Hard three points. But feels like a big one. Striker and winger should set us up in these last few days of the window

chris smith

Its remarkable how consistent SPL refs are at applying this new rule about what constitutes a yellow card (depending on who you play for) …

Gary Shaw

If we win the league then Dessers will become the definition of “cult hero”.

Billy Forrester

A tricky away fixture in awful conditions negotiated in a professional manner. Credit to St Mirren, they are a decent side who gave us a hard game. Delighted for Dessers, he is certainly in a rich vein of form and I’m glad for him, he has had his fair share of stick, some deservedly so however he never hides and he has improved rapidly under Clement. I was nervous that last 20 but this side digs it out and our defensive record is the best in Britain, 13 clean sheets in 22 or maybe even 14 so credit to them. We are going somewhere under this manager, I can feel it 👏💪

Russ

Properly chips and hame in the last 10 minutes; get the goal, get the clean sheet and fuck off back to Ibrox with the wind. If we keep these clean sheets coming then we'll be fine I reckon.

Billy Forrester

Think we will get 1 but not both, hope I’m wrong though. I think Shankland be in the door this week

Billy Forrester

I’m warming to him mate, he never hides and he is starting to look the part, some of his general play is outstanding

Gary Shaw

You can see he genuinely loves it,Billy…..took his goal really well….still a lot of his game that needs fixing but hopefully the settling in period is over and we can see him playing with a bit more freedom.

Stuart McWilliams

I've gone from being convinced that Dessers was useless, to seeing him playing a big part for us this year. Still not convinced he's the guy you want playing against Celtic, but since Clement came in he's averaging a goal every 111 minutes. If we can add another goal scorer this week, even on loan, we'll be in a good place.

Tom

The fans were serenading Steven Davis MBE and a few minutes later they were serenading Dessers, lovely stuff! P.S Gogic is a pound shop hard man.

Callum Dinnen

Said it before and I'll say it again; I like Cyriel Dessers.

Jim McCutcheon

Cheers guys that was a poor game in poor conditions but hey main thing we got the win 😀👏

Alan Cowan

Kevin Nisbet from Millwall. Get him signed

Rose Mcloughlin

Glad to see us coming away with clean sheet and 3 points...crazy winds and a poor pitch and a stubborn St. Mirren side...so well done lads.

Billy Forrester

No evidence as we don’t broadcast our business, what do u want, the club to come out and say we want Shankland 🤦‍♂️ first u will know is when he is standing with a scarf above his head

Spoon

Think it’s time the narrative on Dessers changes, his work rate is there, his numbers are there and while he is far from perfect for a guy who came into a total shit show at the start the season he seems to be the vessel for the fans angst from the poor start. If we brought a guy in this window he would get a chance to settle and if he scored what Dessers has so far he would be deemed a success. Talking about the ones he missed and what he can’t do is just glossing over what he can do for us and is doing. McCoist missed plenty so did Boyd but like both of them Dessers doesn’t let the head go down. I like the big guy, seems popular and I really hope he can add another 20% to his chance taking and we will end up with a player on our hands. Good result against a team doing pretty well all season so far and we managed the minutes well for player loads. Take that every week.

Mark Harvey

Dessers won't stop us winning the title. Lack of quality in wide areas will.

Jamie Kirk

Dessers is a likeable guy. But……..I believe you could have any Spfl striker in a rangers or Celtic team and that striker, due to the volume of chances created would get 10-15 goals a season for us. However, a better calibre of striker, a mccoist, a Boyd, a negri etc, they double that. Is Dessers in that bracket of player where he’s going to get 20-30 a season? Not sure. I hope so but he’s just not that good I don’t think. Shankland would score the chances that Dessers misses. That’s the difference for me. Shanklands scoring 2 a game. He’s not missing what Dessers misses.

Callum Dinnen

I wouldn't expect Hearts or Shankland to keep quiet if there was genuine interest from our side.

Billy Forrester

Let’s wait and see, I think it will get done but time will tell, I’d certainly be delighted if it does

Billy Forrester

I think he will most certainly get over 20 goals this season, that’s a good return and if u look at Alfredo he wasn’t much more in his time here, Dessers deserves credit and clearly has ability

Heart and Hand

I think he became emblematic of Beale’s mistakes. He also git lumped in with Lammers, who truly was a terrible signing .The further we get away from that period the more it will change. He’s a likeable guy too.

Spoon

Spot on David now really rooting for the big guy and hoping the fans can get past the start. He’s not perfect but I like his attitude and application. He’s doing his job currently and he’s a handful for defences, maybe we need to get away from the idea it’s one striker for the whole game and it’s more about giving defences different problems half to half or game by game.

Heart and Hand

If we get another striker in to share the load I think people will start to appreciate his contribution more. I had almost written him off but his turnaround is really impressive.

Graham Roy

He’s a back up striker in my eyes. Will get decent numbers at end of season but not reliable enough to take that 1 chance you get in big games!

Scott Tolmie

Gents the st mirren chance even if it had went to var wouldn’t have counted because the linesman gave the decision and didn’t let the play continue, the game was stopped

Andy

Dessers is not good enough for rangers. Doesn’t do enough over 90 minutes. Can’t hold the ball up, can’t trap a bag of sand. He makes it so hard for our midfield to play well because they have nothing to hit. He scored a good goal today but papers over the cracks from him

James Anderson

Got to say, Lundstrum is picking out assists like a good NFL quarterback

David Angus

Souttar was a rock today. Really impressive. Particularly last 20 mins. David btw, who the fuck gets chips before going home? Surely gotta be something a bit more exciting (kebab, pakora, curry, pizza etc.) 😂

Greg

Yeah, we aren't getting a striker that takes every chance, everyone is just going to have to accept it.

Billy Forrester

Harsh and totally unfair, he was holding ball and leading line well today, gave Gogic a very hard time today. Plus did our midfielder Lundstram not hit him from midfield with a killer pass that he controlled brilliantly and finished clinically???? do u remember Kris Boyd mate, he couldn’t do most of that either but he was hero worshipped. Never trusted to play in old firm games though as he couldn’t lead the line. I loved Boyd btw and not a go at him but the market we buy in now doesn’t allow us a striker who scores every chance and can do it all. Morelos was hero worshipped but missed his fair few before always bagging a goal and was woeful his last 12-18 months with us, he was a disgrace but his past goals earned him hero status

Billy Forrester

If there is a striker who nets every chance then we won’t be getting him, he will be in top 6 in England or playing for likes of Real or PSG etc. reality is we are in market for a striker who doesn’t net every chance but scores one in every 2, 3 or maybe 4

Billy Forrester

Can Clement and his team not continue that improvement with him, I think so. He is getting better every week and I’m not saying he is the complete striker however he is deserving of his place on current form

Gareth Williams

Good to see big Dessers the ‘dud’ notching another one! Maybe we’ll see Bob and the rest of his mates in the SJ singing “Nice one Cyril” before the season is out! Great 3 points and doon the road!😎🇬🇧

Kevin Blyth

This feels like one of those games where, as a fanbase, we are united in the fact that we won rather than threw it away. While it wasn’t a great game, I went to bed fully satisfied at the three points rather than being concerned about the performance. Feels like an important win and one that could be very important come the end of the season.

Heart and Hand

I think it’s coming and it’s a positive symptom of the fact we’re beginning to trust the side. More so though, we trust the manager. We have four games at home coming up, we expect to be better and I think we WILL be better. When that becomes the standard fans are far more understanding that there will be games where it’s tough conditions against a stodgy side and you just have to grit it out.

Gary Brown

Job done. Effectively and efficiently. St Mirren are a decent side this season. Dessers is proving his many doubters wrong and you can see how thrilled he is being appreciated. Perhaps if he hadn't been victimised as harshly before his form would've improved sooner.

Adam

An effective performance. To quote Big Phil, it wasn't sexy. A very missionary like performance, in fact, if we expand the metaphor. Fairly standard and functional for the most part. I've missed those types of away day performances, haven't had them very often in recent years. As a support, we became very accustomed to hair'em scare'em type games away from Ibrox, when we allowed the opposition to dictate the game for too long, and it often became perilous or cost us. Clement shut that down in the second half, and we saw the game out and possibly could have put it to bed. Can see we're crying out for something a bit more inventive in the middle of the pitch, though. So I'm looking forward to seeing Diomande. Hopefully we can add a couple more players before the window shuts next week.

Kevin Blyth

Yes, agreed. What’s more, it’s been a long time since we could trust the team like we do. Not going to lie, I was bricking it at the end. Our KTB chat group was all in the same space! Genuinely feels like Big Phil has us moving in the right direction. Just need those last couple of players in. And who knew we’d be singing Dessers’ name?! Love that too, and long may it continue!

Scott Tolmie

Btw the st mirren handball, how is that not a pen, it’s nowhere near the T-shirt line, cracking clearance with his arm mind you

Steffen McAndrew

Really pleased for Dessers. However, I still don't think he can win us the league. I think the burden needs taken off his shoulders- he'll be fine for another 6 goals this season. We need someone to score at least double that in the league.

Chris Graham 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Money in the bank and credit will come from beating them !!!! Not a moment before Everyone fully behind the team 100% It all means nothing if both teams win up to the tie at ibrox and yet again don’t manage to win the games with acid in the air Keep going Keep winning Beat them They will devour each other if we do that 💙🇬🇧💯

Gregg

They genuinely hate the statistically best defender in Europe - I wouldn’t hold your breath. Hopefully they do though, for a bit too long 😂

Robbie McCarroll

I worry about Cantwells role in the team and his relationship with Clement I feel he could become demoralised easily. I also didn’t think he was the worst in the first half he did put a few tackles in and try to play football.

Steven McGill

On the kit choice, I think it’s no coincidence it’s the only one still at full price on the website and the team are wearing it at every opportunity, often completely unnecessarily at places like Hibs and St Mirren where there is zero clash.
