This month on our cartoon recap show, "White Guy Karate" Month spills over to Animation Damnation as we chat about a ridiculous episode of the Karate Kid cartoon!

We're talking about the outrageous episode, "Homecoming," which originally aired back on September 23, 1989 and features Daniel-san taking Mr. Miyagi and Taki to Newark, New Jersey, his home town, to try and shake down a bunch of antique dealers on the hunt for this magical idol! How fabulous is this theme song? Doesn't Daniel have any family back in Jersey? What's with all those bees? And how is Daniel our hero when he and Miyagi completely ruin this old Italian man's livelihood?

The Karate Kid features the voice talents of Joey Dedio, Robert Ito, Janice Kawaye, and Pat Morita as Mr. Miyagi (kind of).

Thanks so much for being so awesome and supporting Animation Damnation on Patreon! Please be sure to spread the word! Your support is what keeps this operation going! We know you have a number of choices for pods and we appreciate you spending some time with us!Original cover art by Felipe Sobreiro.

The swinging testicles in 80s business mens' offices are called a Newton's cradle, and while I've never heard anyone say Newton's balls, Wikipedia tells me that's an alternate name, which I'm sure Steve will be pleased by.

*camera pans through bedroom window to the stars* a child’s voice-“DIC” I wanted to really just hit on the nostalgia but that is a tough acronym for the situation

One of my favorite long-running non-joke bits is when Andrew admits he plans to watch the entire series after covering an episode on Animation Damnation. Always puts a smile on my face.

Joey Dedio also voiced the redhead kid pressuring the main character to do drugs in Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue. His voice is so distinctive to me.

Craig

Steve only remembering the voice about halfway through the episode made me laugh. Better late than never!

Born and raised Toronto. Its a deep fried rice patty as the base! Not to be confused with a dry rice cake. They form a patty from sushi rice and deep fry it.
