Happy Holidays, y'all! We're certainly in the thick of now, aren't we? Ah, yes, this beautiful annual nether space between Christmas and New Year's that's so peaceful, so quiet, so... eerie? Well, you're in luck because even though we're still on our holiday break, we've got a couple of kick-ass options to toss your way this week to keep you company/sane. Let's take a look at what's happening in the WHMu this week:

First up today, we dropped our final syncable commentary track of the year, that's right, the King of Kongmentary! It was so much fun going back to this doc after all these years, marveling at the chunky early-aughts DV footage and making fun of Billy Mitchell, video games' biggest villain! You can sync up and rewatch with us, or just listen to the track and have a laugh if you remember the movie well enough! It's already available on here as of this morning to supporters at the $8 tier & up!

Then tomorrow, on our final episode of 2025, we're chatting about the ridiculous Canadian holiday slasher, Terror Train! Yes, it's a 1980 Halloween knock-off that also stars Jamie Lee Curtis! It also stars... kind of... famed billionaire magician, David Copperfield! Oh, yeah, weird! You can get in on all the holiday slasher nonsense on here AD-FREE at the $8 tier & up!

And that'll be a wrap on 2025, gang! It's been a wretched year that the four of us are happy to see go, however we want to make sure that we're also appreciating and acknowledging the good that somehow managed to find its way to us this year as well:

We had some fun with theme months like WAIT, WHAT-uary, where this February we covered a bunch of films that had some wild twists to them, like Identity, Vanilla Sky, Signs & more! We also had another fun Listener Request Month and this year's Halloween celebration was one for the books!

We also had boots on the ground at three major North American festivals this year as we took in some cinema at SXSW, TIFF & NYFF, then told y'all about it on On-Screen Live!

We welcomed a good group of folks to guest on episodes throughout the year. Long-time buds returned, like Angelica Jade Bastién, Ben Worcester, Jamelle Bouie, James A. Janisse, and Chelsea Rebecca; we also welcomed a new bud on just recently, who will most certainly return, the great Alonso Duralde!

And like every year, we hit the road! This year's live shows looked a little different as we traveled overseas for the first time to perform a residency at the Oxford Comedy Festival! We played six shows over three nights and the place was packed each night. When we started this thing 15 years ago in Eric's bedroom, getting to do something like this wasn't even on our minds. So the fact that we got to do this, and have the opportunity to meet so many incredible people while there, was really humbling. The world may be a toilet, but there are kind, generous people in it and we're super lucky that those folks come out to our shows.

Stateside touring was minimal this year, however getting to celebrate 15 years on the air at the Bell House in Brooklyn a few weeks ago was a really beautiful thing. A perfect mix of nostalgia and us doing what we do best: goofing on movies! We had so much family and long-time friends in the audience, including folks we hadn't seen in ages, and it all made for a really special night.

A finally, the biggest honor of every year, getting to do these shows for you all out there in Patreon land. You are our biggest supporters and the only reason we're still going strong after 15 years is because of you all. There's no way we could keep this up without your support and we thank you, all of you, from the bottom of all four of our hearts.

Have a fantastic final few days of 2025. Let's all focus on love, happiness and trying to laugh a little more in the new year.

Until 2026,

Andrew, Chris, Eric & SteveWe Hate Movies

Happy New Year, WHM friends! I'm approaching 10 years as a listener in 2026 and I'm quite thankful I discovered the podcast way back when. It definitely wasn't a great year but all the laughs make the long weeks a fair bit easier.
