This episode is truly one of my favorites. Just pure walking dead

Nene 🩷

Abrahams actor also plays lex Luther in Superman & Lois (for those who have watched). He’s really good in that & very unrecognizable.

I’m loving rewatching all these and I am beyond excited for you to react to the next few seasons! I’m remembering just how well this show was at continuing to find new challenges and keep introducing great characters and villains to kinda distract you from all the deaths along the way

Mark Laniel

i love how spartan seems amazed by how "stupid" the walkers are all the time lol.....they're dead....their brains dont function. As always thanks for the content guys. I always enjoy it.

JonSnow21

Spartan is right about Daryl kinda misunderstanding Rick’s point about the story of his grandfather and saying “ We are the Walking dead” , It’s a pretty big joke in TWD community bc Daryl kinda ruined the one of the best speeches in the show lol, gotta love him tho. Btw this is the group at their prime definitely, they spent so much time on the road and know exactly how to survive, even ignoring a pack of walkers on their trail , that’s aura personified. Great reaction tho guys , I love how you guys understand that these episodes that are considered “filler” are very important to the story.

PokeTheBear

This episode feels like the part in video games where you get to go around the camp and get to talk to all the members of the group before a mission

Tae Kellz

Pudgy they don't have water. She wasn't trying to bury the frogs 🤣🤣🤣. She was kicking the dirt to see if there was water underneath because it had to be a pond or a stream of water where the frogs were

SnorlaX

how many times does spartan mention Maggie forgot about Beth?

I always really love this episode and agree with you about how great it is when a show has enough time to let the characters breathe and focus on character over moving the narrative forward. Short seasons in TV mean some people have never experienced this depth of story-telling. I imagine some watching this now would say this was filler, when it's such an important chapter in the emotions and bonds of these people.

I think that barn scene with the storm is full of symbolism. Good thing a tornado went by to take the walkers away.

"Them," the tenth episode of The Walking Dead Season 5, is primarily a character-focused episode exploring the group's grief and struggle for survival on the road Here are some facts about the episode: Key Plot and Character Facts "We Are The Walking Dead" Parallel: In this episode, Rick gives a speech in a barn about how "we are the walking dead" to keep their humanity. Later, a herd of actual walkers attempts to break into the barn, a scene which has been interpreted as an homage to the barn in Season 2 and a reinforcement of the show's theme of maintaining one's humanity. Grief and Loss: The episode heavily focuses on the characters dealing with the recent deaths of Beth and Tyreese. -Sasha, in particular, struggles with Tyreese's death and takes her anger out on a group of walkers. -Maggie finds a walker tied up in the trunk of a car, a small, impactful moment that highlighted the brutality of the world and her own emotional state at the time. -Daryl also struggles with mourning Beth and is shown burning his hand with a cigarette to cauterize his emotional pain. Symbolism of the Ram: A dead ram found near a walker caught under it was a deliberate choice by the producers. In the Bible, a ram was the animal Abraham sacrificed in place of his son Isaac, symbolizing one life being spared by another's death and hinting at a "resurrection" theme associated with Beth's storyline. Divine Intervention/Coincidence: The group, dehydrated and desperate for water, finds bottles of water with a note that says "From A Friend". While skeptical (Abraham knocks one out of Eugene's hand), the sky immediately opens up with a torrential downpour, leading Father Gabriel to ask for forgiveness for doubting God. Production & Reception Facts & Viewership: The episode was watched by 12.27 million American viewers upon its initial airing, a decrease from the previous episode, but still a strong performance. Critical Praise: "Them" received generally positive reviews, with Sonequa Martin-Green's performance as Sasha being particularly praised. The episode was described as "contemplative but emotionally satisfying" by Variety.

🎶 on the road again 🎶 THIS episode holds the infamous group of Survivors walking down the road "shot" that is put on [yet still depicted differently, more cinematic-like] that is on alot of posters. Keep up the epic work 🤩🤩

As much as you all miss Shane on the show, you should check out the series the punisher with Jon Bernthal in it’s very good. You will not be disappointed.

Another great reaction! I’m so glad you guys appreciate these slower episodes in Seasons 4 and 5. When they first aired, I honestly saw them as “filler.” I remember feeling so frustrated having to wait a whole week, only to get an episode where it seemed like nothing was really happening. But now, after rewatching the entire series probably a hundred times, I’m actually the most grateful for these episodes. They’re such an important part of what makes the show so powerful and immersive. I honestly don’t think TWD would have stayed with me the way it has without them.

Rick saying "we are the walking dead" was only allegorical to the story of his grandfather. It's something they can tell themselves everyday to accept that this day might be their last, but in the hopes that one day, years later, they have made it out alive and get to live. That's not motivating for Daryl, he needs to remember he is alive now, hence why he needs to feel grief or why he burned himself. Daryl needs to FEEL something, anything. Otherwise he doesn't really see the point.

Ahhh finally Bull Randleman is recognized! 👍 been waiting since he first showed up 😀….. speaking of ….. Rick talking about how his grandfather survived WWII reminds me of that talk in Band of Brothers ep 3 when Speirs is talking to Blythe

Korivex

It was Herschel that spoke of 'getting to come back'. Thank you for knowing when to be quiet and just absorb the emotion and atmosphere.... some people feel the need to speak through it all and not be in the moment. I appreciate that you guys are able to see the whole picture and elaborate on it the way that you do, it makes the show feel new again. I loved the scene at the barn door... the editing was amazing.

Donny

Thanks Pudgey, we almost forgot to mention Shane this week, but you got him in at the end! Haha all jokes, great video

Alexander Ocean

I totally get Sashas anger, but damn it gets annoying lol

Solène Calabrese

I love Sasha and Maggie's friendship, they were with bob after the prison and now they share grief at the same time and complement eachother so well, most people don't like sasha and i don't get it because she is so realistic and the actress did an amazing job portraying her

Dane Haller

i love the walking dead reactions so muchhhh

Joseph F

Lol dont know if you guys noticed!? When Glen says to maggie "maggie take a drink" Spartan is like dont mind if i do!! And drinks 😂😂 Perfect timing

Bill B.

Perfect clip! Makes me want to go and rewatch the series (again!) 👍

Bill B.

I had no idea but that’s pretty funny. I wonder if it was some subconscious cue.

Bill B.

That makes a lot of sense. My initial take on it was that Daryl was a moron and thought Rick was saying they were all walkers. Which Rick would never say and Daryl is not dumb enough to think that. Just two different survival strategies. Everyone will react and cope in their own way and this episode masterfully depicted that.

Gravy

Those dogs were feral, definitely woulda tried to snack on the group

JohnnyUtah

Emily Kinney felt like she was just scratching the surface with her character which I agree. I felt like she just found out who she was in this world. With Tyrese I think that was the culmination of who he was. His arc had reached it's endpoint and with where the show was headed he wasn't going to survive.
