This is the second part of the series on Iridescent Materials in Unity. In this post, I will show how it is possible to replicate the colours in the visible spectrum, without relying on a texture. This is an essential step if we want to simulate iridescent reflections correctly.
- Part 2. Improving the Rainbow (Part 1)
- Part 3. Improving the Rainbow (Part 2)
The second part of this post will be released next week. However, if you are eager to compare the different techniques described, you can visit Shadertoy.
You can read the rest of the series here:
- Part 1. The Nature of Light
- Part 4. Understanding Diffraction Grating
- Part 5. The Mathematics of Diffraction Grating
- Part 6. CD-ROM Shader: Diffraction Grating (Part 1)
- Part 7. CD-ROM Shader: Diffraction Grating (Part 2)
- Part 8. Iridescence on Mobile
You can download the Unity project for the CD-ROM shader here ($25+ patrons only).
As always, thank you for your support. And for your patience. ♥
