There really aren't that many "filler episodes" in My Hero. The ones that are, are like 95-100% filler and are pretty easy to skip. If they can sit through the slow parts of Naruto, they'll be alright with like 1 or 2 slow episodes per season lmao.

2:10:15 No, Midoriya did not control One For All when he punched Nomu. Remember, Nomu has shock absorption and his body absorbed Midoriya's punch. If you break your hand from punching something, it's because your hand absorbed a lot of shock from the impact. Midoriya just got lucky that he punched someone who would stop him from breaking his own arm.

I hate spamming comments (cat emoji). But you you guys made a point about Tsu being capable and her power being interesting. But consider this, one of the most popular and extremely powerful superheroes is spider man. When you think about it it's just gaining the powers of a spider right? In reality Tsu has an extremely versatile quirk that is basically a whole bunch of powers in one. Being able to jump, the tongue thing, and what are the limitations? Even in the frog world there are many different types with different abilities.

Imagine that.. the show isn't "mostly mid with peak moments" if you actually appreciate the characters + storylines. A lot more enjoyable when you actually care about the world. I think the Geks overall interest and their enjoyment during the down moments will age well for the exaggerated 'bad' seasons later on. I love how much hate this show gets because of the fan base. It lets part of the community that actually knows its a good story enjoy it and share it with others. All Might really is the GOAT like bro always has me cheesing when he is on screen and Deku really becomes the GOAT too later down the line.

My thoughts on the seasons without spoiling. Season 1 is a NICE introduction to the show for me. Season 2 is when the story starts to pick up, while Season 3 is really damn good. Has quite a few impactful moments. Season 4 is solid, one of the arcs in this season is really good and one of the fights is insane but unfortunately underrated. As for season 5, things do slow down in the first half but it does have very important elements in the storyline shown in this point. The later half of the season starts to pick things up again and got some very interesting/juicy content. Season 6 is a roller coaster, has some of the strongest writing in the whole series. It starts off strong and continues to stay strong the whole season, some of the best action sequences are in this season. Lastly season 7 is on the same level as season 6, can’t decide which one is better but these two are definitely the top 2 seasons in the anime so far

I genuinely forgot for a moment how menacing Katsuki looked in the first few episodes of the first season LMFAO He's a downright jerk and it's totally the right response to dislike him. Heck, I didn't like him at all when he was behaving this way. But I'm kind of pleasantly surprised by your theories about why he acts the way he does with Izuku ngl. Carter saying there has to be a reason why Katsuki is so angry and crashing out all the time really doesn't happen that often with other reactors. I've seen maybe two others so far that I've watched that speculate about it, and it's pretty refreshing to see your takes on him as a character haha! Also I'm so sorry for bringing this up but Carter's spit acidentally dripping from his mouth when he says "explode" at 17:48 had me wheezing and choking I thought I was seeing things so I had to rewind it but lo and behold I wasn't WHBQJHBWb This reminds me so much of myself when I watch anime. "I...like Bakugo. Despite his glaring issues. He needs to go to therapy." - If that ain't the most Katsuki fan behaviour I don't know what is. Katsuki is very, very, VERY prideful, as we've seen. There's no denying that he's an asshole to Izuku and just a jerk overall at this point in the story. But he's shown that he's more than just angry all the time. He can acknowledge when he's lost, he understands when someone points out he's done something wrong during training. And he's not afraid to say that he thought he might lose to another gifted student he's only just met in school. He's not dumb, far from it, actually. He's very intelligent. It's one of the things he prides himself on. But his anger issues ARE getting in the way of his development, so episode 8 really is where he starts to become more than just Izuku's bully...although his asshole tendencies probably won't change just like that lol. You guys have so much faith in Katsuki's character having development (it makes me so happy hahaha!)

Knowing the future development and this being a rewatch, Bakugo is actually so fun to follow now LMAO 😹 Also Aizawa, absolutely goated teacher. One of my favorite characters. Imo all in all, MHA is enjoyable but later on the writing feels stagnant and dragged out. The first 4 seasons are really great, especially the first 2, in terms of pacing. The last few eps of season 4 is still my fav stretch in the entire series. The later seasons are honestly a drag to get through.

Btw I just realised since you guys binged season 1 and might speed through season 2 as well, here's the watch list order for MHA(including the movies, which are more or less semi-canon as they're referenced in the source material as well): Season 1 -> Season 2 Movie 1: Two Heroes Season 3 -> Season 4 -> Season 5 (Ep 1 to 16) Movie 3: World Heroes' Mission Season 5 (Ep 17 to 25) Movie 2: Heroes Rising Season 6 -> Season 7 -> Season 8 (coming soon) I know this looks super weird, but someone on reddit explained that it's because Studio Bones messed up the order of the arcs in the second half of season 5 due to Covid restrictions (or whatever reason). So canonically, movie 3 actually happens sometime in the middle of season 5, while movie 2 actually happens after season 5's ending, even though the studio released the two movies in the opposite order. Alternatively, y'all can watch movie 2 after season 5 ep 12, and movie 3 after season 5 ends (this is what most reactors do if I'm not wrong, cause there are spoilers in movie 2 that aren't revealed until the middle of season 5). Season 1 episode 12 is for a lack of a better word: CHILLS. Just straight chills from the moment You Say Run started playing. MHA has so many epic moments mixed with emotional lines. It's so satisfying to see y'all love All Might so much. Cannon's All Might glazing is so on point lmao I also feel tears in my eyes whenever they show us an All Might fight scene with that insane animation and pencil sketch artwork. Season 1 is great, but it gets better honestly. I'm so excited for the next upload. And no, I don't think anyone's favourite character is Mineta (the tiny one with balls on his head). The only person who likes him is probably Horikoshi, the creator himself, unfortunately. It's widely held that Mineta is an entirely inappropriate and unnecessary character, especially when the things he says are completely out of pocket or downright gross sometimes. I'd honestly ask y'all to ignore the weirdness. He was saying he was surprised Deku was so accurate with the time frame, but he said that the actual battle All Might was in where he got injured was not reported to the public so there's no way Deku could've known the actual person who injured him. Bakugo's temperament is definitely off putting and understandably feels unwarranted a lot of the times, but being an explosive hot head with explosive power just makes sense. Knowing how he is now makes imagining a character that's calm, cool, and collected having his quirk not sit right with me. This thought made me also just now realize the character's personalities seem to more or less correlate with their powers. Not sure if this an accurate take but will be my personal headcanon. From a more practical standpoint rather than a character design perspective, being glazed up your whole life and not being humbled during crucial developmental stages as a child can lead to unchecked ego and narcissistic qualities. Not that I would know if that's true. I'm no psychologist, but that just seems logical.

If you AT ALL enjoy season 1 of MHA.... you are going to love the show. Season 1 had its moments for me but overall I wasn't really "hooked" or in love with it yet. My superpower or "quirk" in life (I hate myself for that) is probably my ability to give things the benefit of the doubt. I do not instantly form opinions or view things too black and white like. Anyways - my point is just that if you whatsoever enjoyed season 1 then youre going to love this show. There are few shows out there that get just so consistently better with every new season. By Season 6 - 7 this show is truly peak as all the character arcs and plot points begin to climax and converge.

Listen its totally preference and I respect your opinion - but theres just no world that Dub is better than Sub. The original sub voice actors are apart of the characters from the start of show design. They put 100x more effort into the roles because they are paid more and working with the original creators of the show. 99% of Dub voice actors in anime send in their lines from different countries. They aren't traveling to Japan or working with the crew or co-cast members. Thats why so many English dubs sound just so emotionless, dry or even off putting when communicating with other characters. This is nothing against English VA's and believe me I know there are SOME who are great, but the reality is most DUB voice actors are just reading lines and sending mp3's in to collect checks. Now don't take my words and say im saying ALL dubs are like this - because I know they are not - but a large overwhelming majority are. New age animes are just now getting better Dubs because of how internationally popular animes have become even just in the past 5 years. And at the end of the day - some people jsut want to hear their own language and theres no changing their opinions, but please never - out of respect to the true artists who create and are apart of these shows truly in person - say that Dub actors are better. They are not. They are objectively NOT better voice actors (and arent really given the chance to be considering they usually arent PHYSICALLY there being directed and coached by the showrunners). I have no problem with people who PREFER dub, but saying its better is 99% a flat out lie or ignorance.

Disagree. The sub voice for Bakugo is amazing. Especially in that one part of season 4. Dude popped the fuck off. Same with All Might. I know Chris Sabat is the goat, but he just doesn't have quite the same rasp as Kenta Miyake. Miyake's version of "Plus Ultra" against Nomu is so impactful that they had to give Chris Sabat a bunch of reverb just to sound close to as badass. I will say, I have a few scenes that I think Bakugo's english VA is better. They're about tied in terms of that one episode from season 4, but there are a handful of instances where his english va is arguably better. But Deku's english voice is just bad. There is a REASON people make meme videos using his english voice. English va's are notoriously not good at young sounding voices, and Deku is a squeaker for real lmao. His english va is basically doing a forced falsetto perpetually, which sounds offputting and weird. Meanwhile his Japanese VA actually SOUNDS like Deku naturally. Like in interviews and shit its clear that its just how his voice is, and isn't a "voice" that he has to active do.

😺I also binge watched this before season 6 started. All I can say is that what most people call mid or fall off it's very forgetful if you binge it. S4 part 2 and S5 part 1 is what made most people drop the anime and I can see why these arcs can be rough on a weekly basis. Other than that, there are not so great episodes here and there but the peaks are peak. There are characters I don't like but I'm expecting this re-watch help me see things that I might have missed before. I knew you guys will enjoy this show. The highs of this show are really good, the composer cooked with almost every soundtrack, voice acting cast is goated as theyve already established. But there are some tedious stretches of episodes which can be pretty off-puting if you only watch 1 episode per week

🐈the thing about this show is that I feel like nothing ever happens (at least early seasons) Like the worst outcome in this whole league of villains arc was Midoriyas self inflicted wounds which are easy to heal and Aizawas possible eye damage lol.. As a former sub elitist, MHA dub might be the best of all time. Funny moments are funnier and epic moments are more emotional if you're an English speaker. I didn't get to enjoy it until I saw it through another reactor. It gets overshadowed by Dekus VA who tries really hard and comes out cringe often but everyone else's performance is elite. With that being said, the sub is just as good if not better because of their elite all star cast

Like I get preferring Christopher Sabat, he is also a goat, but calling those 2 ass is just insane. Nobuhiko Okamoto has insane range, playing romance characters, eccentric all the way to someone like Himmel who is the most calm person ever. He had to undergo throat surgery for voicing Bakugo. Miyake Kenta literally fainted in the studio when voicing that scene in s3. The dub has to constantly give reverb to get close to them. And these VAs are handpicked by Horikoshi, they are what the author envisions his characters sounding like.

Bakugo is a big fish in a small pond. His whole life he has been praised, for being the best, knowing how to read and then finally getting the "best" quirk. He developed a superiority complex. Then Deku, this guy who has never been good, who is supposed to be so much worse than him, starts getting good and beats him. When he gets into UA he is no longer the biggest fish, there are know bigger predators in the pond and that crashes his whole worldview down. A lot of people misunderstand his character, but he is insanely well written.

FMAB is easily the greatest dub ever, most of the anime community agrees. While my favorite perfomance is Johnny Yong Bosch as Lelouch, FMAB has top tier VAs from top to bottom, not a single bad performance in there. MHA while good, it can not be the greatest when the literal MC is the worst voice in the whole show. Daiki Yamashita on the other hand is insane, especially the screams.

I completely agree. Season 4 in particular, I will never understand the hate. The first part is insane with one of the best animated fight ever, the middle slows down but has great character moments, then it introduces 2 goated charaters along with the whole school thing which is a great resolution to some threads from the previous arc and then ends with my favourite fight in the whole show which somehow surpasses the animation of the fight in the first part. After season 7 which is just more consistent, season 4 is my second favourite easily.

I love the dub for this show. It’s actually pretty damn good. Chris’ All-Might, Patrick’s Endeavor, Clifford’s Bakugo, and Eric’s Shiguraki are all fantastic. Plus, you can never go wrong with a cast that has J. Michael Tatum. With that said, I personally would not switch. You’re too far in now that the voices become attached to the characters in the viewer’s mind. The dub may feel jarring for that reason and ruin the immersion.

Crazy how I never once looked at it that way, but it makes sense. Uraraka’s quirk is zero gravity and she's kind of ditzy and high-spirited/airy, Tsuyu's mannerisms and personality is literally like a frog (even directly says ribbit), Todoroki (icy hot) has a cool and calm demeanor, Kirishima is hardening/strength and aligns with his manly personality, Testutestu's quirk is similar which explains why they both have similar personalities, Jirou (headphones chick) has a punk/goth personality, Aoyoma has a flashy personality and a flashy quirk, etc etc etc. The list goes on and on, and even though this hasn't been confirmed, I can see this definitely being canon!

Nah I'ma keep it a buck. Deku's voice never really "gets better". There are moments in season 4 where the Japanese VA is COOKING and the English va is just completely flat. Hard to specify without spoilers but the gap is real. The other voices are solid, and just about make up for it. But god its excruciating to hear the dub Deku speak. If he were a side character it would be one thing, but being the main character just makes it a pain. They should definitely stick with sub.

Meanwhile a show about a genius using supernatural powers to kill vs a genius detective trying to identify him, is not something where you'd expect crazy action scenes. This is more like if the death note didn't actually kill, but instead put everyone into a coma and when/if kira is caught they all wake up

I guess it's not just the lack of consequences that is the problem, I think it's how the show on top of that also relies on the tease of consequences to build up it's tension. Like Hand dudes hand being an inch away from 3 different characters faces in these 2 episodes but nothing happening in any of those times. Like his whole quirk is disintergrating stuff with just his palm, but all he managed to do was a small amount of fixable damage on aizawa's elbow Again I'm just voicing my personal problems that I have, I'm not saying you're not allowed to enjoy the show for what it is, because I enjoy it too lol, it was a lot more fun and hype than I remembered, it's just that I also have some pretty basic problems with it too, things that could really elevate it even more imo

@kiiturii My point is that it's not that type of show to kill people in its main cast first season. That's not part of the themes it's trying to show the viewer. AOT didn't have main cast deaths early besides Marco and he was a side character/plot point. After that a bunch of other side characters died because that is part of the theme the show was trying to convey; hopeless death and destruction. MHA isn't AOT or Death Note. Nothing happened to Armin S1 episode 5 after the titan ate Eren, all those titans conveniently left him alone. Pyxis at the perfect time stopped that crazy commander from blasting the trio with canons etc. you can nitpick any show with that logic. All of the times Shiggy's hand was in a student's face, and he failed to do anything, was the show reinforcing how amazing the heroes are in this universe when it comes to saving people. The entire show has close calls like that. It's a hero show about saving people, not The Boys or Invincible. Consequences do happen as a result of these fights/conflicts, my point stands.

It is not the content in season 5 that bugs me, it is the execution. Swapping arcs for no reason, subpar animation and giving more time to the weakest arc in the show and leaving the last arc of that season with only 5 episodes when it is the best arc of the season by far. Now I do not think it is bad, it is still good, but compared to all the others it is a bit of a letdown. Still has one of my favourite episodes of the show though.

Wrong Jack. The Dub in MHA is just as good imo. The actor the got for Allmight is awesome. You should definitely rewatch the last 3 episodes in Dub. Season 2 especially I like better in Dub. One scene in particular hits way harder in a good way in the Dub. Bokugo’s VA is also one of the best.

Been a while since I did Kanji readings but I think 出久 (deku) is read two different ways, one is the actual name and one is the way bakugo reads it, meaning “blockhead” (lmao), but since ‘出’ is the same kanji used in Dekiru (I think also Ganbaru like you mentioned? Not sure) Ochaco says it reminds her of that word or something like that

Highly disagree. Some of my favorite characters and fight scenes in anime in Black Clover. If it doesn’t hold up it’s because you’re comparing it to the manga specifically. I don’t think they’d have any issue by just watching it. If they haven’t read the manga I don’t see them disliking it.

He mentioned that he was greatly inspired by other mangaka and while at some mangaka event, he said he often thought something like “hello, sorry, i stole from your manga” 😂. Also yeah Deku’s English va isn’t that great, and the character himself is super whiny in this first season. People tend to not like the mcs that cry and complain a lot, but at the same time, he has some epic moments and just throws himself in the fire with reckless abandon. Im glad you guys enjoyed this first season. The show is pretty consistent, from what I remember, having watched this years ago when it came out. I’m a few seasons behind at this point, so I guess I’ll be catching up alongside you guys. 😼😼

Chris Sabat is the GOAT of dubbed anime. People always say dub sucks but they don't watch it 🤷🏻‍♀️ they see 5 seconds of bad dub and think it's all like that. These guys already have a preconceived notion on it, so I'd rather they watch it in sub and say good things about the show than watch it in dub and focus more on how much they hate how they sound instead of the actual story.

Almost caught up! I still have 5 more episodes in season one plus the recent drop. I definitely want to see Izuku and Bakugo be friends again. Bakugo has so much anger. I agree with Cannon. He needs therapy. I think if he chills out he could be a great hero. But, if he keeps going down this anger crash he might end up having some kind of a villian ARC. Oh and MHA Vigilantes is great, it’s a prequel set about 5 years before EP1 of MHA but you should give it a watch if you have time, If the MHA world is like the Avengers level heroes the vigilantes characters are more the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man (before he powers up), Daredevil, punisher street level heroes you can go in blind but you might have more enjoyment getting further through MHA before starting due to some past cameos

I actually thought the same way as you, people were recommending MHA very early in their anime journey when they were just off of AoT and Vinland Saga so I really wasn't sure they would like the comedy/tropes/etc. and the younger shounen demographic when they complained about those things in shows like FMAB, DS and Naruto. But I think now is the perfect time for them to watch it now that they've seen so many more anime and are more used to it. I'm really glad they're enjoying it; even if MHA isn't one of my top shows or manga, I really enjoyed the first few seasons and hype moments and enjoyed the manga ending, and seeing them being so engaged in their reactions is why we all love watching this channel in the first place!

Eps 7 -9 Bakugo is an absolute Psycho but he’s definitely already going through some growth. Love Carter’s mention of how Bakugo is always told he’s amazing but never actual has success in his own eyes, just failures. Ep 10-13 🐈‍⬛ Wow this show Ramps Up Fast. I didn’t remember how graphic it can be, there’s not gore but they don’t pull their punches when it comes to breaks. Honestly found that fight way more exciting on the rewatch here, such cool animation! Need to know more about Shigaraki, what are his motives! Agreed overall with Carter though that the scope feels one dimensional so far even though there is some intrigue.
