One of the more… problematic episodes of MLP. 😬 If you’re gonna borrow the trappings of North American colonialism, maybe don’t use it to tell a “both sides were in the wrong” narrative. 😓

Honestly this is one of my least favourite episodes of season 1. Like i always skip this episode when i rewatch the series. It's not exactly my taste.

There’s a single scene I like in the episode and it’s the “Fluttershy is a tree” scene.

Yeah, using a clear reference to manifest destiny and the displacement of Native Americans as the set up for a "sharing is caring" lesson probably wasn't the best idea. It's no wonder this episode is so controversial. At least the bison designs are really good.

Unfortunately, this episode has some pretty fun moments but... yeah, definitely not... the best episode... or the most sensitive... Just glad it's over. To my memory, this is the only one that is kind of... problematic like this Anyway, my honest opinion in a whole, I think it's generally well intentioned, trying to teach kids about compromise. But portraying the buffalo as a real human culture that was really did dirty (putting it EXTREMELY mildly) was questionable

Technically the buffalos were never on the wrong, it was the ponies all along because the ones who didnt let the buffalos and ponies negotiate were the ponies too (RD and AJ) meaning it was the ponies fault all along, because buffalos were disposed to negotiate, but RD and AJ didnt let them talk on their own, and the buffalos were always right that 1. It was their land and 2. The ponies didnt ask them and inmediatly started building there and the moment the buffalos approached to talk, ponies runned away or attacked them, so... 100% accurate, actually... even the damn ending is accurate "hey, we are letting you have this small portion of land momentarily, the one that was yours but WE are letting you have it... be thankful for that! Otherwise ypu are ungrateful!"

The train being pulled by ponies will never not be funny because it has an engine 😂🤣😂🤣 This is addressed in Fallout equestria and is hillarious, because is said that ponies made steam engines that work on coal but there isnt coal at all in equestria 🤣😂🤣😂

And funnily, a horse has more than 1 horsepower, it has an average of 15 horsepower, so the 6 ponies pulling the train are doing 90HP 😂🤣

The show came out in the early 2010's, not the 2000's. But yeah, this was definitely controversial upon release. Which is why you don't have to worry about memorizing the buffalo's names, because they never appear again.

I don’t like this episode very much, but the scene where Fluttershy says « I’d like to be a tree! » is still one of my favorite scenes of the early seasons. Kinda disappointed that Morg was too busy being annoyed by the whole trying to sleep thing, but hey, what can you do 😛
