to hold onto a 2 goal lead against an injury-ravaged 10-man side, and think they won't drop any more points then I'd suggest you think again.

Steven L

The club have got to call for the comms for the pen call. Jesus Christ they flash up an offside 30 mins after and don’t even use the correct frame. 2 things were always going to happen today, a rangers red card and a penalty not being given. The club has to stand up to these dogs.

Heart and Hand

Because they had fallen apart in October whereas that was our first defeat from September. I’m well aware of our issues and yes, we need to win those games but to win the league we need to win all our games regardless of when they take place. Let’s not forget the reason we have one of those games is because we won the cup. All to play for and if anyone thinks a 2-1 win against a poor Rangers team means Celtic are about to go on a long winning run, fair enough. I don’t.

Robert Deavy

Fat Crocker said very clearly today that he can hear the comms and No Offside was was called, had it been it would have cleared things up (words to this effect) Collum never told the ref to go to VAR because he’s a cheat…there can be no other reason. If he had, a penalty would have been awarded THEN likely to have been denied due to offside…which would have been the correct call. As it stands Collum decided that handball was not worthy of VAR intervention which is so wrong. The 2 yellow cards (granted it’s likely 2 nd would not have happened had the first from Bernardo been called) were disgraceful decisions and a clear abdication of the rules from Nick Walsh Either one was a 2nd yellow. The fact he decided neither was was more than incompetence He had no hesitation in applying the rules to Balogun…

Gary Shaw

I don’t think they will either hence the reason I said it wasn’t over but Martyn is the guy that goes on about scoreboard pressure and until we have the points in the bag and we’ve played the same amount of games then I’m not getting excited about an imaginary 2 point deficit.

Angus Mackay

I’m definitely not normally one for such things, but if that is true then the club really need to go nuclear about it. That was a pivotal decision and a blindingly obvious one.

Ally Mair

Didn’t take our chances they did that’s the difference but we have also been cheated by decisions against us

Andy M

We clearly lacked quality in attack. Cantwell is massively overrated for me, mainly because he offered something different to the dross we had when he first came in, but he has yet to do anything of quality in a meaningful game - not convinced Clement likes him either. That aside, the officials completely went with the flow today. When Johnston fouled Sima and never got a second yellow, my mind went to the time Daniel Cousin got TWO bookings for effectively the same challenge against a Celtic defender. Bernardo’s challenge on Goldson was a yellow all day long. Shocking decisions. Still, Clement is doing very well with a poor squad of players. Hopefully the board can back him to bring in better quality as oppose to the Beale brought in based on his past scouting on Football Manager….

David Innes

This has to be a line in the sand moment- not calling it on now would be a dereliction of responsibility from the club

Dougie

If they get their act together-lets face it they have been mince for 8 months- and flex their financial muscle, we will be left trailing . Again. The disaster of not investing while ahead in summer 2021 AND appointing rookie Beale and giving him carte blanche is haunting us.

M34

Catch you in April/May for the same debrief. And again next season if the same failures are still with us. It was succinctly put by David after the 3-2 game in April, “They’re not very good, but they’re better than us, and that’s enough”. Same script today, but even more depressing is they’re worse and we’ve still somehow managed to drop our level below them. This team, vs Celtic, finds a way to fall short. Due to a lack of quality for some, but also an inferiority complex. And unfortunately we have players who have both. Martyn is the only one who isn’t fanny dazzled week to week by results. Win on Tuesday, and then at Easter Rd and we’ll be off and running again. Same cycle with the same players, ultimately ending with the scum lifting another league title. The league cup was correctly marked as a non-negotiable, yet winning that you’d have thought this team were now transformed into winners, starting a new journey. 55 told us all we need to know about our leadership group. 1 trophy didn’t give them the taste to be serial winners then, why would it now? If you routinely crawl up your own arse and can’t do the basics at parkhead for 80 mins, but give us a 10 min glimmer, that’s zero use to us. It’s no coincidence that our use of the ball and decision making falls off a cliff more often than not when we go there. We’re now at a stage where they’re getting credit for not getting a pasting, like that’s some kind of show of mentality. Torch the lot and save Butland. Or it seems very likely we’ll be back here, listening to this again.

Gary Shaw

If we’re nitpicking about the second goal then Lundstram loses out in the middle of the park in a ball he looked favourite for.

Doogz

You cannot expect to miss the chances we had in the first half and expect to get a result. That being said Walsh shat himself to issue clear 2nd yellows both were within a minute. The offside bullshit is clearly an arse covering excercise, Rangers cannot let this go and it should see the end of Collum career as a ref. The board need to do everything in their power to back the manager in this window, 10 weeks ago they were saying they would be 13 clear by this game and league was over. Still plenty to play for but manager needs his players in, and others moved on.

Gary Shaw

I don’t agree on the point about subs (Dessers maybe) but Cantwell lasting 68 minutes is flabbergasting…Clement has taken him off on 2 separate occasions a lot earlier than this and arguably in more important games…he should have been hooked at halftime coz I’m sure Wright or Lammers could come on and flick their hair and do pointless pirouettes.

Billy Forrester

Yer glass is empty Gary, not half full. Fucking smile and stop being so miserable, 56 is incoming pal

Billy Forrester

Yes I do, we have best defence in league and comparable to best defences in Europe, stop moaning ffs

Gary Shaw

I’m not so fucking miserable mate hence the reason I don’t think the league is over but I’m also not a fucking happy clapper….when/if we win the games and we’ve played the same amount then full your boots about the 2 points talk until then it’s redundant

Luke

We get rid of a player like Sakala because he was inconsistent with his finishing and end up with a striker that refuses to shoot. What a horrendous decision it was to give Beale the reigns of all football operations. We got rid of him at the right time and are now, finally, on the upward trajectory. Really looking forward to seeing what the DoF and PC can do in the January transfer window. Not all doom and gloom.

Ian w

They pressed us high which leads to Goldson, Tav, Lundstrum struggling. I know Lundstrum has been ok recently but he is not good enough to be our main man in the middle of the park. Goldson is past his best as is Balogun. Tav has been poor but he is only one that scores. Up front, ffs, embarrassing.

C. J

With them being out of Europe, they won the league today. We will fall away if we go on another Europa run.

Craig

We’re not playing in Europe until March, we will know more about how things are going to be come then, but I don’t think it will have as big an impact even if we get through. Priority should definitely be the league though.

Stace1ofthePeople

Felt cantwell, sima and dessers were poor today. A decent striker would have got us a draw /win. Shite refereeing but we had more than enough chances to win the game so although we are well within our right to complain we still should have got something and only ourselves to blame. We will not win the league and will be lucky to win more trophies with dessers as our striker. Hopefully we sign a quality CF in this window. 🙏 one thing that does piss me off is how easy we make it for celtic. The defensive errors and refereeing the last 5 or 6 games weve played against them is criminal. Still plenty to be positive about. League is still on, SC and Europe. However we know that some players are not good enough so it's about sticking with the team and manager through the next couple transfer windows and hopefully PC can Continue to build a better team

Al-WATP

Obviously gutted about today’s result - we weren’t great but i don’t think we were poor either. First half was very even - chances wise, I thought we edged it and defo shouldn’t have gone in behind. Second half was very scrappy from both. Losing a 2nd goal so quickly had a huge impact. There’s not much between the teams. Unfortunately in key areas / points we seem to constantly lack / fail. Kyogo knows how to score and is a threat and Dessers just isn’t a Rangers player (I appreciate the whole let’s get behind him since he signed but he’s nowhere near good enough and we all know it). I think the negativity towards Cantwell today is a bit much - I thought he was one of our better players first half - ok not so much second. As regards the refereeing it was shocking yet not unsurprising. For a long time now it has been clear that refs have been cheating and are not just bad referees. I know this isn’t the Rangers way to look it as we don’t have that victim mentality built into us but ffs we need to waken up and call it out. We all knew this would happen. They had been building up the pressure for weeks on the officials. As a club we need to change our stance on how we approach and challenge this stuff

maccalsa

McCausland was decent. Dessers was ok up to half time (chance he missed aside). cantwell flatter to deceive he was awful today

Noel

Found it telling that o-rielly got a bloody and possible broken nose during the game, but continued on till the 100th minute. On the other hand sima, who had been dreadful and fearful all day went off,, with a sore face.

maccalsa

Actually, worse than invisible, an easy target for teams who have average players who can get at him

maccalsa

If he kept it simple, he would be decent, But thinks he is some type of Modric, Messi thing... and he needs to go

maccalsa

Sterling was very good today, not a player who wins you games, but a payer that controls who has the ball

Granters

Gerrard sussed Celtic out fairly quickly. I’m confident PC - a better manager than Gerrard - will do the same if the board back him. For a start he needs a goalscorer. When was the last time we had a prolific goalscorer v them? Have we even had one since we came back up?

Callum Dinnen

On the centre of defence, I was against Balogun coming back for this reason, he's prone to absolutely awful performances in big games (Malmö, Hibs semi, Celtic at home in April 22).

Gary Shaw

I know you mentioned it,David but the chance at the end with Dowell is an absolute golden one….if he slides it between Hart and Taylor it’s either an og or a tap in for Tav.

David

Aye Billy, against the crap in the league we are excellent. Goldson giving kyogo 6 yard space to collect the pass, turn and pick his place. Top class defending mate 👌

Tom

Maybe this will make it blatantly clear to the board, if it wasn't already that this group of players needs serious surgery if it is to start to be successful in picking up trophies every year! Who was that big, bald stud on RTV at half time?😜😂

Callum Dinnen

Cantwell was dreadful first half. Constant poor touches and awful decision making in the final 3rd. People are desperate to make excuses for him - he doesn't turn up in big games. That's his 6th game against Celtic and the only game he's performed in was an end of season dead rubber.

Callum Dinnen

Difference is if Celtic had won those 3 games in hand they'd still have been 10 points behind.

Callum Dinnen

Because people have forgotten what a proper title race entails. There's going to be bumps in the road in a 38 game season - even reaching 90 points, which most people would probably rate as a good season, means that you'll fail to win 8-12 games over the course of a season. Our support can't handle that though - witness the ridiculous over-reaction to the draw against Aberdeen.

Craig Donn

I’m bound to be in the minority here or more pissed than I thought I was but I wasn’t as underwhelmed by the performance as the podders were/are. I thought cantwell did quite a bit of good work cutting out play and a few runs of promise without much end product I agree. Dessers is total dogshit we can all agree on that. Defensively we were decent and I thought we gave a good account of ourselves after Balogun got sent off. We know how short we are of options and given the mitigating factors and a few dreadful refereeing decisions/no fans it’s no where near as bad as some are suggesting. Emotions are high and it’s raw. I’m usually all for sacking the manager the board the players but not today.

Callum Dinnen

Celtic won 3 games in a row for the first time this season. But aye, won't drop any more points.

Callum Dinnen

McGregor had plenty of moments where he was beaten by similar strikes. He didn't exactly cover himself in glory in the 3-0 game where it unravelled under Gio.

Gary Shaw

Doesn’t matter if they would be 2 or 10 points behind, that’s not the argument…the argument is we still need to win the games and if the Rangers teams of the past are anything to go by,do you really trust a team that have fluffed their lines more times than I care to remember ,to come up with the goods?…..

Gordon Watson

After Motherwell, I suggested Dessers story as a terrible signing was perhaps in its last knockings with the caveat that we weren’t out of the woods yet on this score. He definitely blew it today. The look on his face tells you everything - he had no idea what he was trying to do with that opportunity, unfortunately.

SC81

A tale of 2 centre forwards

maccalsa

Thank god for common sense on this pod. Regardless of what happened with the penalty, it was offside. Better question how the hell were celtic not down to at least 10 men with Johnston and the Portuguese lad. We never look like scoring against celtic 25 yards out, I always dread them from 25 yards out. It's a quality thing, as you say... they had questionable central defenders as well We are still in this, but we need to put the pressure on, keep winning

maccalsa

To be fair if roles had been reversed. Can you name any of our players you would put as a shoe in for taking either of the chances celtic did today

Gary Shaw

I think he gets caught in 2 minds to go himself or pass to Cantwell and does neither….he has this uncanny ability to run with his full body over the ball and it infuriates me.

Craig

Right. Kids are in bed - I’ve had my fill with the other forum. Time for a nightcap with some cathartic thoughts. LC, two points in it if we take care of our other games and a serious gaffer to start bringing in some of his own signings for our last 16 Europa League matches. It’s always shite losing to them (especially the dubious decisions). But I’ve had worse feelings after losing there - maybe because I know the league is coming home this year. Big Midas touch Phil will sort it 👌

CJT

That mob are as bad as they’ve been since Lennon’s day. Unfortunately we’re not where we need to be to take advantage. Martyn’s right, we’re not a few away, we’re a half a squad away. Seen this group do the same things time and time again. Again, Martin door ion about Tav. Cantewell against McGregor was another good example of the difference . Chased him about like a lost dog but didn’t impact McGregor’s influence at all. Clement’s done a remarkable job with what we have. But he’s not a miracle worker. We need to help him in Jan window but probably can’t. That prob means not this year but hopeful for another cup and a real push next. Ref? Feck me. The hoplleful part of me says no-one can now say there isn’t a bias there, but the realist says we’ll just have to deal with it. That mob have used the vacuum from 2012 to consolidate their influence.

Gary Shaw

It’s just the 90s in reverse….how many seasons do we say “they’re not that good”?…..how many times do our players have to slip, fall, miss a sitter before we admit that it just can’t always be bad luck?….how many times do we need to say “wait to next season we’re getting closer”?….how many managers are we convinced are “proper managers “ before another one is sent on their merry way?…..how much dross will we beat before that mob come calling again and turn us over????

Gary Shaw

I respect people’s positivity but it’s based on nothing but hope as far as the new manager is concerned….we won a league cup by beating a dug meat Hearts and Aberdeen….the Betis game as much as the result was great is the types of results we’ve got in Europe under other managers and if we’re being totally honest, there’s a freedom in those games….beating that mob is the single most important thing to us fans and time after time the players shit the bed and lack the quality to deliver that.

Gary Shaw

Tavs got 4 against them this calendar year, that’s pretty good going 😉

Cairo

Couldn't have said it any better it's boring now always losing the one game that matters most to us, successful Rangers teams find a way to win at least once a season away in the derby. I do think we have the manager to turn it around once he clears out a lot of previous manager's mistakes.

MARK DRIVER

After seeing Arbroath have success with putting on a keeper on up front i wish we would have put McCrorie on for Dessers yesterday

Chris Henderson

Currently listening to the post match pod and at the bit when you are talking about Tav and his contribution. He frustrates me greatly 🤷‍♂️ I describe him as a peace time captain and despite his contributions I think we need a war time captain.

Alastair McGeoch

Having slept on another disappointing defeat to Celtic, I don’t think Clement could have done much more yesterday with the squad at his disposal. Fully agree, the difference was quality. Celtic still have a core of players who’ll step up in old firm games and ultimately that was the difference (despite the helping hand of Walsh bottling out of showing 2nd yellow cards to a couple of them). I do think one thing Clement has to look at in bringing his own players in is guys who’ll lead once out on the pitch, in the maelstrom who can pull the team back together. Brown for them was great at that (hard to admit). I’m not chasing Tavernier out the club but as captain too often in old firms it is leading by example by smashing a consolation goal in after playing poorly. That said, yesterdays game highlight we have been poor middle to front since we won the league and in games like this, Celtic can pour forward and overload our defence if they don’t have to worry about conceding. Sort out middle to front and the defence probably starts functioning better in these games.

Colin MacRitchie

Martyn's audio is significantly louder than David and Colin's, may seem like a small point but it makes for a difficult listen in places.

Ash

I agree the manager is doing what he can with what he has but I'd have liked to have seen Dowell on earlier for Cantwell

Granters

Agree with this. We need a Butcher / Gough / Weir type leader at the back, and have done for some time.

Granters

Could you have seen Beale winning that League Cup? I didn’t. Clement has got the ‘big game’ monkey off the back. He now needs to do the same with Celtic. Gerrard sussed Celtic out fairly quickly, and once he did he bossed them more often than not. Now we need to see if Clement can do the same.

Gary Shaw

I don’t know if anyone else gets this feeling but my mind goes into slow motion when the ball gets played up to Dessers and it’s like a mix of deflation, anxiety and utter despair at the thought of what he’s going to do or more what he isn’t going to do.

Gary Shaw

We’ll never know the answer to that but it wouldn’t be out the ordinary for Beale to have beaten that Aberdeen side at Hampden….Aberdeen would be the worst team in the league if it wasn’t for the points they have got against us so don’t make out it was some superpower we beat…we could play this game all day,Beale beat Betis at home and Clements team were lucky to get a draw at home to Aris….now,if he’s going to get credit for a LCF win and beating Betis then by the same token he has to take the blame for games like Pittodrie and Aris….when we go on long winning runs and start beating them regularly then I’ll get excited but until then I’ll hold fire.

David Kiltie

Thanks for a great pod, guys. As you say, it’s the cutting edge in finishing which is the difference. After the second goal I feared a capitulation but that didn’t happen. We finished the game stronger despite playing with 10 men for nearly 30 minutes. That’s another sign that fitness levels are improving under Clement. The blight on the team in recent times - fitness/injuries and poor recruitment. We have Tom Taylor on board to address the former and it’s clear that Phil is very strict on this issue. Nils Koppen has a big job on his hands but if he worked for a club at PSV’s level he must have something about him. Apropos the refereeing controversy, I am amused at the absence of comments on X about “masons in the black” and “Video Assisting Rangers”!

KennyY

I thought Turnbull should have been sent off as well as Shrek and Bernardo. Also why did the referee allow O’Riley to continue playing with blood running down his face and a bloody shirt. A truly atrocious refereeing performance from Walsh.

David Kiltie

Remember our ropey defence in the home game v Aris - sometimes it’s only when a player is missing you realise his value.

Colin Ferguson

Cyriel Dessers Ive seen an Articulated lorry turn quicker than him.. He can't finish, he can't hold up the ball and we can't sub him! I hope to fek we can sell him and Lammers to Sunderland now!

Lord Crumb

The referee gave a goal kick. They had no idea it was offside at the time. They tried to cheat, and managed to find a get out after the fact. We perhaps didn't deserve to win, but at least should be entitled to a fair game.

Gavin Thornton

Balogun used to be benched for this fixture or played at right back due to injuries. Released, spent a year injured at QPR and now he’s back at 37 yo starts most of the big games. Just shows how poor our recruitment has been. As for Cantwell I think the manager is starting to see through him a bit, he was excellent in the last 10 games of previous season but there was largely nothing to play for by that time. I hope he can rediscover that form but he seemed to do the same thing at Norwich, great start then faded out. Overall not that arsed about yesterday still all to play for and finally have the right man in charge 👍🏻

Stuart Lamont

Can I ask…This game used to be played on New Years Day or 2nd Jan, why are we now playing it in December ? could have had Silva available if it had been on the traditional day of the match !! Just a thought

Gary Shaw

100% ….thats why its nonsense to suggest the manager couldn’t change it due to what was on the bench….I was astonished he actually came out for the second half….people will argue what Dowell,Wright contributed when they did come on but ask anyone that’s played football at ANY level, how hard it is to make an impact in a game when you’re already 2 goals down and a man down and add to that,60k fan’s baying for blood.

Heart and Hand

We didn’t say that, we said the manager clearly didn’t trust what was on his bench to do so. And given none of the players kicked their arse when they came on, he was right. He probably doesn’t make changes based on ‘Gary hates this particular player’.

Brodie Wilkinson-Slaven

Could be wrong, but with the offside for the handball, are offsides not only reviewed for goals scored? I'm not sure it would be within VARs remit to give the offside in the build up to the handball. If the foul was given, it would likely have been a second yellow and not a straight red, which also isn't reviewed by VAR so the offside wouldn't have factored into that either

Craig Woods

Its really nae better with a hangover 🤢

Gary Shaw

I’m not entirely sure about the rules but I don’t see any way that pen is given then not taken away again when they see he’s clearly offside…Sima is offside and he effects Johnstons movements so I can’t see how it wouldn’t be given offside

Gary Shaw

😂😂😂 jeezo David….I don’t hate any player so grow up…he was having a stinker of a game like he did against Hearts and Aris and the manager whipped him earlier …he was arguably even worse yesterday and lasted nearly 70 minutes…then he brings 2 boys on when the games away from us…that’s the manager that made that decision

Gary Shaw

If a particular player isn’t doing his job for my team and constantly getting caught in possession and letting their most influential player run away from him at will then yes,I want him taken off…nothing to do with hating anyone mate

Heart and Hand

Oh come off it, you mention it 10 times every week on here! You like a whipping boy and he's your current one. Be honest!

Gary Shaw

Just wait to Hagi’s back 🤣….David try and be honest with yourself for a nanosecond, Cantwell was brought in for occasions like yesterday and on big wages…he’s never had a decent meaningful game,he’s meant to be our best num 10,attacking player call it what you like and he’s sitting on 2 goals at Hogmanay….you’re doubling down coz you waxed lyrical about him last year when he first came in….I get the kids and the adult kids need a hero but he’s not that…..if you’re happy with his output then nothing I say will change your mind so we’ll just need to settle it at that….And please don’t accuse me of hating a Rangers player coz I wanted him subbed, that’s just childish response mate.

Barry turnbull

Our 4 hardest games in the first half of the season 1 piont from 12 from Aberdeen and celtic, and that was a 94 min penalty

Gary Shaw

Agreed….thats a mentality issue…it’s funny it just seems to happen in these must win games….we don’t do enough over the course of seasons apart from a season when there was no crowds (there’s that mentality thing again)….cant always hide behind decisions as it happens to every single team in the land…yes, the penalty decision is a shocker regardless if it was offside but the second bookings that weren’t given, happen a lot in these games for the home team….

Gary Shaw

If a few more had his effort and desire then it could very well have been different mate.

Barry turnbull

2nd half of the season we must win these games 12 from 12 pionts, but sadly with these players a dont see it happening

Colin Mathie

It wont, they are a team full of pu**ies who are shit scared of playing that lot, our mentality seriously needs to change when we play them.
