Welcome to phase II of TWD. When I think of The Walking Dead it's usually anything from this point forward. Milton who?

DRIP DROP

Two goats react to a goated show

Golladan

That was Washington DC that Rosita told Abraham to look at.

Golladan

Aaron and Eric were observing and listening to them for a while before approaching. Obviously they are not going to try and recruit people that they deem bad. As for the sounds they heard outside the wall, the point was that at Woodbury and Terminus everything was completely quite. While here they actually hear children laughing and people talking. People being happy.

Korivex

When Rick asked Michonne what she heard at the gates he asked what did she hear at the gates of Terminus and WOODBURRY, not the prison. There was no sounds at these evil places, that is why Rick looked relieved when he heard children at Alexandria. When Rosita was pointing out the city to Abraham it was because it was Washington.... that was Abraham's mission and it was accomplished.

With how much Rick was agonizing over the decision to go this entire episode, we definitely just witnessed waves of relief washing over him once he heard kids playing. There were so many great small character moments this episode. Great ep!

The anticipation to leave this comment makes me question my sanity 🤣 🙌 Worthy of its own comment in my humble opinion, so here it is; ✨️ Rick's White Tshirt; ✨️ Rick Grimes's iconic white shirt turning brown (or grey/maroon) in The Walking Dead symbolizes his descent from a pure, lawful hero into a hardened, feral survivor, stained by blood and moral compromise as he navigated the apocalypse. The shirt, originally a fresh white tee acquired in Season 4, progressively got dirtier, stretched, and darkened from constant wear, battles, and blood, reflecting his transformation and loss of innocence outside the prison walls, eventually becoming almost maroon.  ✨️ The Journey of the Shirt: ✨️ Origin: Rick gets the white shirt in Season 4, Episode 11, from a house while with Carl and Michonne, after the prison falls. Transformation: Over the remainder of Season 4 and into Season 5, the shirt becomes increasingly grimy, grey, and eventually takes on a brownish or maroon hue. Symbolism: Loss of Purity: The white symbolizes his initial desire to be a good guy and maintain order. Moral Decay/Hardening: The darkening color represents his willingness to get his hands dirty, kill, and become more savage to protect his family, mirroring the world's brutality. "Survivalist" Mindset: The shirt's changing color visually tracks Rick's shift from a sheriff to a ruthless survivor, a change emphasized by other symbols **** in Season 5. ( it stated what they were but I deleted them as they haven't happened yet) Essentially, the shirt's changing color is a visual metaphor for Rick's evolving character and his struggle to retain his humanity in a world that demands savagery.

Here are some fun facts and trivia about The Walking Dead Season 5, Episode 11, titled "The Distance": Comic Book Nod: Abraham's surprise that Glenn knows how to work the RV's extra battery is a direct reference to earlier seasons where Dale taught Glenn about his Winnebago. 💔 Original Audition: Ross Marquand, the actor who plays Aaron, originally auditioned for the role of Gareth, the leader of Terminus. 😱😅 Milestone Episode: This episode was the 50th appearance in the series for both Chandler Riggs (Carl Grimes) and Steven Yeun (Glenn Rhee). 🏆 🏆 Rick's Paranoia: Rick's distrust of Aaron is a major theme. He even hides a gun in a blender in an abandoned house along the way, a "Chekhov's Gun" that highlights his caution and expectation of betrayal. The Title's Meaning: The episode's title, "The Distance," primarily refers to the physical distance from the barn to Alexandria, but it also reflects the emotional distance the group has traveled from their humanity and the struggle to regain trust. Off-Screen Following: On an episode of Talking Dead, it was revealed that Aaron had been following Rick's group for about two to three weeks before finally approaching them. This means he may have even witnessed Tyreese's funeral! 🥺 Silly little mistake: A small error occurs when the group passes a road sign; the standard code for a junction is "JCT", but the sign in the episode reads "JTC". The Sound of Hope: The episode concludes with a powerful moment where Rick, holding Judith, hears the faint but clear sound of children laughing from inside the Alexandria walls, which helps him finally relax and feel hope that this place is real. This contrasted with the silence they experienced when approaching other false sanctuaries like Terminus. Is it a trick or not? Tune in next week to find out more! 😉

I guess because you aren't American you wouldn't understand but that was the Washington Monument that Abraham got so see. Meaning they got close to Washington DC after all. Must have made him feel like he somewhat fulfilled his mission.

I just have to say, I was scared for this episode and the introduction of Aaron. Because Spartan is such a Macho man type, I was worried how he'd react to the Aaron and Erik kiss scene, only because I've seen some negative/hateful reactions before and I stopped watching those people. But i'm so glad everything was chill! You two really are my favorites for watching this show right now! So thank you!

Mama Browsss

Came here to say this. It hits way harder when you know they're driving by DC.

Anastasios

it’s crazy how important this is, i always get nervous for stuff like this because so many reactors deem it as unnecessary but Spartan and Pudgey make me feel like i’m in such a safe space, they reacted so normally and didn’t make it a spectacle. Truly my favourite reactors that i’ve watched ❤️

Lucy Fairhurst

I agree, a huge reaction over two guys/girls kissing gives off a weird vibe even if it isn’t explicitly negative but I knew Spartan and Pudgey weren’t gonna be one of those people. Love them!

Does anyone know why the letter J was written on the gun Rick hid at the end?

the continent

Can't believe we're at Alexandria already when we were JUST at the farm. I love that Michonne and Glenn were Rick's main consultants here. Glen was the first from this group he got acquainted with, he took a shot on him. And Michonne is someone HE took a shot on, she was first acquainted with Rick. So he has specific trusting bonds with them from their initial points of contact.

They technically made it to DC finally! That's what Rosita was pointing out to Abraham. Love the Dale reference, I know he wasn't a popular character with everyone but I miss him so much.

yea and the car breaking down means Eugene didn't know shit

Paul

Dale was the best character, not even close! Can't trust anyone who didn't like him.
