“We need to institute the Purge so Tom Six can finally release The Onania Club!” - Steve

On this week’s show, the 2023 Halloween Spooktacular continues with an episode on the half-baked horror sensation that started it all, The Purge! Why couldn’t they figure out some way to get the movie out of this house for a few scenes? Does this film universe presuppose that all of us have hidden serial killer desires? Why couldn’t we see some white collar Purge-related crimes? And how are so many people getting lost in this stupid house? PLUS: During the Purge, be on the lookout for Houdini: the Beastiality Fiend!

The Purge stars Ethan Hawke, Lena Headey, Max Burkholder, Adelaide Kane, Rhys Wakefield, Tony Oller, Chris Mulkey, Arija Bareikis, and Edwin Hodge as Bloody Stranger; directed by James DeMonaco.

“He will fuck your dog, or your cat, cum in your fish tank!” Steve is particularly delightful on this episode. 😂

I *unfortunately* was into this franchise enough that I did catch the TV show. You guys were actually mostly on-point. Season 2 jumps around through other points in the year but Season 1 was all within the span of a single Purge night and it's a real snooze-fest. At a certain point I realized it must've been 3:00am on the show and I was just wondering if anyone was going to maybe consider just going to bed.

The Mystery Science Theater 3000 jokes were chefskiss perfect. It cracked me up on my way to the gym. Thank you. This movie is such hot garbage. I saw it opening weekend because the premise was interesting but what a waste of time. 🙃

NFlux Forever

The Forever Purge scares the shit out of me, because it could potentially happen for real.

Frank Grimes

TIL, the Purge and Jack are one in the same.

MarkNM

I like when I go in blind, get a good episode, AND avoid having to ever waste 2 hrs on a trash film. Maybe I'll do the sequels. Thanks for taking the bullet!

Hard To Gwil

Devil's Rain! I'll be Ernest Borgnine-ing all week in anticipation!

Wesley Hall

For anybody interested, Theres a Joe Bob episode on Devils Rain on shudder!

HockeenightsCT

I think we are missing the obvious crossover - American Pie: Purge

Jason

Of the four, I would imagine Eric has the most detailed and elaborate list of potential Purge targets.

Brendan Flanagan

I kind of liked the Purge show. Way more than this first movie.

Kureigu

Think the guys would like the series (at least season 1), it's more about life between purges and more interesting than this movie.
