Dear Patrons,

The final episode of Napoleon's First Campaign will be released here on Patreon next week.

Work's already begun on our special episode about the Battle of Eylau, as well as our WW2 series and a top secret naval project. So there's lots going on behind the scenes. But we're already wondering... what's next?!

Exclusive to Patreon Citizens and above, I invite you to decide which of these four options will be our next short series...

(As usual, runners-up will very likely return in future polls.)

In chronological order:

The American War of Independence - rebels v redcoats in the era's most consequential colonial conflict. Perhaps also the era's most misunderstood/mythologised conflict? (5-6 eps)

Napoleon in Egypt - the next chapter of our Napoleonic saga would see the ambitious young general cross the Med, for adventures and famous battles in the land of the Pharaohs. (2 eps)

The Hundred Days - a reboot and heavily expanded version of our first ever video, covering Quatre Bras, Ligny, and Waterloo. (3-4 eps)

Mexican-American War (1846-48) - Manifest Destiny collides with Mexican pride, in the conflict that shaped the destiny of North America, and in which many famous names (Grant, Lee, Jackson) cut their teeth. (2-3 eps)

Poll will run for 10 days - I look forward to your decision, and thank you for supporting the channel!

Hard to choose lol. Wish we could vote on priority

Hugo

Does the second place mean that’s in line for production after the first place? 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Kevin Xu

The logistical challenges of the Egypt campaign, plus the impacts on orientalism and the birth of modern western artifact hunting in Egypt, would make it a fascinating in depth series!

Pierre Arnaud

I'd really like Egypt, especially if you also talk about the scientific nature of the expedition. But i feel it would be good for some people to learn about american independence.

Zr0w3n

As much as I love the Napoleon content, I think having a break before the next one would be good. You can have too much of a good thing

HyperSonicX

I would love a Hundred Days remake, but as like, a capstone to the Napoleon series, once you're done covering Egypt, his coup and the Second Coalition

D Pink

Shut up and take my money! Haha

Tyler Rigdon

Your Napoleon series is what brought me to your channel and I’ve watched all of the Nap content several times, however I’ve been waiting forever for a well done, creative, not sterile series on the American Revolution. You’d be the perfect channel to do it!! Mex-American War is also an incredibly overlooked conflict that had MASSIVE consequence on the modern world. I’d love to see both.

Stuart Carver

Well eventually all of them 😂

David Hennessy

For the love of god folks....we love Napoleon but can we have something slightly different for once. This poll begins with an update on timing for the next Napoleon video (first campaign). Immediately after, we're told work has already begun on another Napoleon video (Eylau). And the front runner so far in this poll is of course.....yet another Napoleon video. Might as well just become the Napoleon channel at this rate 😂.

Fraser Whyte

This was a tough one as I'd really like to see the War of Independence done, but I feel its only right we finish off Napoleons story with Egypt, then we pretty much have the while saga completed.

EpicHistoryTV

It does not. But it means it will definitely return as a future poll option.

Hugo

Okay, sounds good. I’m really hopeful we will get to see a full 100 days someday. It’s the campaign that got me interested in napoleonic wars.

Henrik Granängen

I understand that you think we seem like we're only about Napoleon, but the story needs to be completed. You can't do half of it. Let's tell it all and then move on.

Andrew Herbst

(Egypt: I need to see more Jean Lannes!) I love that you provide opportunities for topics that are uncommon in the 'history world' of YouTube. That is one element I have always loved about this channel. Anything you do is amazing, but I love learning new things and topics I have had limited exposure to. Thanks for all your hard work!

David Hennessy

I know, and I love Napoeleon. But we'll never get any American Revolution, WW2 (or interwar period) or Roman Empire stuff if we keep insisting on covering every Napoleon battle.

EpicHistoryTV

Don't forget the WW2 project is going ahead this autumn regardless of the vote! We now hopefully have the capacity to make two series at the same time, so my general aim is that one of those will be (long) 19th century, the other not.

A.G

I want to see Ceasars war against the Gauls one day on this channel

Ditty Dave

American Civil War please!

Victor Deleon

Wow, this poll is stacked up. I would love to see you guys cover the American Revolution one day, but I also love the Napoleonic content, so I will take whichever of the two. Also, congrats on 2 million YouTube subscribers!!

Medin Burnic

All amazing options! My vote goes toward Egypt. I would especially like to see The American War of Independence or perhaps the Civil War covered at some point. However, I'll be very interested in seeing the whole Napoleon series completed.

Blagovest Tsvetkov

Napoleon in Egypt, followed by the Hundred Days reboot (something I had been thinking about for a while!). I like the occasional change of topics, but overall, you're at your brilliant best discussing Napoleon! It would be interesting as a future idea to also consider episodes devoted to other influential figures from the Napoleonic age (both French and other nationalities, either dedicated episodes for individuals or a few mixed into one).

Zr0w3n

Henrik, the napoleon series will be complete, I'm not sure why you think it wont be done if its not done immediately. It will be, but we need to have a break from Napoleon for while.

Samuel Fisher

Nahh, something new, American War of Independence. The Napoleonic Wars are great and the videos are absolutely briliant but I'd like to see something on a war that would be pivotal in future events.

CrazyLizard!!!

American history is just so dull, though.

David Hennessy

@CrazyLizard!!! Well thats an individual perspective so there's not a soul on the planet that can challenge you on that. I don't really think your contribution to proceedings in enriching the discussion either.

Ryan Cowan

All great options. I chose the Mexican American war because that war had such a big impact on the civil war/America. Also, that time period was so dynamic. Any video you put out is 🔥. Never thought I had an interest in the Abbasid Empire but it was a pleasure.

Mike Sanderson

Marengo was on the poll for 2022 so why is it not an option this time?

EpicHistoryTV

Because I’ve decided I’ll do that phase in chronological order, ie Marengo only after Egypt.

Mike Sanderson

Sad to see Mexican-American War pulling last. If it started with Sam Houston (assume it would) it's incredibly appropriate for this channel. Sam Houston had little formal education, but (and I don't know the specifics) it's mentioned in Ken Burns film "The West" that when fighting for Texas against Mexico, he re-read Caesar's Commentaries https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_Houston_and_slavery#Early_life and applied his understanding of strategy in the lead up to the great victory at the Battle of San Jacinto

MarbleHit

Voted for 100 days reboot but nevertheless im so happy to see Egypt at the top. We just cant have enough of Napoleon. I think hes became an obsession for you too Toby😂😂

Noah S

The American Revolutionary War has enough content to be a full series!! I chose Mexican-American War because it’s so underexposed yet juicy. It probably won’t win but at least it’s on the radar now. Would love to see one-offs for battles like Landshut, Eckmühl, and Dresden too in the future. Hell forget this, I’m upgrading from Epic Patron to Hero right now, you deserve it Toby!

Henrik Granängen

No I know, I'm just saying that it would be nice to finish it and then move on. It's like making three seasons of a show and then move on to another series before finishing the first.

Line_of_Blood

Man I’m surprised Napoleon was on the list again , definitely need a breather between the Napoleon series. Where the Venice part 2? Also what made you interested in wanting to do a series on the Mexican American war?

Henrik Granängen

There ain't that much more of Napoleon to cover if we keep it on the level we have so far? Egypt and maybe how he got into power. I don't support covering single battles (although I'll take it😄)

Danny Loftis

I love all your content so regardless I’ll be happy to support your work.

Daniel Costa

I love your work and it was a Napoleon video that brought me here initially but i have to admit i'm very burned out on Napoleon. I wish other historical periods got the wonderful treatment this channel can give. The american options would be very interesting!

Gage Hardesty

Agree its best to finish it then to not finish it at all.

Gage Hardesty

I went for the Napoleon in Egypt and I get it there's also the history of the American Revolutionary War, the history of my homeland but if there's a series that needs to be completed and then moving on then so be it because I still want to know everything that went down for Napoleon especially the Coup of 18 Brumairre and the whole battle of Marengo then once those are done you can do Eylau and then The Hundred days, and when it's time to get over the Napoleon stuff we can do the American Revolutionary War history just like you wanted in Chronological order!

Richard Hsu

One day I wanna see a Frederick the Great series by EpichistoryTV, after all Napoleon acknowledges him as at least an equal if not superior in tactics (per his famous quote in front of FDG’s grave)

Darko

The Hundred Days (3-4 eps) You got me for episodes number

Teemo The Yiffer

Would love to see Mexican-American or even Mexican revolutionary war, ie Pershing's Invasion / Punitive Expedition.

Eric Hu

A reboot of the hundred days might not win now, but definitely should be done.

Landon Cooper

Definitely the Mexican-American War. As an american, I can safely say it's the most underrated battle in american history. If it didn't happen (or if we'd lost it), the American West would be a vastly different place and our entire history of it would change dramatically.

Landon Cooper

This is obviously just my opinion, but you guys have covered MORE than enough of Napoleon. It'd be a good move to take a break from it.

Amin Ibrahim

Tough to decide between the American revolution and the hundred days. Both are excellent choices. Hot take, Napoleon in Egypt and the Mexican-American War are both sideshows.

DishonorableKnight

If you do Napoleon in Egypt will you follow it up with the battle of Marengo in 1800?

Nigel Pierce

I actually wouldn’t mind videos on the full 1st coalition war and 2nd why not finish

Nigel Pierce

Would love to see the Revolution and civil wars as well but I feel that would be a waste of the narrators unbelievable pronouncing of European names so maybe 7 years war, 30 years war anything in Europe

Giancarlo Andujo

Might as well just finish the whole Napoleonic series 😁

whollibaugh

Been waiting for Venice part 2, too!

Torres

This is a tough one. I guess we would eventually get to all of them. But I agree with Giancarlo Andujo. Let’s see the Napoleonic saga through and through.

Stuart Carver

Looks like Egypt should win so I reckon after that maybe don’t have a Napoleonic option so we can have something fresh as much as I enjoy napoleon. Perhaps put your foot down and do Venice part 2?

Thomas

Decisions, decisions. I’d love to see some more American history, but Napoleon is the priority for me for now. I will say, I’m surprised to see the Mexican-American war mentioned before the ACW - but I suppose if you do decide to cover the ACW someday, the MAW first might help quite a bit. Also, do you think that once Eylau is released, you will rep-upload “March of the Eagles” with Eylau included? That would be very helpful to the cohesion of my EHTV playlist. In any case, looking forward to future projects! Thanks Toby!

Zr0w3n

Mr Epic History TV, May I kindly request that no Napoleon option is included in the next poll. Or have a 2 leg, 'Napoleon' and 'No Napoleon' poll initially, as its clear from the poll and comments that people do not want another Napoleon video, but people are divided as to what other option to go for.

The Imperialist

Two of the Things I would love this channel to start doing is that Start Publishing Country Series Like the Russian History one but more in depht Like the English History starting from the Romans until the Industrial revolution or Ottomans History The other thing that would be intresting is The Persian History since so many Empires rose and fell in that Region

EpicHistoryTV

Nice idea, but not sure it will make sense for Youtube's algorithm. I fear Eylau may have to survive as a stand-alone!

EpicHistoryTV

Are we looking at the same poll?! The two Napoleonic topics seem to have a good lead. But don't despair, there's only a little bit of Napoleon left to go, plus other stuff is already in the pipeline (eg WW2)

EpicHistoryTV

But then there would just be Marengo left to finish the whole saga! Well, we'll see what the people decide..

Dan Jaggers

I'd love to see you cover the American War of Independence as a future topic, but it looks like we are leaning towards completing the Napoleonic saga with Egypt and finally Marengo, so we might as well full speed towards that finish line. I'm almost certain that, at this point, Epic History TV is among the most comprehensive channels when it comes to Napoleonic content, if not the most.

Hisham Yousif

I like this idea a lot. English history (and the rest) covered by EHTV would be, well, you know, epic!

Hisham Yousif

I totally agree. I think there are two camps who love the channel - history folks who want an expansion of the aperture and Napoleon folks. I tend to be both. I do love the Napoleonic content and would probably not get enough until it’s exhausted. Egypt, Marengo, an update of the 100 days, and a Marshals style video of generals of the Napoleonic era (Prussian, Austrian, Russian, and English) and one of Napoleon himself. THEN American war of independence. But Toby seems to be doing the balance quite well.

EpicHistoryTV

Yes, I'm interested in doing more of these 'macro-histories'! It was the original aim of the channel..

Leonardo Espino

I hope that people reconsider and also Vote for the 100 days. It will be AWSOME to finally come full circle from your first video, that isn’t bad, after gaining better experiences in animation and narration. But I don’t blame other folks in wanting more Napoleon in the eyes of wanting Napoleon in Egypt. It seems that Napoleon is indeed your cream and butter

Mohammed Alsaadoon

Mexican American for me. I love some of the more obscure topics

Burt Clothier

I really want to see a treatment of Fredrick the Great and the Seven Years War, but all of the above should be made!

Stuart Carver

Perhaps but then 100 days again which I do wanna see one day but with some variety in between. Plus with Napoleon there’s always more 😉 I’m in no rush to be done with the wee man 😂

Michel Lapeyre

Mexican American war has been generally neglected or passed over but it's importance to the expansion of the US, relations to Mexico and the development of Civil War tactics and leadership fully justify more exposure.

Tristen Cunningham

The American War of Independence is under represented in the Military History Youtube Scene. You'd get soooo many views!

Joseph Cunningham

Would love to see more content on ancient Egypt.

Ted Vignocchi

I certainly hope that we get a series on the Mexican American war in the future. It’s such a fascinating conflict.

Amin Ibrahim

Quick question. In the previous hundred days video, was it at all influenced by Andrew W. Field’s excellent work? If not, I strongly recommend checking it out. His five books on the Waterloo campaign are stellar to say the least, especially his analysis.

EpicHistoryTV

Probably not going to win this time, but we'll almost certainly have it back again as a future option.. and thank you for the support!

EpicHistoryTV

It was not. I've read maybe a dozen books on the battle (it must be one of the most written about battles in all of history!?) but none of his yet... thanks for the recommendation.

Knottingham

i have been eyeing his books for a while, i’m happy to hear they might be warranted a read!

Amin Ibrahim

Truly excellent. IMO the gold standard for what military history should be, and avoids the easy blame game of pinning everything that went wrong on Ney and Grouchy. It also gave me an appreciation of just how challenging being a chief of staff back then would have been!

Andrew Herbst

I would still love to see an option for the Northwest Passage and/or Antarctic explorations!

petr maťátko

Napoleon in Egypt and maybe Battle of Marengo?

KuhlerKarl

Really good options of video topics! Wouldnt mind getting all of them! Have you ever considered making a Video about the Battle of Marengo?

Plebeius

I personally voted for the Mexican-American War, although my first choice was the American Revolution (I really like Napoleon in Egypt too, but I have a feeling it is inevitable you will cover him in his entirety). The reason I did not vote for the American Revolution is that I think it would be a mistake to release the first episode on anything but July 4th. I think that would be a great promotional opportunity, perhaps one worth some extensive preplanning! Obviously, that's easy to say in the comments, but I think it could bring in even more viewers/patreons!

EpicHistoryTV

Yes, Marengo is the obvious next step after Egypt..

JW

The Mexican-American War would be very interesting I think. Thanks for a series of great options.

Bluck

If you decide to do Egypt, since it is the second coalition, it would be lovely to see Marengo in there, as it is one of his most famous battles. It would be nice to have it included as a special episode for example

Plebeius

+1 to Venice! I was hooked!

PastInNumbers

I love the war based series that you do but Europe's revolution video is one of my favorites. My suggestion: include a non violent topic such as your abbasids video. Or as a previous patron suggests, northwest pass/ story of the HMS Terror in the next poll. Personally i like the idea for a , well known and studied, native american tribe episode (cherokee, navajo, comanche)to break up these napoleon episodes.

JDusk

The American war for Independence is definitely my vote, I am a descendant of some of the few loyalists who stayed true to Britain and yet didn't flee to Canada when the war was lost. There are still some bitter feelings about it since a lot of the land and estates my family had were seized and my family were then forced into poverty but stubbornly refused to leave the district of Maine (which was a part of Massachusetts).

EpicHistoryTV

I'm not sure I would call the Abbasids a 'non-violent' video - most people seemed to end up assassinated or executed! But yes I take your point - I would also like to include more non-war on the channel..

Astra Solace

And probably a long awaited redo of Waterloo again once more.

Line_of_Blood

Curious on why the Mexican-American War (1846-48) was an option, that was the last thing i expected to be an option? hope it wins!

EpicHistoryTV

Patrick and Mike, who'll be working on the series, are based in Texas - might have something to do with it!

luc

Napo is going to buzz with Ridley Scott, why not include a kind of "towards the Coup" epilogue in the Egypt campaign. Which could be a step towards a Marengo episode that understands the "rise to empire" in some way.

Rent An Army

Would love to see an American independence series. I don't think any big history channel has covered it in extensive depth.

Chris Miller

While I certainly would love to see Egypt and the completion of Napoleon's campaigns my vote is for The American war of Independence as I would love a move into a new sphere and this gives scope to chart a fascinating period of history looking at the early history of the republic leading through the war of 1812, the Mexican American war and up to the Civil war. While I am sure that Americans are taught almost of this in school it was never touched upon in my time in education

Cuirassier

The Hundred Days would be so awesome and hope to see it in the future, but Napoleon in Egypt is a great follow-up from the Italy series!

PastInNumbers

I used Abbasids as example bc it's not focused on one single conflict, but dynasty as a whole. Violence isn't my issue, as i would be a confused parton if so🙃. Thanks for the response! I genuinely admire you and your team's efforts and productions.

Trent Fila

I just signed up as a patron today, I would have liked to see the 100 days war remake. A history of the Roman world covering monarchy, republic, empire (before belisarius' time) or a history of China covering the dynasties up to today's time would interest me even though they will take about 50 to 100 episodes to produce.

EpicHistoryTV

Thanks Trent! Chinese history is out of my comfort zone, and yes, that might take all of eternity to finish. Rome, however...

Noah S

So it’s happening, confirmed here!! 😍😍😍

petr maťátko

It seems to me that Napoleon will not leave us. I'm holding the marshal's baton and I'm looking forward
