After I had my recent surgery (radical hysterectomy + overectomy) they found that they left a significant portion of my left ovary IN. How do you having a partial ovary will affect things?

Pengwenpenguin

Are there any reasons why a person may be more prone to getting yeast infections? I've heard that being on birth control may have something to do with it, but wasn't sure if that was true.

TMI, but my appendix exploded and I had an appendectomy. The surgery plus the exploding organ left scar tissue and adhesions that cause pinching pain sometimes in my lower abdomen/pelvic area, and while I was checked out by my doctor and gyno and they saw no real issues other than the occasional discomfort, I have read anecdotes of women who have had ectopic pregnancies because of adhesions left on their fallopian tubes after appendicitis. Have you ever heard of this happening?

Osita

Apologies upfront, kids. If there is a tactful, tasteful or professional way to ask this, I don’t have it....so here it goes. I’ve always wanted to know about the scent/smell and how that pertains to mating. In addition to pheromones, does the vaginal scent play a part as well? In short, is my lizard brain attracted to my partner because of the scent or is it the other way around? It seems like I read something that said that when we were smaller and lived by water, we would be less attracted to someone’s scent if we would not be chemically compatible. Yep, as soon as I typed it, I felt ridiculous. Anyhoodles, I love my wife and her scent. Am I just creepy A.F. or is it a thing? Thanks for this wonderful show, it deserves all of the high fives. Hugs to you A Dubs.

I was in a relationship that we tried many times to get pregnant, but she had an ectopic pregnancy twice and fetus did not survive. Despite trying naturally and via invitro we could not get pregnant. Her sister had the same issue but was finally successful twice. Why are some women prone ectopic pregnancy? Is it genetic? Is it an issue with the male donor? Has there been any advances in treatment since the early 2000? By the way, there was a very happy ending in the adoption of my daughter. I can not begin to tell.you the absolute joy adopting her has been! I would encourage everyone to go to the adoption route whether you already have your own children or if there are issues conceiving.

so, this is TMI but the whole subject is: a 10 day cycle is weirdly long, right? Like, since puberty and no hormonal birth control ever

I have 2 questions... 1: What causes PCOS and are there any effective treatments for it? 2: Knowing how shitty is it to be a human who possesses a uterus... do you believe in intelligent design? I don’t know how anyone who’s ever experienced menstruation possible could!

Meaghan Walsh Gerard

If I know I don't want kids, and I'm nearly past that age anyway, is it safe to have an elective hysterectomy? I hate babies and periods.

Anna Marie

Yes! Alllllll the questions about PCOS! Are we ever going to have a cure for this?

Christa Avampato

Why do hormone headaches happen and is there anything we can do to prevent them?

Jonathan and Amber Meade

How does testosterone work in women? If a woman has low testosterone, what are some options she has for increasing libido?

Megan Younce

Before birth control, my whole cycle would last 2 months (so, I'd only menstruate once every 2 months), instead of the "norm" 1 month. I've always wondered why this is as well.

what-bird

I should maybe clarify, my cycle is 1 month but the menstruation lasts the annoyingly long 10 days

What are OB/GYNs doing to reduce the maternal mortality rate in the US? During a woman's pregnancy, how do OBs balance mom's health with baby's health? Same question with delivery and postpartum.

Carrie Stuard

How many times in your career have you had a surprise wrong gender reveal at a birth?

Rebecca Hall

When you say you've seen everything before, do you actually mean that or are you just saying it to make us feel better?

Katy Bock

What is the strangest/most unexpected thing you have ever retrieved from a vagina?

Colette Ayers

Why I am so Irregular despite having every single form of test all coming out normal including the one with with a long stick covered in a giant condom? Are there negative effects on the body when periods are not regular? Are there certain chemicals your body produces during menstruation that if you are irregular your body misses out on? Is contraption a good way to regulate your period?

Miranda Ashley

I started my period very young, at age 9. My reproductive system has been the complete pits ever since. I’ve had multiple surgeries for endometriosis and ovarian cysts. By some miracle I was able to have a child. Is my daughter going to go through the same sort of problems that I have to deal with?

Katy Powell-Anderson

2 things!: 1. What made you want to become a gynaecologist? And 2. As an adult in the UK, there is no regular schedule for a gynaecologist exam (apart from a smear test once every 3 years). How often would you recommend getting an exam and what should it entail?

Mads Clement

How scary are pap tests/obgyn appointments/etc? I'm a young adult with a varguba and I'm terrified of getting my bits checked out.

DandelionGirl

Is there an equivalent of a gyno for trans women, same doctors for cis women or is that a new fairly new job/thing?

Christa and John Trexler

How many babies have you delivered?? What’s the longest you’ve seen a woman be in labor for?

Francina Martinez

Have you ever estimated the size of a baby and been totally off base? Ex. When I was pregnant, my OB estimated my daughter to be 6-6.5lbs at birth. When she was born, she weighed 8lbs .3oz. When the nurse announced her birth weight, he turned and said, "HOW much?????" I think he was a little surprised she was a bit bigger than he predicted.

Heather Crowther

Why does stress and/or depression affect when your period comes? Or does it (my gp said it was probably the reason when I had a stretch of real weird periods)?

Amelie Rivaleau

Many other women and people with vaginas I know feel like their gynos understated the side effects of many forms of birth control, ESPECIALLY IUDs (namely, the pain and cramps due to them, both in intensity and expected duration). Do you think this is because the medical/OBGYN community and society in general is resigned to accept some level of female pain/suffering for avoiding procreation bc those are the only ones we have? Am I thinking too deeply about this? Maybe. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Topher

Emergency Episiotomies. A cut seems better than a rip. But why may this be a bad idea?
