I wonder if they’re gonna skip the G8 arc after they finish skypia. I know a lot of people want them to because it will take up time they could use watching the next arc but a lot of reaction channels still watch it. And the G8 arc holds some of the most funny iconic luffy moments. And even though it’s filler the arc still holds up well in the one piece community. If they skip it I don’t mind either but I’m curious to see what they will do.

cozo

Brig cooked with zap zap fruit fr

Nasty

86 nowhere to be seen :(

Fatipapi (Byakuya’s Girl)

I hope they watch it. Its such a good conclusion and it’s not even that long. I fully get that people want W7 asap, but g8 is really good. It doesn’t even feel like a filler. I didn’t think it was when i was firsttime watching 😂

Conk

They said you gotta wait another year for the next batch 🤣🫵

Grady

They definitely shouldn’t skip it. It’s actually good

Marcus D

Carter is cooking once again. And Jack with the leg pat 🤣🤣🤣

wanira 11

The early drops as someone form Europe are really appreciated guys :D

Marcus D

Just a correction. Enel’s fruit is the goro goro fruit. Goro is a Japanese onomatopoeia for rumble, the sound lightning makes. So a better translation is the rumble-rumble fruit, not thunder. A lot of devil fruit names are actually onomatopoeias, like smoker’s or ace’s fruits.

Love The Early Drops

Amare D.

I think they don't like watching filler I seen though the reaction they don't want to watch anything that is pointless to the story

julia

Good reaction as always! I can’t wait for the Luffy vs Enel🔥

Kurofi

Logia - These are the rarest and most powerful fruits, granting the user the ability to transform their body into a natural element, such as fire, water, or lightning, and control it with near-endless amounts Zoan - These fruits grant the user the ability to transform into a specific animal species, either partially or fully, and can also grant the user enhanced physical strength and durability. Paramecia - These fruits grant a vast array of generally "superhuman" abilities, often involving modifications to the user's body or the creation of unusual substances or phenomena

wanira 11

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I love luffy getting caught in the snake, I think it's hilarious 😂 that snake is having the worst time of it's life when Luffy is just trying to find the exit

Kurofi

Enels fruit is actually called the Rumble fruit in English!

Dasha

that eye-rolling was personal

Toska Water

Usopp has always been the crew's sniper in my mind. He has generally good aim with both slingshots and cannons.

Chrisiyyi

and handyman, he tries his best with fixing stuff on the ship

Migge

The thing about Usopp is that he's the closest to a normal person in the crew and the most comparable member to the manga reader/anime watcher following One Piece. He's weak and cowardly with no physical training of any kind but he always manages to survive due to his wits (or pure luck/plot armor) and that makes him relatable (and likeable for some). Just a dude that wants to be something that he isn't in a world full of crazy shit. Even Nami grew up surrounded by monstrous fishmen.

Neon

i hope we get more eps

Marcus D

Man, with the impressions these guys have of the show, I can’t wait until they get more into the meat of the show, one piece’s strongest points imo.

Marcus D

Get on that milky road asap

saDbo

zoro's antics with the south bird crack me up every time 😂😂 the funniest part of this arc fr

Marcos

We have now been told zoan, paramecia and logia devil fruits. Idk if we should explain to the geks or if the show explains more in depth later

Jack

It does, I just wanted to clarify to them what they were

Ari

sameee

Niffol

"one piece not turning into a battle anime" is a crazy bad take. and wrong. not just hot take,. its literally a battle shonen anime! Much to my chagrin One Piece has influenced a lot of modern shonen fight trash.

Amare D.

what do y'all mean by battle shounen

Amare D.

is it just fights and no story after

Mahti

hope they skip it

Mahti

Even though it's classified as a battle shonen One Piece has so much more to offer outside of battles and the battles are often the worst part of the show. I get where he's coming from and half agree with Carter on this one

Niffol

Zoro and Chopper is up there with robin and chopper for best crew duo. They are Choppers adoptive parents it feels like.

studiogek

Gonna be 2 years now cuz of conk

Nasty

Heresy

Niffol

I believe the wings are real, but vestigial. like a human's tail bone. they dont use them, but still grow them. /shrug

Marcus D

Wouldn’t be one piece without these moments

Murasaki

The leg pat lol Jack is my favorite Gek 🏴‍☠️🫶🏻

Murasaki

For me, the definition of battle shonen anime would be those that most contents are just battles without much of the story, or animes that most hypes come from battles even tho it has some context and story. One Piece is not iykyk tho fight is still a big component of it.

Benjamin Knock

One piece will become a battle shonen anime, but as youve seen the fights arent really the showcase of the show, theyre there to push the story forwards, oda writes more for the downtime and thats always why it seems more enjoyable, the battles may be the focus of the show but its not the heart and soul of the story

Murasaki

And hot take that the main reason that I didn't really love this arc is bcs there are too many battles in the middle part like these two episodes lol.

Goatchis

Would love some 86

Marcus D

It’s not a bad take, it’s the right take. One piece is about adventure and chasing your dreams. Sometimes people get in the way of that and that’s why fights happen. Unlike in other shows like jjk and Naruto where the whole premise is to fight and kill things.

wanira 11

In one piece it's not necessarily about fighting, but about why they are fighting

Nami Swannn

It is a battle shounen but in this context when they say « battle shounen » they mean a specific type of series which it won’t ever really become. Similar to when ppl say shounen, that also encapsulates most sports series (like Haikyuu), but when most ppl say shounen they’re normally talking about fighting series.

Murasaki

Would AOT be categorized as a battle shonen? For me it’s not but some ppl would think it is. It’s the same case for One Piece. But for One Piece for sure there are more fighting contents and hypes around it.

James

El Psy Kongroo

Zipzzty

Facts Bro they’ve seen nothing Yet

Fatipapi (Byakuya’s Girl)

Sometimes it’s very frustrating tho like 🌊🏠🧍🏻‍♂️🏠🌊⛲️ if you know what i mean 😂

Koinzell

Chopper is 15 yrs old and a doctor.

jrnoodles

Thanks Geks! Zoro got saved by a south bird. Otherwise he would've been irrelevant this arc. lol

1999

I love how fast Zoro runs to Chopper 😭

Marcus D

@fatipapi, I still laugh at those moments though. To me it’s still peak comedy 😂

Jude

"are all three gonna protect them" it seems like brig has mantra too lol

Nashi

It's not endearing though, it's just annoying

Sandi uchiha

Fr. Like let me see you accomplish that at 15. Our boy is a genius.

Sandi uchiha

You did a good job of getting them to understand in a way that didn’t spoil it. Good job, Jack

Sandi uchiha

Luffy don’t give a frick. He just be doing him. The plot doesn’t happen to luffy. Luffy happens to the plot

Sandi uchiha

I’ll be happy w whatever they choose to do. Honestly, they should tho. One day they’ll catch up and wish they didn’t.

julia

Jack is right! Luffy fruit is basically pretty useless if you can’t throw a punch. Swords cut rubber that’s why some power scalers put luffy and zoro on the same level.

Marcus D

Yes sir, although even until now one piece has already had lots of peak writing.

Rhettoric

Good stuff! Loved the Devil Fruit conversation at the end and I'm getting so excited for the end of this arc

sil 🧸ྀི

hearing overtaken come up in a scene will always ALWAYS be so epic

SavDog23

The Geks should binge G8 arc in one go if they are going to watch it. It's only 8 episodes.

Matt Haloostock

Canon's look when Laki (Raki?) left Aisa's bag with Kamakiri lol

CoLdBITeR

Btw to Carter, involving wanting to watch one piece like how everyone else watched it instead of one pace, here is a way to look at it. Let's say you were at an amusement park like Disney land. Now one piece is like going on the best rides but you only have the standard, so then you gotta wait hours in line, while one pace is more like having the fast pass! So both give you the same experience on the "ride" but you get to enjoy it faster, instead of having to wait forever to try it. Because let's be honest, it's a lot more enjoyable for both things, when you get to experience them a bit faster, compared to being bummed out by the wait time.

kuza

G8's fun but in all honesty i kinda hope they skip it just so we can get into the real peak as quick as possible 😭

Marcus D

That or in 2 drops of 4, that’s the only way I’d be okay with it being apart of our scheduled uploads.

Marcus D

@Lebron, a lot of people had zoro and luffy on the same power level for a long time, twice. Would explain further but would be decent spoilers. Fyi, this point of time in the story is within one of those time periods.

Marcus D

One piece is my number 1 but the fighting is its weakest aspect to me. When recommending someone one piece, I wouldn’t use the fighting as a selling point. Fighting is not the focal point.

LeBron Glazer (Bronsexual)

Considering how big (and toxic) One Piece’s power scaling community is, you can definitely consider it a battle shonen or at least a mix of it

Marcus D

I’m going to out right say it, that section of the community is mostly delusional, toxic and doesn’t represent the reasons why most people experience/enjoy one piece. That community isn’t as big as you think, just the loudest online. One piece is one of the worst series to power scale with and I don’t know why they do it so much and take it so seriously. One piece isn’t about fighting. Dragon ball, Naruto, JJK and bleach are more similar to each other than they are to one piece and power-scaling is much more suitable for those series. What I’m trying to say it that the majority of fan powerscaling for one piece just feels forced and doesn’t represent the majority of the overall one piece enjoyers.

LeBron Glazer (Bronsexual)

Yeah…the powerscaling in this series is pretty inconsistent so I’m not sure why they’re so invested in it but I won’t lie the agenda/slander memes they cook up are funny af

Marcus D

Wet his blades? Idk😂

Marcus D

Hey Mckay what were you going to say @1:15? I would like to know 🙏

LilyLiv

yes this! and even why certain characters are *not* fighting/less willing to fight because it's about the philosophies behind the actions of each character

Luffy best MC

I know Im sooo late, but does anyone know if there is a way to watch one piece 150-151? It must have been deleted. I went away for a month and started catching up again on their reactions. If someone could let me know, or if they maybe downloaded it before it was deleted? Pls help

KrispyKenny

How far ahead are you guys in filming from the patreon uploads

Jude

I'm guessing maybe because of the Luffy vs Zoro fight in Whisky Peak people thought they were even? However as a personal Zoro glazer I always thought he was behind Luffy. Not to say Zoro's attacks wouldn't work though.

Jude

Btw the reason Luffy isn't a logia is because even though his body takes on the properties of rubber his body doesn't actually turn into pure rubber and can't produce rubber the same way smoker can make nearly unlimited smoke and turn his body into smoke. Also, another fruit that often gets mistaken as a logia is Mr. 3's Wax-Wax fruit. He can create his element but his body doesn't turn into wax. If he could produce wax and turn his body into wax his would probably be classified as a logia DF.

Amare D.

after this arc and after the short one y'all can go back and watch the orginal

Pace

Don’t worry about power scaling untill your further ahead in episode 400+ onwards, early one piece is way too hard to understand what is going on in terms of power scaling cause not much has been revealed yet.

Pace

Carter is gonna be begging for One Pace later on in the series I’m using my mantra for this 😂

Migge

He's annoying a lot of time and he's my least favorite straw hat, but he's got his role. The normality that I brought up is a thing that none of the Geks have really brought up so far, so I felt it would be cool for them to get this point of view. He's got his highs and lows, but he's always an important part of the straw hat crew. One Piece is not really a battle anime where everyone does cool shit all the time, for me the battles are the weakest part (not all of the fights ofc). Give Usopp and the story and the world building time, you'll get to love all of it in the end!

Rhettoric

Marcus is always killing it in the replies here, I respect it💯

Nicholas R. Gonzales

Hey gek can we get an update on when episodes 150-151 will be reuploaded? They are missing from Patreon

wanira 11

Bro just wait, it's still coming. One pace cuts nothing from the manga. It's just edited differently from the anime

Aokiji Piece🧊

Shaun, everything is alright. One Pace hasn’t finished the last episode of Skypeia yet, that’s why all of the things you mentioned aren’t in yet. If One Pace hasn’t finished the last episode before the Geks get there, then they’ll just watch the last two episodes in the original, and that’s it. So no need to worry.

xSaorix

I'm liking one pace more and more lol. As long as it faithfully adapts everything from the manga, it is pure and original, maybe even more so than the normal version. If you want to take about "purity", the manga is the original form. I honestly don't see the problem in just continuing with one pace...and I say this as someone who had no idea it even existed

xSaorix

Battle shounen is a type of shounen that involves fighting as the focus. Yes one piece has its focus on the story of the characters, the adventure, and why they fight; but at the core Luffy must become the pirate king by...fighting. One piece IS a battle anime, but it's not the most battle oriented. It's story and emotion oriented.

JojoJack

Blackbeard already mentioned ‘Haki’ in episode 151. You guys just didn’t locked in and listened.

Janina

I agree with you. I’ve watched the original twice, and I only learned about one pace last February when I was rewatching OP for the third time. I wish I had known about One Pace earlier. don’t understand why people are so against it.

xSaorix

Yeah I know Carter has mentioned being a purist, and honestly I am too. But I don’t see how one pace isn’t pure since it follows the manga to the T

Marcus D

It’s not a lie, listen closer. The translator just didn’t know the significance of the word for one piece

Goatcheezey

W Explanation for sure on the fruits with what the rest have seen so far.. Good Job Jack 👏

Guy

no in the version they watched on crunchyroll it translated the word Haki into something else so they never saw it

Amare D.

yea uh one pace hasn't done those episodes that's why

Riley

I picked One Piece back up after seeing you guys start it, and I have to say, I'm glad I did because it is very entertaining. When I compare it to Naruto, I think One Piece's floor and ceiling are both lower than Naruto, but I have been enjoying the show and am excited to keep going, especially after what I'm just seeing. I'm on episode 290 and the show has been cooking! Luffy is definitely a top three main character.

Grady

Watch one pace for it

Zess

Just wait lol can't really say you've seen the ceiling being that little in. You're in a great arc though! One of my favorites pre timskip.

Riley

Yes, I obviously have a lot more to see. From what I’ve seen so far, I do think Naruto has higher highs than One Piece, and even its lows are higher than One Piece’s lows. However, I’ve watched Naruto many times and am only about a quarter of the way through One Piece, so of course, I’m biased. I do think I prefer Luffy over Naruto though.

Murasaki

Just out of curious lol, if I remember correctly are you the one mentioned you dropped OP in like 75 episodes under the first OP reaction upload?

Riley

That's me haha! I didn't like Mr. 3 and got sick of watching the show, but to be fair, I wasn't watching much of anything at the time and was not enjoying watching anime. I'm glad I picked it back up!

Jude

I've watched and read both Naruto and One Piece in their entirety and gotta say you have a lot to look forward to with one piece. also love the profile pic of HIMmel

Roks

because you miss anime canon moments that are pure but one pace cuts it out, only wish that they will add that then one pace would be 10/10 for me but it's been great so far and I'm enjoying it as someone who only wants to watch the original version ill give one pace an 8/10 as of now

xSaorix

As someone who only reads the manga, any moment that’s not in the manga, I don’t really care for that much. The anime adds moments in order to elongate the episodes so they don’t catch up with the manga. It’s not something bad, it’s just something you have to do or you’ll run out of material. And for its worth, I think the anime does it well for One Piece. But all these “anime only canon moments” are added just to elongate and slow the pace down. I don’t really care for them.

Kayanolive

Not something they should know i think

Kayanolive

I have been shouting from the rooftops lmaoo, this is the way to experience this story😭

PattieLo

Love that Luffy’s song keeps receiving so much love from you guys

desolate leng

Wyper is definitely a loose cannon, lol. Truest words. You're right, I think that when it comes to death and injury, it’s probably best just to not expect anything to be that grim. Also, always assume that everyone, not just the main characters, are going to be ridiculously resilient, lol. Yeah, all the Strawhats have different roles! Nami, Chopper, and Usopp aren’t the best fighters, and part of it is that they don’t really enjoy fighting, unlike the others in the crew. Chopper is mainly the doctor, and Nami the navigator, and they’re happy that way. Usopp is still finding his place, I’d say.
