Martyn, Adam and David are back with their history of the Champions League. This week, Adam goes deep on Marseille on the pitch and Capello's impact on Milan as well as the significance of the backpass law, some much needed love for Sebastiano Rossi and the importance of Romario to PSV.

Interestingly Guadeloupe is part of France. Not a colony. Currency is the euro. Speak French and send MPs to Paris. Not a country in its own right.

Great show! Interesting that not only did Rossi not play for Italy, Tassotti also didn't play for his country until Sacchi took over which I always found very strange

Really good episode, thanks Martyn, Adam & David. To this day I've never seen this final. Was in the huff! Saw the minute or so of highlights on TV news. Must give it a look. That Marseille side were good enough they didn't NEED to cheat, but they HAD to in order to ensure passage to the final. Pity! This is the closest Rangers ever got and the closest we ever will. In a one off our team at that time could've given Milan a game and who knows how it would have ended. We were a match for Marseille and coming from behind both times showed the fighting spirit. Sauzee. The French Butch Wilkins. Rossi the Milan GK had completely slipped my mind too, until mentioned. It was always the Milan defence as a unit that was revered. Spawned the Maldini Nike ad 'Italy's Goalkeeper: Easiest job in Europe'. When you look at it this is 1 of only 3 times a non 'mega' club has won the CL over its 30 years and to do so they needed an unprecedented / unrepeated level of player for that team, peaking at that precise time plus a great manager at the top of their game too BVB 97 and Porto 04 were the same.

Great show as always. Finished it this morning then I turned on talksport and Coisty is discussing that he is going to see Eric De Maco playing oasis covers at King tuts. Very surreal!

Cheers for this. Format works really well and looking forward to the journey through the years and hopefully a UEFA Cup/Europa league spin off!

Great show again lads , the thing that always makes Roberto Carlos freekick even more ridiculous is that it hits the post so ends up in the opposite corner , always thought Goram was the first keeper to come to terms with the backpass rule you just knew he played out of goal in 5 a sides where as Snelders looked as if he hadn't passed a ball in his Life , always thought that a strange signing for Rangers ( Snelders ), finally Marseille winning meant they had beaten Milan but never defeated Rangers and when the match fixing comes out gives rise to the case of " what mightve been "

If comparing to today, Romario was a better version of Aguero. One of the best goalscorers/finishers ever.

Sweden regularly made tournaments then when Euros were r3stricted to 8 sides. Ravelli was an excellent keeper. NcCoists goal against Leeds was superb, but technically wasn't in the tournament as it was a preliminary round qualifier 😝 superb two part show as always guys 👍

Angloma was some player. Old school full back to start with, who managed to transfer into the modern game due to his outstanding attributes. Awesome at Valencia in a totally different setup.
