Matt O'Keefe

"Is that Joffery?" One of the reactions we were all waiting for. Of course.

Michael

You haven't watched any superheros except Ironman... oh boy the journey we have ahead of us!

David Girard

Are you planning to watch the dark Knight that’s the movie that’s the one with the Joker and Heath Leger, who died shortly after the filming was done of the movie. He plays the Joker.

David Girard

And if you like the Batman movies, you should definitely watch the one with Robert Pattinson that came out in 2022

David Girard

What did you think of Gary Oldman as commissioner Gordon and Michael Caine as Alfred and also Cillian Murphy a Scarecrow

Matt O'Keefe

I did not notice the no bra thing until you pointed il out. Probably because I am a guy.

Wil Castillo

Before you watch the next one, you should know that Rachel Dawes is played by a different actress in The Dark Knight.

Clay F

I think the poll was for the trilogy -- all 3. Did you see that post and discussion?

TThxlxnge

Klaire has been watching too much GOT, now she worries all love interests in shows and movies are related 😂😂

Apotheosis

Please don't go down the road of superhero slop.

David Girard

Klaire what’s your letterbox name because I would like to add you to my letterbox and you can follow me if you want my letterbox name is collector movie man

Mik

Agreed if ur referring to going down the marvel road, but if not, this trilogy is amazing and definitely not "Superhero slop". The next movie is incredible.

defunctus

DC stands for Detective Comics.

Craig Fowler

The Dark Knight is an amazing movie. Chicago could do with a Batman

So_Kang

Joffrey's evil arc hahaha. This Batman trilogy is maybe the least superhero type? Like maybe a really rich, smart, physically strong, and trained person could do this IRL? 3.9 seems fair considering this genre is not your favorite. Look forward to the next :)

sabbasi

unnecessarily reductive to denote this genre as "slop" when there's a myriad of wonderful stories written and crafted beautifully in the superhero genre (for example, the Dark Knight trilogy, early marvel/animated spiderman movies, Matt Reeves' Batman, the Daredevil show, etc). However, I understand the disdain for recent marvel projects as I agree those are "slop" lol.

Kurtis Keith

Batman Begins is a really solid super hero movie. Three and a half stars is a pretty accurate rating. The Dark Knight, however, is not only the best super hero movie ever made, but genuinely just one of the best movies of all time. Loved this reaction, can't wait for the next one!

Micheal Cains neva lives rent free in my head all these years

Tom2113

1:05:00 I enjoyed the combination of it all kicking off on screen while your cat is just making biscuits in the back 😄

I’d say BB and iron man are two of the better superhero films, with a lot of the marvel ones, in my view, just becoming a blur of action with characters secondary. It’s funny to me that you associate superhero films with corny lines, but you enjoyed LOTR which to me was some of the most saccharine, sentimental dirge I’ve seen in my life. BB was the first ‘serious’ Batman film I’d say, and a move away from the camp and slightly silly Batman of previous eras. Maybe it’s the earnestness of it you find corny - I guess a lot of more modern stuff leans towards being cynical and hyper self aware. Anyway, personally I’d give it a 4.5, partly because it’s an important film, but it also just feels super heavyweight to me. The first act was really epic, it was tightly edited and raced along, and the performances, cast and script were really solid. I think we were spoiled in that late 90s, 2000s era - years pass now without anyone making a film of this kind of quality.

My top 5 Batman movies: 1. Nolan Batman Trilogy = more serious. 9/10 2. The Batman (2022) = like the aesthetics. 8/10 3. Batman (1966) = If I want campy, I go with Batman (1966) because that is where my nostalgia lies. 7/10

Clay F

Rachel (Katie Holmes) is beautiful. Christian Bale is my favorite Batman. Enjoyed your reaction. 3.9 is fair. I watched the Adam West Batman TV series in the early 1970s as kid -- would watch after school during the week. But I was never into superhero movies. My first full watch of a Batman movie was coincidentally Batman Begins (in 2012). I took my kid to the theater to watch a special showing of the Nolan Batman trilogy (back-to-back) at his request, and didn't expect to like it -- but I did.

Wayne

Skipped to the end to see your thoughts, I think you liked it slightly more than me, im fairly thin on superhero stuff though, I liked the next one in this series a lot.

armday

The right amount of a little romantic tension. He is by far the best batman. 4/5 for me. Little side note is tom cruise made katie holmes leave her role in the next one.

fargoboyle .

It was Michael Caine (the butler), but not a lot of people know that ;)

Andy Roberts

Glad you enjoyed the movie, Klaire. The problem with every Batman film made is the screenwriters focus more on Bruce Wayne’s character than they do on Batman, simply because Batman (and his villains) are just cyphers - a vehicle for the action and their struggle of duality - what they were before and what they became, after their personas were created. Bruce Wayne on the other hand is a troubled and tormented man in this movie - tormented by the death of his parents and troubled for the future of Gotham City and how it can be saved. That’s what makes him more interesting than Batman for screenwriters to explore. It’s different with, say, the Superman franchise, where the script focuses more on the Man of Steel than it does Clark Kent, and that’s because their alter egos are just so different. As Clark Kent, Superman has to portray him as a buffoon, to hide his secret, and because of that, it makes his character less interesting. The character of Superman is more interesting than Clark Kent because of all the super heroic things he can do, and it’s that which gets him more screen time. As you noted, the cast in Batman Begins is top notch. Christian Bale is superb in his dual role. The British/Welsh born actor perfectly captures the essence of Bruce Wayne’s carefree billionaire lifestyle whilst also bringing a gritty intensity when playing Batman. Bale is joined by fellow British thespians Michael Caine and Gary Oldman who offer Bruce Wayne/Batman moral support and Northern Irish actor Liam Neeson is superb as the villain, Ducard. So glad you’ve dipped your first toe in the superhero waters with Batman Begins, and hopefully it will spur you on to watch other versions of Batman outside the Nolan trilogy. Tim Burton’s “Batman,” (1989) is a great place to start. A little bit more campy (in places) than the Nolan trilogy but still mostly played seriously with great performances from Michael Keaton (Bruce Wayne/Batman) and Jack Nicholson (The Joker). I think many of your Patreon members (including myself) would suggest you also watch the very first superhero movie that made the great transition from comic book to screen, and that is Richard Donner’s 1978 movie “Superman The Movie,” (or just “Superman” as it’s listed in the opening credits.) This is still the No. 1 superhero movie that all others are judged by! It has a perfect cast, story, production and a wonderful music score by John Williams (“Jaws,” “Star Wars,” “Raiders of the Lost Ark,”) and I’d love to see your reaction to it, and it’s sequel (the imaginative titled) “Superman II.”

FullMetal B

Well thats just absolutely not true for The Batman (2022).

Randall_Flagg

I was waiting all movie to see what you'd say about Rachel's outfit in the end scene. Was not disappointed haha!

MoShou

2:05:12 I thought you said the only superhero movie you watched was Iron Man? 🤨😏

Jonathan Blaze

3 out of 5 stars for me. This movie is very overrated. It's good but not that good. Definitely one of Nolan's lesser films.

Hagrid

🤡 yeah we all know why you're saying that

5:03 "is this a concentration camp" is wild. Only the US, and I believe Namibia and Malaysia, dress their prisoners in bright orange. :D In Europe they mostly wear their own clothes (within regulations) or they copy some sort of work utility clothing that regular professions use, for example overalls and shirts that carpenters would wear. This is so the public does not recognize them as prisoners (so the opposite idea as in the US) because forcing clothing on human beings that has the potential to stigmatize them in the eyes of society violates their dignity. And "human dignity shall be inviolable". The Batman scene is set in Bhutan (filmed in England) and seems to follow a similar approach with prisoners wearing a large array of different clothing articles that only seem to follow a loose color preference of dark blue. Clearly made for the movie, but believable to be functional everyday wear provided by the prison, possibly collected via donations. Happy you enjoyed the film, cool reaction. :)

Klaire, You have perfectly figured out Batman on your very first Batman movie and that's impressive. Batman doesn't kill. He just breaks every bone in your body and turns you into a vegetable 😂
