Ryder Owens

Holy crap I’m only 10 minutes into this video and this might be the best video I’ve ever seen

Ryder Owens

It was throwing me off at first, but then I realized what kind of characters Xemnu is and this is perfection

Fish_Hemsworth

9 minutes in, and I just KNOW this is gonna be good. It’s always fun when the person editing gets to play with the formula established.

Arin Hunter

I need more videos like þis one. I love constructive gaslighting. Need more!

Asterism

I can’t believe the Hulk managed to brainwash everyone into thinking Xemnu was the villain all along

DrewconicSorceress

Thank God it was only psychic interference, for a moment I thought the Network avatar was consuming your consciousness and trying to sell me on a new hero.

Cyan _

you claim this is a halloween video,, and yet there is a sexy grinch at 23:15... its actually a christmas video

TBSkyen

Huh. A villain who uses the ubiquity of media to distort the public's perception of a hero as his primary weapon... why am I getting such an ominous sense of deja-vu?

Sir_Superhero

Xemnu may or may not have been an inspiration character of mine XD

Sir_Superhero

"Constructive gaslighting" is the PERFECT term for this, wow

Arin Hunter

Þis is exactly þe kind of shit I wanna do when I do a Super Sentai review series. I wanna do every season in chronological order... Including Ninja Captor. And use constructive gaslighting to create a revolution þat will cause Toei to HAVE to make Ninja Captor canon. I want more videos like þis so I can learn from you.

Textures

Ever Thought of having uncensored version for patreon only

Sir_Superhero

I considered it, but it would require more edits and I was down to the wire on this one anyway given how many special effects I had to do :P

The Menagerie

Good horror opening because I did remember Xemnu as the hulk villain (I have DID and so of course I've read the 'hulk has did' comic)

Christopher Ulichney

Excellent video. I'm actually old enough to have watched all those real 1970s Marvel cartoons and read 90% of all of Xemnu's appearances up through the She-Hulk issues. Your going to make me go and track down those Immortal Hulk issues now. Oh, I've also read every issue of the U.S.1 comic and every appearance of Ulysses Solomon Archer thereafter, so you are going to need to make that U.S.1 video sooner rather than later, please.

Steve Hedge

Funny thing is, xemnu’s plan to go back to his planet but the ship would blow up the planet is the exact plot of the doctor who episode with the meep

Terydtl

ok while i do like the twist at the start i do think you played your hand a bit too early, by the time i heard "Xemnun was a massive sucsess unlike any other" i was basicaly like "i think we all know where this is going so lets just skip to the end" and skiped forward to when the real video started. i think it would have been better if it started out as "xemnu was a moderate sucsses" and then slowly bult up him being the center of marvel from there.

Cynthia Faye

i loved this video, im so blindly in love with ewing's work especially the meta rabbit hole thor's been on lately

Horrible Friend Brandon

I mean it sounds like you’re just no fun. That seems like the main problem to me.

Terydtl

... I said I liked the twist it was fun, I'm just saying it could have been better

QRS 2004

Network started to come out a little bit they're Matt and it's a little scary and love it lol

Freddie

As soon as I heard the production company name I got suspicious, this is one of the greatest videos I’ve ever watched (many other sir superhero videos are on that list)

Victoria Wesson

I'm only a single session into my Marvel TTRPG and I know exactly how I'm gonna gaslight my players for season 2 now.

Matthew

I requested this episode off your TikTok comments! Thank you so much for the amazing video! So glad other people remember watching Xenmu as a child!

CJ13

God this guy just does not miss. Happy Halloween everyone!!

Redicular

Spoilers! don't read til after video watch! I want to say, you 100% got me with the opening, but the thing that did it? Chad Hammer I'm old enough to have been watching the Xemnu cartoon when it was live.. and I very vaguely, veerry slightly remembered Chad Hammer from the Thor books... the old "chad hammer... where do i know that from" type thing. I almost paused the video to go on a google dive. so in the context of the vid... just kind of filed it as another kid's show i barely remember, which led me to believe in the Xemnu show. So yeah throwing it in as an easter egg was cool, but at least for one viewer, it actually sold the story even better

Braystar

The use of nostalgia to brainwash people is very important for people to know, especially in this last week.

OrderlySummit

Matt gaslighting the audience the same way they did in-universe is great, what an absolutely wild episode to go up on my birthday lmao. And a hell of a first Halloween special

Cutter

Xemnu is just the memberberries from south park.

Bailey

THIS WAS SO COOL!!!! LIKE THE COOLEST THING! I would love to see some more immersive stuff like this at some point. Like this was awesome

Bailey

So you just said you didnt even watch it... You cant critique something you skipped.

Loupy

Loved this episode. Really great theme.

Terydtl

I didn't say I skiped all of it, I got to the point where he got glitchy and said xemnu was basically the most successful thing ever and new how the rest was going to go so I skimed past the next bit. Again I liked the twist it was cool I'm just saying it could have been better.

Spencer

I loved this. I was working last night, so I couldn’t watch, but this was FANTASTIC

Vinny

Fantastic video as always Sir! On a side note, immortal hulk is one of my fave comics and I’d go feral for a video essay over it from you!!!!

Holden Kodish

This is one of the best halloween videos, let alone comic videos I’ve seen in a long time. Can’t wait for the Dr. Druid Arbor Day Special!

Domicci

great video love your showing off lesser known character

Archaeolinguist

Xemnu has been one of my favorite villain designs for a while, it’s such a simple, straightforward design that completely belies the sort of character he is. You see big hairy monster and expect a brute, instead you get one of the most insidious psychological villains out there!

Caitlyn Dare

Nah I'm pretty sure that's the abominable snowman from Scooby-Doo

Phanpy100

Commenting here still just to tell you that because of the original youtube video a meme started among my gaming friends (none of which have read ANY superhero comics) where we would just constantly ask eachother "you remember, xemnu right? From the magic planet?", Only one other person there knows the tl;dr of what we are actually referencing with that Anyhow love your videos but that alone was worth the 5 bucks a month

agreydolphin

there's a recent fantastic four comic with a similar concept. it's... it's so good
