studiogek

I (carter) make the captions every time...

Kite

it's not that deep bro, chill

Shockbile Gaming

you guys talked too much on the first episode, but on the second really liked when you locked in. Its a really great story

AV

Naruto writer forgot Rock Lee exists. Oda would never.

Earthshatter

yeah the names sound similar but the writer does it a lot I mean tobirama, tobi, obito, naruto, boruto are some i can think of the top off my head

KrisSto

Oda forgot his own rock lee and his name is usopp tbhhh

Alex Ramirez

FYI this backstory happens during the timeskip of OG Naruto to Shippuden in the manga. I'm not really too sure why they decided to hold it off 100 episodes into Shippuden 🤷‍♂️

Obito is not just a character: he is a feeling, an emotion, a soul. Often at night, when I am lying down to sleep, I close my eyes and think of Obito lying alone on the cold, hard ground—one eye closed to the world, the other carrying his endless resolve—caught in the space between two worlds. My mind and body feel at ease, and I fall asleep. It is because Obito possesses such a love for his companions, Kakashi and Rin, his sensei, and the shinobi world itself, that he does not want them to suffer in any way. And so as his final act in this world, he sacrifices himself and bequeaths his Sharingan to Kakashi. By doing so, he does 2 things: firstly, he continues to live on as the guardian of his closest friend. Secondly, he is able to continue seeing through the fate of the world that he feels so deeply for. When I say that Obito lives on, I don’t just mean metaphorically. Obito is Kishimoto’s depiction of solipsism: the philosophical theory that one’s own mind/self is the only thing that can be known to exist. It is an idealist thesis stating that because “only my mind exists,” then it follows that “only minds exist.” In the case of Obito specifically, this is portrayed in the form of his Sharingan, which symbolizes his mind and will to love/protect the world. Even with his physical body destroyed, by giving his Sharingan to Kakashi, he continues to LIVE in this way. From this point on, Kishimoto’s pen is set ablaze, and there are layers and intersecting themes in his writing that I still cannot wrap my mind around despite having loved this show for so many years. He integrates philosophy into societal conflict on a unique level. And with the way he portrays it all through the depth of his story and characters—there is nothing like this. Obito is not just a character, he is the manifestation of pure, undying love—love that transcends the boundaries of life and death. And I love him endlessly. Rest among the stars🕊️🌌

Tomato

I'm sorry but I think the sensei's name is unknown at this point in the anime. So please consider hiding it!

TrueCrisp

Rock lee was shown as one of the strongest characters in OG and was a fan favorite for a lot of people but was completely abandoned for shippuden, rip my boy

Vallll

During Kakashi Gaiden, Kakashi was 12 (jonin) , while Rin and Obito were 13 (both Chunin). To answer Jack’s question, Uchiha don’t usually start with 2 tomoe. Obito is him! Minato had a wonderful squad: Rin who could perform an eye transplant surgery on the battlefield, Obito who starts off with 2 tomoe and has a strong determination, and Kakashi the prodigy who creates Chidori at age 12 and becomes Jonin.

TrueCrisp

true but it'd still be nice to see my boy

Marcus D

Insane glaze 😭

AV

Writer's skill issue

Marcus D

That’s just Japanese for you, isn’t it. Majority of the words Kishimoto uses for character names in Naruto are just everyday words. Minato= Port (Tobira)ma= door (Hashira)ma= Pillar Naruto= fish cake Itachi= weasel Neji=screw Boruto= Bolt Kiba=fang Just wanted to throw those translations out there 😂

Vallll

The Orochimaru that Sasuke defeated lost all of his ninjutsu, whereas Kakashi was afraid of the Orochimaru who was at full power and was able to defeat the third Hokage. Even if A defeats B, and B defeats C, it doesn’t mean that A can defeat C. The power scaling in Naruto isn’t as straightforward as shows like Dragonball Z.

Karlsefni

Jack, I love your insight but For the love of subtitles - I would recommend not shifting your eyes/ entire body towards the Geks when you have something to say lol - I understand your at the end of the couch so you have to do so in order for Brig & McKay to hear you but in the proccess you sometimes miss good/important dialogue

Enma

Kakashi just received the greatest gift you could ever get, but at what cost... rip Obito

Earthshatter

so when it comes to power scaling I feel like people always think "if this character beats that character then that means he can beat this other character" but in Naruto I always liked that its not as simple and rather its more dependent on the situation, the goal of the characters and the preparation for the fight oppose to simply being " stronger"

Alec Raatz

Bro na with all that wtf lol

JoLen

It really sucks he died so early on. Would have been cool to see him as a Jonin / sensei later in the show

Enma

Kakashi got the sharingan, but he isn't an Uchiha, meaning he doesn't have the necessary bloodline to fully utilize the eye's abilities. This results in a higher chakra drain when using the Sharingan compared to a natural Uchiha, and limits his ability to access advanced techniques like the Mangekyo Sharingan without significant strain on his body. Which is why he is hospitalized everytime he uses it.

Frizen

Not even 2 minutes in and Cannon says something ridiculous. Why is Kakashi wearing the mask? My guy, he's a NINJA LMAO 🤣

Vallll

RIP Obito.

Marcus D

The reason people wanted you guys to start with Kakashi gaiden is because it was the first chapters of the manga after part 1(Naruto) had ended and then part 2(shippuden) began Immediately after it.

Marcus D

I guess it’s better the studio didn’t animate it straight away Becuase we got it with higher quality animation later.

Alec Raatz

All I wish for is that us as a community as well as the geks that know, to not put expectations on arcs or episodes. Should let the ones who haven’t seen it experience it naturally like we all got to

kuza

kakashi chronicles yessssssssssssss

holyfuckingobito

Please I'm not ready to cry 😭 haven't watched the video yet

Vallll

On top of that, he cannot turn the Sharingan off, which drains his chakra even more. Sakumo, Kakashi’s dad, never had any chakra issues. The moment the chakra blade broke was very symbolic, it shows how Kakashi has abandoned his dad’s way of fighting, and chose to elaborate his Sharingan skills to commemorate Obito.

Alex Ramirez

Fun fact: The 4-tail Jinchuriki is a Dragon Ball reference. The most iconic dragon ball is the four star dragon ball. So Kishimoto made his name and tailed beast Dragon Ball references. You would know what his name and tailed beast looks like by now if you were reading the manga because they would sometimes attach character profiles to chapters/volumes.

Xoul

👏👏👏 I feel like it's become almost an obsession to figure out who's the top boss of the game ppl don't even enjoy the ride anymore

holyfuckingobito

Bro that has nothing to do with DB. In japanese mythology, the king of monkeys is called Songoku

studiogek

The disrespect to rock Lee is insane

Karlsefni

Welcome back Shadow, it's been a while since I've seen you comment on a Naruto upload

jblakk

I hope brig or one of the geks see this but there are later flashback arcs about Kakashi before naruto is born but after Obito that really flesh his character out. Like his relationship with itachi, guy, and yamato really helps paint the decisions he ends up making and why he does the bell test. I hope yall dont skip it when it eventually happens because its considered filler but its not really.

Patriicia

I wanna say something but I cant. I almost choked

Shadow

Yessir all caught up again. Wish we got more Naruto

JAN NARUTO

"I believe the White Fang was a real hero." Damn, that line gave me goosebumps. That’s why I think Obito and Kakashi’s friendship was way deeper than Naruto and Sasuke’s at this point. Obito really knew how to hit a nerve, he was disappointed in Kakashi but still showed respect for his dad, even when touching such a sensitive topic. And all of that was shown in just two eps. It’s so heartbreaking to see Obito, once such a bright, energetic, and kind person, lying on the cold ground barely speaking dying under the rocks. Their generation was just built different

Marcus D

Clearly you guys have been watching two piece because every highlighted character eventually gets their shine and non arc bound characters continue to as the story goes on

Marcus D

Kishimoto and studio perriot cooked with this. I knew what happens and it still got me teary eyed.

Alex Ramirez

No way you're gonna spoil the name... SPOILER ALERT FOR THE GEKS: The Jinchuriki's (the ninja) name is ROSHI. Kishimoto picked the 4-tailed Jinchuriki as a Dragon Ball reference because the 4 star dragon ball is the most iconic dragon ball due to it belonging to Goku at the start of OG Dragon Ball. Gohan wears it on the top of his hat at the beginning of Z. Thats why he chose the 4-tails to be a monkey. Yes everyone knows that OG Dragon Ball was inspired by Journey to the West and gives Goku (Kakarot) the Japanese name for Sun Wukong. Not only that, you spoiled the name of the tailed beast which is a huge spoiler because it's revealed in a big moment of the story.

Zu

Pin this comment lmao

Patriicia

I must admit I liked Deidara when I 1st watched Naruto but now I agree with Cannons "bum" nickname

ether

PEAK

Vallll

That’s a Chinese mythology called Journey to the West. It’s quite well know in Japan as well, but it’s not Japanese.

BeautyWillSaveTheWorld

Obito reminded me of Naruto—he had that spirit, the will to protect his comrades, and a lack of natural talent. He was willing to do anything to protect the people dear to him, which made it even more heartbreaking to see him meet such a painful end because of his choices. He died saving Kakashi, someone he had always been jealous of and never fully understood until that moment. That alone shows how pure-hearted he was. "I'm the only one who didn't give you a gift for becoming a Jonin." That line always hits hard. This is the first time I truly cried while watching Naruto. Even though we only see him in flashbacks, I love his character more than most of the main cast. Like Carter said.

BeautyWillSaveTheWorld

He is just alright hahah I never hated him. But we should wait for the next drop 👀

Ordinary Guy

The debate whether who's stronger. Itachi or Akatsuki's Leader (whom we shall not say the name until revealed)

MermaidMan

Guys okay I calculated how far you would get in a 12 hour marathon and you’d end up at the end of a very good arc 😏

BeautyWillSaveTheWorld

I don't know if you guys noticed, but Obito's grave at the end was the same one Kakashi always visited. Also, I’m not sure if you remember, but in the original series, whenever Kakashi was late for Team 7 meetings, he always used the excuse that he was helping the elderly—that was a habit he picked up from Obito- to help old people when he can. And that famous line about abandoning your comrades; Kakashi used to teach Team 7 the same lesson about ethics.

kuza

can finally be excited for every single naruto drop

Bellaa

stop spoiling pls

Bellaa

😧

Karlsefni

this time it wasn’t intentional - the person wrote a spoiler warning which is fine - unfortunately it’s just the case that when your scrolling on a laptop/computer the spoiler below is visible without manually having to click the “show more button”

andy

goated

holyfuckingobito

U can literally google it, just because its in DB doesn't mean its a reference.

Karlsefni

@Zu, thanks for deleting your other spoiler comment - didn’t mean to be dramatic with the all caps- just thought a comment written in all caps would get your attention quicker if you were to get a notification 🙏

e riv

These little details are the reason I love Obito ❤️. He was the best for just a couple of minutes 🥹.

Zu

I got rid of it as soon as I saw the comment about the gap

Karlsefni

12 hour binge would be great but if they were only to do one more binge for the entirety of Naruto - think it would suit better for the last arc as it can get dragged out at times - next few months of episodes will be well paced so it’s not neccesary right now

Chrisiyyi

Different bioms is possible, new zealand where they filmed lord of the rings is like that, one moment can be at at the sea then a glacier and a swamp or a open plain, its actually crazy to experience

Billie

never noticed some of this :(((((

Karlsefni

It would also suck if the geks were worn out/tired during the later hours of the binge & that effected there viewing experience/reaction - maybe a 6 hour binge at most would be best

cade-carter

they really should have started with this :l

BeautyWillSaveTheWorld

Ngl, Carter’s theory would be hilarious—Obito somehow surviving without getting crushed and then joining an evil organization where he’s constantly cracking jokes in a goofy voice. 😂😂When you put it like that it sounds funnier than it is. I liked the Danzo theory more, even though it has baseless assumptions. In the next drop, we’ll finally learn something 👀

Fatipapi (Byakuya’s Girl)

Agree, i think Danzo makes more sense because we KNOW he definitely is fishy and was trying to destroy the Leaf. Plus, i think it would be very stupid for a writer to make the names so similar if its supposed to be some plottwist 😅 we don’t even know how many one eyed ppl there still are in the naruto universe 👀👀

cade-carter

Deidara is my favorite Akatsuki, and this is one of the coolest fights in the series

Anata

Episodes 125 to 175 is close guys

Richie Sour

This is how the shippuden manga starts, so it’s technically first in the story, hence why we wanted it to start first

Richie Sour

120 is such an amazing episode, we’re in peak now

Yo Dani

There it is! I kept refreshing the page last night after work, but because im from Europe, it was only afternoon for you (depending on which coast you guys are from). So i didnt realize that i actually have to wait until saturday lol. But its cool, today i get to watch Naruto, Sakamoto and Solo. Thank you guys o7 Lord Brig xD

nima lama

I love you guys but Jack why tf u talk too much, and Brig just tell them the whole story. No need to watch the show.

Ninjinzo

it's a dragon ball reference u munch kishimoto literally worked under him

jrnoodles

Thanks Geks! Sasuke vs Deidara/Tobi up next. I can't wait!

Kesendo

Nah, I think it's better to stick with four episodes per week, with maybe one or two extra whenever they feel like it. Watching 12 hours of anime straight would be too much for anyone, and they'd just end up being burned out & zoning out during peak moments, like they did during their 12 hour marathon for og naruto.

Liam

Shut up brah

BeautyWillSaveTheWorld

Yes, definitely not 12 hours. Max 4-5 if they feel like it because there will be peak back to back

Liam

Itachi wins low dif

ScreenWise

I dont believe this is spoiler, but the reason rock lee isnt very prominent in shippuden is bc the author/mangaka originally planned for him to die in OG naruto. So he didn’t really have a role/place in shippuden. However, he was such a fan favorite after OG that kishimoto kept him alive and tried to fit him in in places in shippuden. Theres a filler arc in shippuden with some amazing rock lee scenes.

BeautyWillSaveTheWorld

Sadly yes, I didn't know If I should say that. Same goes for Neji. The original plan for both of them was to die in Sasuke retrieval arc

ScreenWise

Writer planned for him and neji to die in sasuke retrieval arc. They were huge fan favorites so he tried to write them into shippuden where he could. Kinda hard to fit two characters in to a plot that already has so many moving pieces when you werent planning anything for them bc they were supposed to be dead.

Secretly

I think Brig is a little excited cause he keeps saying things 5 seconds before they say it in the show lol.

Secretly

Should probably delete this no ?

Secretly

In Deidara’s defense, in the manga he really didn’t have much clay left when fighting Naruto and Kakashi, and only had enough for 1-2 more creations. In the anime he said that and spammed like 20 attacks. He was super gassed after fighting Garaa and sealing him.

Xoul

Poor Jack he gets so excited he forgets to pay attention cause he's analyzing everything out loud 🤣 it's crazy how i use to think he was the most quiet but apparently it was because he had no mic by him 💀

Secretly

To be fair, I guess he tried to include one squad every mission. So Guy squad for Garaa retrieval, Asuma squad for Hidan and Kakazu, and now Kuranai squad for this mission.

Xoul

😭😭😭😭😭💔❤️‍🔥💔🖤

Xoul

Omg please Jack PLEASE 🙏 listen to Karlsefni 😅🫠Naruto details are 🤯

Secretly

To answer Carter, they are in the Land of fire right now, which is where the hidden leaf i located. Think if the leaf as a city and the land of fire as a country. Sasuke was outside of it in the rocky area at the beginning of the ep, but then went to the uchiha hideout which was in a town in the Land of fire.

studiogek

That makes even less sense to me. I don't understand why that means he couldn't be written into shippuden. He was such a fan favorite that we are gonna keep him alive but not do anything with him and he will just disappear. I don't feel like it would be that hard to find good ways to include him. Shouldve just given him a good death scene in OG if thats the case

testing 44u328

Sasuke is like the Erwin of Naruto for Cannon

ScreenWise

I agree, should have just given him a good death and called it a day. The only reason i feel like he isnt more of a focal point is bc the plot gets thicker as shippuden goes on and the pieces moving at that point dont really have anything to do with rock lee or his character. So the eps around his development would just have felt like filler. Drawing away from the main story. And the writer does give him a whole arc of filler later in shippuden so it seems he did try to give him some screen time. Timelines between manga release and anime airing also prob played a part. Cuz the issue with pacing is common throughout the show. Theres also the fact the show was supposed to end after a certain arc and then Jump made him write more because of the success of the show so the entire finale of naruto was supposed to be like 200 eps earlier than it actually was. Overall i think there was a lot of back and forth between the story kishimoto wanted to write and the story that Jump thought would bring the most money bc of its massive success.

Storm

Respect Deidara???

Yugi

Shippuuden saturday is here europe gang

Patriicia

I respect him, he is a good character but rn I find him a little bit annoying 🤣 I dont know why, I liked him more when I watched it for the first time

Patriicia

Jack just memorize what you want to say in your head and say it later when there are no dialogues 🤣🤣🤣

Patriicia

It gave me chills when Obito said he wanted to give his eye to Kakashi 😭😭 they finally became closer and it ended like this. So sad, this show really hits you when you dont expect it

Lydia

I LOVE obito’s drip 😭😭😭 it’s unique and it reminds me of Naruto’s in OG. Kakashi gaiden is just as good as I remembered it. Mannn the wait for episodes each week is going to be unbearable now. Yall have no idea what’s coming!

Lydia

yess that part is so heartbreaking "ill become your eye and see the future for you"??? like come onnnn

BeautyWillSaveTheWorld

Yes!! It's quite silly in a way - it's not cool like Kakashi's fit but it fits his personality. It's perfect for him

SIIver

Kakashi lore got me crying every time😭😭

lian

i wonder if brig or mckay watched it with or without filler the first time? then they might not have watched those episodes or other “filler” backstories

Lydia

Yes not cool but so cute 🥹🥹

Mahti

They all do this not just Jack. Like they have to hold eye contact in order to talk to each other which I never understood why, must be a cultural thing

Dakota

lmao we knew that only 4 episodes a week would take a while, but its so brutal when you know whats coming

Karlsefni

Obito in 2/720 episodes > Tenten, Choji, ino, Shino, Kiba, konahamuru, sakura

Storm

Why would anyone want them to rush the best parts of Naruto lmao. The wait sucks but The 4 episode format is the best way to experience especially this part of the story

Cannon Andrus

? I don’t see the comparison at all

Niffol

"Carter mark her with the death." I want this to be a thing now.

Niffol

I made the same prediction as Carter when I met Obito as well. However, I got cooked by all my friends for it too, your friends are more nice.

bondbond53

Brig either doesn't clarify stuff that's been already revealed in fear of not spoiling or spoils details 5 minutes before they're revealed in the story. Never change Brig haha, but I get it Naruto is such an extensive story that one sometimes gets lost in what's been revealed or not

Bellaa

yeah that comment makes me confused. did u have issues with erwin?🤔😅

Bellaa

woah woah leave sakura out😞🙈. especially if u have seen the whole show

Lydia

finally seeing the Yellow Flash of the Leaf 🥶🥶

Rohan

next week gonna go crazyyy

Ordinary Guy

Bro, tbh I am not sure. But all I can say confidently and religiously is that the Leader is my number one fav character. He's my goat.

Kaibur

we are steadily approaching peak we gotta get another binge for this surely

Kaibur

tobi slander will not be permitted bro is funny as hell

Gyt

Kabuto spitting

Osvaldo

I love Tobi.

Audreyldo

Obito is my goat

GooberM

whats with calling deidara a bum lol, are they forgetting he beat Garra? even if it was because Garra had to protect the village, deidara is pretty damn strong man

Cookie

thank you

JaJa

Remember Naruto's clone will transfer all the damage and fatigue they endure to him. So if his clones chakra network gets severed it gets transferred to him afterwards.....so hes still screwed

Sun

it doesn't matter what scene it is, playing certain naruto soundtracks (30:55) will have me sobbing non-stop every single time

Kesendo

And did they forget that Deidara was able to defend himself against Team Guy in close combat, with no arms and while being exhausted lol

Ordinary Guy

Is it not ShippuDay yet? 😂😂😂

Ordinary Guy

Yeah, I know. I just can't wait til it's Shippuday for the next arc 😂

JAN NARUTO

same, cant wait to see the next hundreds of eps, ngl their reaction is addictive

jessiefungirl

i love tobi and i still think you haven't watched shippuden if you haven't clowned tobi AT LEAST once

Lydia

Im legit counting down the days yall lol anyone else??

Vixen

🙋‍♂️ and the waits only gonna hurt more as we progress 😫

BeautyWillSaveTheWorld

🙋Same, I should just uninstall patreon app so that it won't be too unbearable. We are in the peak teritory 👀

TrueCrisp

We got like 4 months of solid oozing peak

Xoul

I think they forget a lot 🥲 but maybe they refer more to his bummy attitude, hopefully that's what they mean

Xoul

Quick question...remind me again why McKay hates Kabuto so much? Actually 1 more, does Jack talk this much in other shows too or is Naruto that special he can't hold back? I enjoy Jack's curiosity and gives me hope Naruto can become his fave🤞

Xoul

🤭🤫

Lydia

The wait after 130 and 134 is actually going to kill me lmaooo

Lydia

💀💀💀💀💀

Ordinary Guy

Bruh, for me the wait for the something push is agonizing

Lydia

the wait shall be worth it

Yoshi

I was thinking jack was talking a lot too in this one… I love hearing more from him tbh

Bambina

I occasionally open the app to see if a miracle happened and somehow we got early upload

Bambina

He’s just annoying

Lydia

😂😂😂

Marcus D

You can still be a bum and strong. Deidara has the most immature and shallow motivations for such heinous acts/intentions lol.

Hector

Trusttt me we get get of jack every show 😭😭

Vixen

@bambina me like 5x a day 💀

Bambina

3 days left 🔥🔥🔥

Billie

literally came here to say that 😭🥰

Xoul

Shalllowww? Art is his passion and makes him feel he will become immortal through it. Shallow to me would be oh it's so pretty but I still want to kill because everyone else is ugly or something like that. There's artists in real life that feel passionate about their craft and use it to help the world become better. His twist is just darker to the same sentiment IMO

JayCnY

so true.

JayCnY

thanks for the spoiler mckay :(

McKay Carter

Idk something about that guy just pisses me off

BeautyWillSaveTheWorld

Please let it be an early drop so we can watch it on Friday and not Saturday 🙏

JAN NARUTO

Back then, waiting for the next Naruto episode/chapter was a special kind of suffering. Now, waiting for the reaction videos feels just the same

Bro you did it twice in this video alone. You need to chill.

G

How do u know that

Secretly

probably just based off comments and upload time. I think the upload times are due to filming schedules, but I do agree they do let a lot of things they complain about on Naruto slide on one peace.

Meruyert Abdikulova

Cause they always upload one peace reactions on time… but for naruto…

At this point I have to accept the Shippuden Saturdays. See you guys in the morning ;)

Little maps like OP does sometimes would be nice for sure. Hard to gauge how long someone has travelled and how much time has past, how far people are from each other etc. But Id say its not meant to be important I guess?🤷‍♂️

Kakashi backstory peak

Matt S

Hey guys, any chance you can unlock the episodes after this one for Legacy Tier? Thanks!

Scarecrow

I’m so late catching up on these but just wanted to throw out, mentions about how Kakashi didn’t compare to Orochimaru but Sasuke was able to easily take him out. You guys might be forgetting that Orochimaru still didn’t have the ability to use all of his jutsu. He couldn’t use any jutsu that required hand signs. The 3rd took his arms which are gone gone. Not even when he transfers bodies does he get those back. So Orochimaru was at like maybe 10% when Sasuke killed him and he was also at his limit with his current body and basically on deaths door already. A shell of what he was at his peak. Also, Kakashi mentioned several times that during the time skip he also had been training. Shippuden Kakashi is stronger than OG Kakashi. He trained and got stronger so that he would be able to protect Naruto from the Akatsuki. Once Kakshi was strong enough to take on the Akatsuki Jiraiya entrusted Naruto back to his care per their agreement.

Jack deciding to talk during Obito's most epic moment pissed me off so much 😆 19:49

Seriously ruined the vibe, read the intensity, let the scene breathe🫤
