thank you for this fascinating ethnographic study of the youth of today 🙏 as an aside, I'm from the UK and teach 16-year-olds and it has been incredibly interesting to me to see Taylor's rise in popularity with this age group over the past couple of years. They all loooove folklore and ATW10! Occasionally I have some of them come up to me to discuss how they have just discovered Speak Now for the first time and there's been other times I feel like a decrepit keeper of the ancient knowledge when they tell me Jake Gyllenhaal is the devil and I say actually it's John Mayer and they go "who?" 😭

This eleven year old is making my whole week ahahahahahha But about the whole new/young swifties thing: I wouldn’t consider myself an new swiftie but NEVER an old swiftie. I started listening to her in the red era (but only singles because radio was my only way of getting in touch with new music). Since 1989 I became a fan due to me wishing the album on cd from my parents and listening to it all the time. Since Rep it became more serious because I had access to streaming and in general the internet. But its harder for people who aren’t native English speakers to get into Taylor when she’s all about lyrics. But since I became better time to time I got it. I’m still sad that I wasn’t into fandom stuff until a few years ago and I’m also sad to never be an og fan but how when I couldn’t understand english??? But the pod helps me a lot to catch up. So I guess it’s especially for international fans harder to get deeply into her
