Enjoyed the pod gents. Fair comment on Wright in terms of him not taking us to the next stage, epitome of a squad player for me, solid, reliable and probably a bit magnolia except at Hampden but playing devils advocate, is it harder for the fringe guys when they come in and dont get runs in the team ? I know he’s played 100 games but those all come in fits an starts, taking more generally I always feel of a guy who is trying to make an impression but comes into a rotated side or for the last 20 when all the big players are taken off for a rest and the team takes the foot off the gas or it becomes a bit disjointed. I feel for guys in our team who are expected to set the heather a fire based on an unusual line up or shape. I like Wright and I think in terms of value etc he has probably been a decent servant, the references back to him almost being out the club need taken in context Beale was emptying people for bizarre reason, wont even go into the Colak decision, but I do agree that overall he just hasn’t kicked on. I wonder these days how many players we do actually bring in and improve though as all too many start on fire and top off, Raskin being a good example. Let’s hope PC keeps forgiving guys forward as we can’t take a guy like Cortes and coach out his shooting on sight that we have done so often to guys again surely. One things for sure, the team is again exciting to watch and doesnt feel one pass away from betraying trust and that’s a huge leap forward.

He's so close to being a really useful player. His problem is he impresses off the bench a fair bit but doesn't convert it when he earns a start. But he's there, and the manager is making use of him because he's a pragmatist. I love that.

Spoon

Yeah I like the boy and sometimes just feel if he got the run others had and we persevered he might just make the leap. Always got time for the guys who come in and give their all knowing they will be out next game or as a seat filler, must be a hellish way to have a career!

I just don't think he does enough going forward. Very disciplined player but his final ball lets him down a lot.

Ross Kerr

I have nt seen enough from Raskin even before he got injured.

Silvas debut was Kilmarnock at Ibrox on the 2nd

Souttar has been excellent this calendar year

Thanks for the Flagship lads. Interesting discussion about the players focused on. Enjoyed listening to that. The over-riding point is that far too many in the fanbase always need to moan about someone, no matter how good things are going.

Aye players getting flak is nothing new at Rangers Scott Wright started 2 european semi finals and a final probably down to what David says but it's easy to forget these performances and it's not our domestic style of play that requires that level of game understanding in certain situations..... going forward especially in Europe should we find ourselves with a 1 goal advantage with 30 minutes to go i know who I would want playing

Gregg

Djimi Traore won a champions league mate - he was still utterly pish

Douglas Innes

That's too simplistic and just an opinion .... like what I'm saying and what David said about why 4 successive managers pick players

Hmm. In possession I'd broadly agree. He and Balogun are able to step up in a way that neither Goldson nor Davies can and force an opening. I think he's been suspect defensively though; particularly dealing with throws into the box. Like Davies he is good until he isn't and sadly he isn't once or twice a match. One for the fodder games but probably an area we should be looking to strengthen for next season with Balogun's replacement.

Pedro

This calendar year (i.e. 2024) positionally he's been excellent. His reading of the game has allowed us not just pre-emptive interceptions but has also aided in a few counter attacks. Actually been more concerned with Goldson switching off, like at the weekend and the goal conceded against Aberdeen. Agree we need a replacement in defense though, Davies should be moved on and Balogan and King will need assesed. Possibly a loan for King
