On this month's Star Wars Gleep Glossary, we're chatting about the one and only, red-faced, spiky-headed Sith master, Darth Maul!

Why couldn't they leave well enough alone and leave this dude D-E-A-D dead? Does Zabrak sound like a slur? How lazy is it, if you're writing a character's bio, to just give up and say that the details of his early life were "nonexistent"? Was Maul a good candidate for writing his own lunatic manifesto? And is a Sith Ianvarok like a special Dark Side spork? PLUS: Steve's Darth Maul face paint melts off right at the start of the show!

Gleep Glossary: A Star Wars Story is a show where the guys try to honor the history and legacy of Star Wars characters, most of whom we've been told don't matter anymore!

Thank you for being so incredible by continuing to support this weird, wild adventure we're on! You make this all possible! We know you have lots of options when choosing which pods you listen to and we very much appreciate you carving out some time for us!

YES YES YES! Tall glass of water in hand, signing up for jobs because life's a bitch,:), and soon to head to a day of band practice. What better way to start the morn than with my favorite wHM side show? Can't wait! Love yous guys, stay safe out there. Erick, this bluesuit can't wait for the next HOTJH, and for what it's worth, a commentary--as discussed in the last ep--would be thoroughly enjoyed. :)

Not sure who is doing the Palpatine impression, it's great but it sounds closer to Hamil's Joker to me. Still love it!

I'm looking forward to the Jurassic world rebirth episode in next Year's worst of the year. Hopefully it will be all bad movies and not one bad movie and four we liked.

Eren Keskin

Doctors HATE him. Sith lost HALF his bodyweight using this easy method! Find out how!

Randy Billings

How did your guys forget his appearance at the end of Solo?

Paul

“What did they say?”

I agree with you that they probably should have just made a new character, but considering how the terminally online Star Wars fans have reacted to basically every new character in the last 20 years….it’s not looking so good. Of course Disney’s gonna trot out Kenobi and Maul shows, they probably aren’t getting tons of hate mail and death threats to the people involved when they do those. (Moses’ treatment during Kenobi airing not withstanding)

Lar

I mean they did bring up which crime syndicate he was working with in Solo.

And now that the episode is out, I get to relay my favorite Maul related story - to hear Filoni tell it, the decision to bring him back went roughly akin to GL: "Great idea for ya, Dave, you're gonna love this - Darth Maul? We bring him back." DF: "Okay. Cool idea. But how? He was cut in half." GL: "Figure it out." Would post the actual page where this got cited in one of the Marvel SW comments, but as I can't post images here, will put it in the GG chat channel.

Darth Maul having to kill more and more people who keep learning that information is pretty much the story of Leigh Whannell’s character in the opening scene of The Bye Bye Man. Don’t think it, don’t say it.

Oh, I was so happy to get a Cerveza Cristal drop in there. I don't think there was one last month.

I have to admit I love the (likely totally unintentional) erotic subtext in the bit the gang does of Darth Maul showing off all his tattoos to Palpatine. Showing off some sweet Maul thigh to his master. 😘

Jason

One of my favourite “tall-glass of water” thoughts a buddy said was: “Do you think Darth Maul liked Cherry Pepsi? He seems like he would.”

Matt

Is it weird that I agree with him?

Kureigu

Lol it's so funny how much of this info was retconed even before the clone wars stuff, the dathomir origin was in a lot of the novels involving maul and the Robot legs and final duel with obiwan was from a compilation comic book called infinities . The spider leg thing was all clone wars .

Adam Ray

Wasn't "The Crimson Dawn" one of the terrorist groups Hans asked to be released in his fake demands in Die Hard?

Daimon

Sometimes when the guys talk about the Clone Wars I’m curious if they know about the chronological order.

RJ Cunningham

I think Andrew meant “a whole generation of -gleeps-“ @ 4:05

Sam Witwer was one of the fighter pilots in BSG, for 9 episodes, which is primarily what I remember him from. Crashdown, ig.
