Dear Patrons,

First I'd like to say thank you to everyone who's posted such kind comments about the 'Napoleon: Endgame' video. It's great to hear how much you've enjoyed it, and I hope most of you feel it was a fitting culmination to our Napoleonic Wars series, which has now been 2 years in the making! And also a big welcome to all the new Patrons who've recently signed up to support the channel - thank you!

I'll get straight to what most of you want to hear about, the next poll: I'll make a new post tomorrow for all Citizens of EHTV and above: it will be an open forum for everyone to make suggestions for future topics, which will run until Saturday. I'll use this to see which topics have the most support, and then create a short-list for us to vote on next week. (I've already promised one option will be 'more Napoleon' due to popular demand.)

Any 'Builders of EHTV' who'd like to take part in the poll - now would be a good time to get  enfranchised as a citizen ($2+)!

While working on the Napoleonic series, I've also been developing some new ideas with some talented collaborators, which I'll  be releasing over the next several months. Here's a little preview...

First up, I've been working with James, a very skilled 3D animator and all-round space boffin, to create a  3-part series on the Apollo Program. The skill, technology and courage involved in the Space Race have long fascinated me, and even for those not normally interested in the topic, I hope the EHTV blend of facts, narration, music and animations will get you hooked. James is very good at what he does and this should be a great-looking series, here's a little preview of his work...

Second, I've been clambering over English castles since I was a boy, and when I recently bumped into a skilled architectural artist, the opportunity was too good to miss... The working title of this project is 'How to Build the Perfect Castle', and it will be a fact-packed, fast-moving overview of the development of the castle in Europe, from 11th century motte-and-bailey castles to the imposing stone curtain walls and keeps of the 14th century. Here's another work-in-progress shot to whet your appetite...

Lastly, I've had a Battle of Salamis video on the back-burner for several months (unfortunately the original collaborator dropped out), but this September is the 2,500th anniversary of this critical battle of the ancient world. So that is now the target date for completion of this project. For those that don't already know, this was the great victory by a  Greek coalition navy over the Persian fleet in 480BCE - a MUCH more important battle than Thermopylae, but not nearly as famous! I'll be covering all the history, naval tech and tactics of the campaign, and artwork from Russel (who created the art for the Alexander the Great speech) will help to give this a cool and original look...

I hope you will be as excited as I am to see how these projects develop and come to fruition.  And I'll be working on these alongside whatever YOU decide the next topic should be!

None of these videos would be possible without your support for the channel. So a massive, sincere thank you to you all again. More updates soon (including some new Napoleonic merch...)

I started reading this hoping for more peninsular war content and forgot all about it by the end. All three of those look top notch!

It's brilliant to see you're branching out with new types of videos - your style and production deserves to cover as many topics as possible. Very interested to watch the castle-building video, and looking forward to learning about the space race, something I've never read into much. And of course, I can't wait for the continued history series (Salamis especially) - nor can I wait to find out what the community will choose. I've definitely got my suggestion lined up. Brilliant work as always Toby.

I would love to see the history of Rome and if some famous roman battles could be included then that would be abseloutly awsome.

Gordian III

Man I would love to see you ranking Napoleon's marshals. Kind of like you did with the US presidents : )

Walide

Yep interested too. Plus a review of the political achievements of Napoleon. Battles are fascinating but he did plenty of other things in all areas : economy, administration, justice, culture, sciences ...

Dan Jaggers

Wow, I knew had some projects in development behind the scenes, but wow, the Apollo program alone I feel will be a must watch with detail and models like that. The castle video sounds like it will be a fun little topic to watch in seeing how castles evolved over time, but the Battle of Salamis video, now that is a must for this year's anniversary, but I am curious about how you will render the actual battle itself, will it be 3D or 2D? I'm sure either way it will be a great watch, and a good way to segue into the Alexander the Great series for new watchers.

What about a Punic Wars series similar to the Napoleon series?

Jordan Cork

These are some great ideas. It's truly excellent stuff and I hope you can reach as many topics as possible. As an Archaeology student, I'm loving the idea of the castles video. Any more along the same line of thinking, focusing on material culture, would be greatly welcomed! Also, would love to see some video's on Polish history. They fought some very interesting wars: - Polish–Ottoman War (1672–1676) - Great Turkish War (1683-1699) - Kościuszko Uprising (1794)

Wow that’s quite a catalogue of projects on the go hopefully get to see all of these come to fruition within the year if we’re lucky. I absolutely adore the artwork for Salamis his Alexander work was great and you haven’t done much naval warfare yet so I’m keen to see how it’s presented. I have a dozen things I’m considering for the vote, guess I’ll have to narrow it down somehow. Keep up the awesome work.

Honestly I thought after Napeleon, the best topic to cover would be Frederick the great and his influence on Europe specially in the seven years's wars, the Prussia and possibly the future German state.

Omar Fernando Tapia Romero

Your job is amazing! and all those projects are interesting, this channel has a great potential. I'd love to watch videos about Napoleon's early campaigns (Italy and Egypt), when the young Bonaparte showed his talent and the cultural legacy of the Egyptian campaign. Also a serie abou the French Revolutionary Wars would be incredible. On the other hand, I'm Mexican and would like yo see videos about the Spanish-America Wars of Independence (Simón Bolívar, San Martín, Morelos and the Libertadores)!

Sakuraba216

The US civil war would be exciting

7 years war! With Frederick the Great the Idol of Napoleon

Hey Toby, thanks for the update. Really looking forward to the new content! Have you ever considered exploring the English Civil War? Within popular culture I think it's memory becomes lost amongst the wealth of content covering the French and Russian Revolutions, and the American Civil War. The trial and execution of a monarch, the formation of Britain's first professional fighting force (New Model Army) and some of the key players such as Cromwell, Rupert, Fairfax and Strafford would make for some fascinating content.

Andrei Dumitrescu

History marche has that covered quite nicely already. Check out his channel too

I love the How to Build Your Perfect Castle ide and that screenshot has me hyped

Respublik

Kings and Generals are covering this presently really, really well.

Respublik

It so strange to pitch anything following years of collective content and a single speech video, but your ambitions to cover Apollo missions leaves me amazed and intrigued already.

valentin plouzeau

You gotta be aware about today then. SpaceX on the road!

Eduardo Casco

This is a great video! I would also like more napoleonic stuff, and if not a series on the War of 1812, and the Spanish American War. Anyways, awesome video and keep up the good work.

Eduardo Casco

Also I would like a series on the American Civil War too.

Ali Osman Ergüney

Love the work! More videos about the Napeleonic Period from different aspects- like political, administrative or economic- would be awesome!

valentin plouzeau

Frederick II is not that famous. Would be interesting to see the Napoléon's precursor.

Rafael Perez

In my humble opinion: a space race series similar to the Magellan and Drake videos would be amazing. Continuing the theme of human exploration.
