Goood evening ya'll - How goes?

All is well here, though very cold for the region. Friend and patron Chris sent me the Annual Falling Iguana alert.

Wishing you a great weekend, hope you're staying warm, and thank you very much for your continued support.

1. Currently reading: 1984 by George Orwell (Paid Link)

Reading it for the first time and enjoying it more than Huxley's Brave New World.

2. Christopher Hitchens - Why Orwell Matters

Good talk on Orwell from Hitchens.

3. An unorthodox interview with Karl Ove Knausgård

Conducted by Bella Freud, the Fashion Designer and Great-Grandaughter of Sigmund Freud.

Some interesting insights from Knausgård in this one. Reminds me that I need to finish 'My Struggle'.

4. New Order-Blue Monday Live

Nice live performance of a classic.

Found from this clip from @deleuzecombination on instagram with Peter Hook tearin up that bass.

5. Lords of the New Church - Dance With Me

The goth/postpunk project of Stiv Bators from The Dead Boys. Great track.

Apparently, as told by musician Michael Monroe, a former roommate of Bators, in this interview on the podcast of Ryan Roxie, Bators once technically killed himself while playing a show when he made a mistake wrapping the microphone around his neck and hanged himself, but was later revived at the hospital.

Ohhh! I can’t wait to watch the KOK interview. I am on book 4, need to finish that series. Have you read any of his other books? I bought Autumn but haven’t read it yet and he has several others I want to get as well. I just ordered The Morning Star.

Looking forward to that 1984 review. I read it back in school and reread it a couple of years after. I wonder what it would be like to read it for the first time again. Orwell created such an accurate depiction of totalitarianism that it's almost impossible not to draw parallels to current politics, even 80 years later. The book reminds me of Laibach's shows in that way. They drown you in these propagandistic catch phrases and you realise that the game of power and control never really changes, only the surface aesthetic is a little different. Totalitarianism is still around and will probably be around for ever.

Orwell's 1984 is a modern classic. I read it in my young days, and would never have thought it possible to face such an autocratic approach in my lifetime. But here we are, the Woke movement is exactly fulfilling Orwell's darkest prophecies.

Thanks for sharing your unconventional worldview. It’s the perfect mix of the very good stuff and the most interesting.
