Dear Patrons,

Exciting news - Paradox has asked Epic History to help promote the release of their upcoming new title, Europa Universalis 5!

I'm sure many of you are well acquainted with EU, but for those who aren't, the Europa Universalis series are among the biggest and best historical strategy video games of the last twenty years. It's essentially a 'nation-state simulator', in which you guide your chosen state through the turbulent years of the late medieval and early modern period, roughly 1350-1800.

We're going to make a one-off collaboration video for this tie-in, but want YOU to help us chose the final topic! As usual, voting rights are awarded to Citizen tier and above.

Voting ends Monday. We've tweaked our poll settings, so this time you can vote for all the options you like!

I voted Portugal. Very much in keeping with the theme of Europa Universalis and a subject that often isn’t covered to the extent it perhaps should be.

Abhinaba Mazumder

Just voted for all options so I don't change the outcome at all

Kevin Xu

Congrats on getting the sponsorship! All are not very well covered in America so would be great to showcase to a wider audience Tamerlane would be my pick as a general need to showcase outside of Europe history, forgotten kingdoms would be a good way to showcase the diversity of systems of governance outside of our current nationalist and democratic system I think another one to consider is the English civil war, which can lead very nicely into the French Revolution and Napoleon series as the French took heavy influence and lessons from that time period. I think there was some confusion about the Cromwell comments mentioned in the Coup of Brumaire

I know it is mainstream, but understanding better the root and players of the 30 years war will improve my knowledge and play through when the game drops!

SCL

I voted for Portugal I feel as though it's the least covered of Europe's big empires.

luc

Rip the Habsburg dynasty... which covers all the period... but 30 years war is also a good subject

Zev Bitel

If you do do the Thirty Years' War, please show the late war some love. I feel a lot of general histories lose interest after the death of Gustavus Adolphus and the assassination of Wallenstein. They'll mention French intervention after the Battle of Nordlingen, perhaps Rocroi too, but otherwise their analysis will devolve into general points about the war's brutality and cynicism until the Peace of Westphalia. But there's so much more! Bernard's new duchy, Torstenson's march on Vienna, Mercy's defence of Bavaria, Melander's defection, etc. I realise there's only so much time in a primer, but it would be truly amazing if you could cover just a few of these events or characters. It would also distinguish your work from so many others.

I feel the thirty years war is more worthy of it's own series of videos in the future

Stuart Carver

30 years war could be fun though I’d take any of them, sure they’ll all be covered eventually.

Amin Ibrahim

All great options! 30 years was just edges it out for me. I’m curious, who are you thinking of for lost empires?

EpicHistoryTV

Burgundy, Bohemia, etc. It would be a good chance for me to finally read Norman Davies' 'Vanished Kingdoms: The History of Half-Forgotten Europe' that's been sitting on my shelf for ten years!

SheepFace2000

So hard to choose, honestly think they’d all make for great EHTV videos. But for an EU4 audience (speaking as an EU4 player) definitely either Portuguese Empire or Thirty Years War seems most fitting

Mingyuan Chen

Maybe we could see the Seven Years’ War and the Russio-Japanese War in the future?

EpicHistoryTV

Poll is closed, and we have a clear winner! Look out for Thirty Years War updates soon.

Dan Jaggers

I was hoping this sort of collaboration would happen one day, two of my favourite things joining forces for an epic video! The Thirty Years War is a great choice, and honestly, it deserves a series of it's own someday to explore it more in depth, one of the bloodiest and most devastating conflicts to have ever erupted in European history.

DaMonsterMan

if you take suggestions for other polls a vlad the impaler video would be amazing
