Dear Patrons,

Welcome to our latest monthly newsletter, featuring all your usual news and production updates, as well as an exclusive new episode reveal! Let's get straight to it...

Patreon Reveal - The Story of Christianity

We've kept this one under wraps until now, but we have a new video about a completely new topic... and it's out on Patreon next week!

This one's a little different to our recent work - it's a complete timeline and animated map charting the spread of Christianity across the globe, from the crucifixion of Christ to the present day, including all the major conversions, missions, conquests and schisms... all in one 25 minute episode.

'The Story of Christianity' is a purely historical account of what is undeniably one of the most astonishing events in history - the spread of a small, Judaic sect, to become the word's most popular religion over the course of 2,000 years. As such, we hope it will be a fascinating overview for those of all faiths and none. And we're already working on an identical video charting the story of Islam, due in a few weeks. Here are a couple of sneak peaks...

Production Updates

Rise of China Episode 3

Animation work for the next episode is underway. We pick things up right where we ended Episode 2 - on the verge of all-out war between China and Japan. This instalment is action-packed, covering the devastating wars of the 1930s and 40s, including the Battle of Shanghai, the Nanking Massacre and China's role in World War 2.

American Revolution Episode 2

We're also working on the next instalment of our major American Revolution series. After the build-up to hostilities in Episode 1, Episode 2 sees 'the gloves come off', as the crisis between Britain and her colonies escalates, and the first shots are fired at Lexington and Concord...

Behind the scenes we are also working on... World War Two, Verdun in 3D, the Story of Islam, ULTRA & Bletchley Park, AND some other top secret projects that we will be revealing soon!

YouTube Memberships

Epic History now has YouTube memberships!

Now - to be clear - every paying Patron is already more than 'doing their bit' to support the channel. But we thought you might like to be the first to hear about our YouTube membership anyway, particularly as, for a small monthly sum, you get a little Napoleonic hat and custom emoji next to your YouTube comments!

The name we are giving to our YouTube members - the Grognards - is also Napoleon-inspired, and will be known to many of you.

Again, to be clear - YouTube memberships will not be replacing or competing with our Patreon offering. This is still the first place to see new videos and only place to access perks like votes on new topics, sneak peaks, production updates, music scores, AMA chats, etc.

So, if you are desperate to get some Napoleonic headgear next to your YouTube username, you know what to do! But there's absolutely no expectation for existing Patron members to sign up to memberships - this is just us trying to reach a section of our audience that are reluctant to make that move.

One Cool History Thing

I've been out enjoying the spring air and some local history at Tewkesbury. Many will know the name from the particularly bloody battle fought here in 1471, during the Wars of the Roses. After their defeat, many Lancastrian knights sought refuge in the Abbey - only to be dragged outside and beheaded... The town is dripping in history - I highly recommend the Cross House Tavern and the local history museum!

And here's the tomb of Sir Guy de Brien - the English standard bearer at the Battle of Crecy in 1346.

That's all for this packed newsletter! Thank you, as always, for your incredible support and we look forward to bringing you more videos very soon.

I've definitely always wanted a secular look into the historical origins of religions, I think this will be really cool.

Very interesting move on the YouTube memberships and thanks for the reinsurance that the only difference might be the emoji in the comment sections. I my question is will there be some videos like for “members only” to view? I follow some YT channels and they do publish some videos that state that only members can see them. Will that occur? Thanks for the update!

What an interesting topic on Christianity! As an outsider to the Catholic Church, it has always fascinated me how it maintained such a large bureaucratic role in Europe, see its origins as the Roman Empire fell apart would be very interesting to see

EpicHistoryTV

No plans for 'YouTube members only' videos! It's mostly about the hats...

Very exciting I’m loving the China series delving into both the military and especially the politics within the country. Great History in Tewksbury, my girlfriend lives there. Went to Gupshill Manor for Valentine’s Day which i definitely didn’t book because of its proximity to The Bloody Meadow, or that Margret of Anjou stayed there on the eve of battle. 🤫 haven’t made it to Cross House Tavern yet.

Franco Curotto

As a recent patreon member, I had no idea you were working in a WWII series, I'm super excited!

Flint and Ball

Lots of interesting content in the pipeline Toby and crew. The Christianity topic will be fascinating. It’s a story that is rarely discussed so kudos for delving into it. I’m enjoying the china series and very excited for more American revolution. How many Lancastrian knights were killed at Tewkesbury?

Eli Khanam

I imagine it will be similar to the Abbasid series, which briefly covered Islam's early history and then went into detail about the impact and spread of Islam.

Murad Mustafayev

Wow! Really excited to see the surprise content on the history of these major religions. Though a very sensitive topic, Epic History is perhaps the only team I would trust to convey a balanced, fact-based and yet a thrilling account of evidence backed stories (or where they are not evidenced, provide various viewpoints/beliefs, which you usually do). Good luck team EH ❤️

TankerBricks

Looking forward to the updates! Especially Episode 3 of the Rise of China- the ending of Episode 2 gave me goosebumps for certain!

MrAH2010

Glad to see that the parallel projects has been working out so well for you guys. I spend more now with the model being $/video, and that's a good thing. Cannot wait for the Cartography video. (And more music releases 🥺)

EpicHistoryTV

I don't think we know precisely, but dozens. There's a list on the wall of the local history museum! The Prince of Wales along with several other Lancastrian commanders died on the field. The most chilling thing is that Edward IV held a thanksgiving service in the Abbey, straight after the battle, while the Lancastrian fugitives were still lurking inside the building. They were dragged out a couple of days later for the chop. This is of course the conflict from which George RR Martin got many of his ideas!

Dhruv Gokhale

keep up the great work i hope u will countinue to make videos on spread of religions. plz i also hope that u wont stop on only christianity and islam!

Tristan Nagel

Mike Banzai

EpicHistoryTV
