DonDuh103

Shoot dropped already. I’ll have to catchup with y’all later got my mother into watching the live action we just finished the first season and she’s liking it!

Kae D. en

Boku wa doctor Tony Tony chopper 🦌

Qhoa

W

Mauricio.

IRL PEAK PIECE!!

Dasha

jack I hope you remember about ep 8 spoiler 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Dasha

yes chopper is too cute😭

Bloodi_Owl

Yes!! Loved that they put that in there 🎶 so cute!! ❤️

Kurofi

Katey Sagal as Doctarina was such a great casting choice! She plays Peggy Bundy from Married with Children lol

SavDog23

Don't forget the Live Action will sometimes change things up from the anime/manga so that the storyline works better as a live action. In the anime/manga Wapol already had his Devil Fruit even before Blackbeard attacked Drum Island, but the changes in the live action work as it keeps Baroque Works still involved as the overarching antagonists.

GBuckets

BRO why is Dr Kureha so bad? Major Glowup!!!!

alex

They did in fact do that, so so glad you guys are enjoying this, tysm for da reaction

Nanami's Wife

Jack is right, in the anime during Drum Island, they first mentioned Blackbeard invading the island. That's the whole reason Wapol fled, to save his own ahh. Also at the end of Drum Island is when we first saw Ace, since he was trailing Blackbeard

Dale Cooper

She's been a baddy since the 90's.

Nonos

They did mention Blackbeard in drum island pillaging the village in the anime aswell. Easy to forget . That’s why I think the live action does a good job at expanding on little things that canonically happened offscreen.

Dasha

yes mckay she looks gorgeous

SavDog23

Ham Burger appearance IYKYK

Chayma

Mckay is just like me

Chayma

Too many baddies in this show

Chayma

Chopper is just a baby 😔

Musoko

Yo what episodes?

Dasha

vivi got shot by drum island citizens in the anime too, looks like you forgot :(

SavDog23

Vivi was shot in the anime too, and then scolded Luffy for his impulsiveness for wanting to immediately fight. It was an important learning moment for Luffy as Vivi showed him how to be a better leader. Their dynamic during this saga was so good.

Veronia

Luffy carried both sanji and nami up the mountain in the anime, he was carrying him with his teeth the whole way up, I’m assuming that would have been too much of a hassle to try to replicate in live action🤣

Dasha

you reaction to sanji falling and luffy cathing him with his teeth has me DYING rn

Veronia

There was also a moment where he drops sanji and he stretches his neck to catch him with his teeth! I absolutely love that they kept that in the live action loll

SavDog23

The Live Action does a great job of putting into perspective the situations Luffy and the crew go through. The anime can only visualize a scene as good as the medium can allow, so seeing stuff like the journey up Reverse Mountain or Luffy's climb from a real-life POV just makes it even more impressive.

Grae

WAPOL'S WEARING THE HIPPO HE RODE IN THE ANIME 😭😭😭

Nanami's Wife

I was getting cuteness aggression overload from Chopper and then I get hit with the backstory and the waterworks started. Curse you Oda for not only getting me to cry in the anime everytime, but now in the live action too😔

Hegataro

In the manga, Wapol got his mouth replaced with metal (tin) after eating his devil fruit, so that he could eat harder stuff without hurting himself. It's either a scene in the anime that I've forgotten about or they completely ommited it. Here they made him have it before. I'm assuming the implication being that at some point someone blew it smoov off. It was probably done to save time on explaining it; just showing him with the tin mouth signals to the viewer to just take it as is, rather than having an extra scene that shows it being replaced.

Hegataro

That is NOT Abe Lincoln, silly. That's obviously King Ham Burger, of the Ballywood Kingdom.

Toska Water

I'm one of those people that dislike the LA. But I loved Drum Island, they did such a good job adapting this arc.

Hegataro

Mr 11 shows up in the anime, being tied to the mast on Smoker's ship... at the beginning of Alabasta, I think. Miss Thursday doesn't canonically show up anywhere, manga-wise, but Oda did design her character for the live action. According to him, she's meant to be Mr 4's younger sister, hence the shared baseball theme.

Dasha

Jack is right - Sanji was taken out by the avalanche while fighting the rabbits to protect Luffy and Nami. Then Luffy climbs the mountain with Sanji in his mouth and Nami on his back. In the live action it wouldn’t make sense to take Sanji out the same way since there are no rabbits, but he still needed to be on top when Nami wakes up and meets Chopper to stay true to the original

april 🍏

Hiriluk’s performance was insane bro. The delivery of his final lines had me sobbing 😭

SavDog23

Yeah S2 EP7 is definitely the best in the series so far. It's the episode that best captures the story and emotional beats of the original anime episodes of Chopper's backstory (85 and 86). The only scene that the Live Action was really missing was Chopper waving the flag when crying out to Kureha, otherwise an amazing adaption. Hiriluk's actor put on a 10/10 performance, probably the best in the whole show.

SavDog23

"That's why you're kinder than everyone else!" ✋😌🤚

Murasaki

Overall, I love the live-action, although there are a few cringy parts, but still Netflix and Oda nailed it imo. The live action perfectly visualizes the anime scenes and islands, making Oda's original design more impressive. Anime haters usually regard anime as childish or cartoonish, especially One Piece as silly, but look at this, these real-life scenes give me the vibe of Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones. And its only on the weakest part of the story, imagine if it gets to the juicy part of the story, that would be amazing. Definitely a good complement to the anime medium. I am also happy that this live action version has attracted many new fans. I also don't get why some OP fans are so against it.

Sasha (Yare Yare Daze)

Sanji slander is not tolerated on my watch. I think I would love him too much if I read the manga😥

Grae

I'm so happy Cannon clocked them whistling 'Dr. Tony Tony Chopper' I recognised it on my watch as well and it made me happy such a detail was even added, it shows they really care about One Piece. 🌸🎵 BOKU WA DOCTA 🎵🌸

Murasaki

Oda personally selected the casting that's why most of them are so good. Oda: "I also managed to speak with not only the returning cast from Season 1 but also each of the new cast members. My own casting selections were made from Japan over photos and videos, but seeing them all in person convinced me they were absolutely the perfect choice!” And himself is also involved in the Chopper design.

Ninaly

That actor for Hiruluk was randomly one of the best character actors I've seen in a long time. I looked him up and he also has stage play experience, which I feel really helped him deliver these grandiose lines in a way that makes you totally buy in

kuza

the reverie scene was good

Law.D.Maris

Once again I have to give kudus to all the actors and actresses bc they’re doing such a great job & everyone that’s on the staff making this possible. Costume designs, casting, makeup, sound design, etc.. they all care so much about it and it really shows, even in the tiniest details. I can’t wait for y’all to watch the season finale. People hate just to hate and will continue to rag on stuff bc they feel like what they say is of course true. BUT I can’t wait for season 3! So excited to see what they’re going to put in the story😊🥂

Dasha

Don’t do it Sasha you’ll be obsessed and it’s not good for your well being

T

I need a chopper in my life 😭💔

kuza

man wtf that luffy head stretch 💀💀💀

Jack

Why no rabbits 🥺

Jack

I think he was always wearing it lol

Grae

Oh dang you're right, riding a Hippo wearing one of its species skin is such a Wapol thing to do though.

Dasha

he was ready to sacrifice himself for pretty much everyone in the crew 😭 sanji just talks harshly but his actions always say the opposite. one of the best examples is skypiea when he half jokingly tells usopp he’d gladly sacrifice usopp for nami and then 5 minutes later ends up sacrificing himself for usopp

Daniella

BOKU WA DOCTOR 🗣️my baby boy, my literal son, he’s so precious. They did such a good job with his cuteness and mannerisms my ovaries were legit screaming the entire time he was on screen 🥹

Daniella

Mark Harelik did such a phenomenal job as Hiriluk his speech got me so teary-eyed and Katey Sagal as Kureha is so good as well, the way they interact with Chopper you almost forget he’s cgi. Episode 7 is easily the best episode of the season for me.

Daniella

Also Inaki and Taz… hello?? holy fan service (i’m not complaining 🤭)

wanira 11

Kureha's actress absolutely nailed it

Sasha (Yare Yare Daze)

Oh no. Too bad Dasha😥 Because I think I have to do it. Just thinking about finding what One Piece is through insta reels makes my blood boil😌 Also did you delete your other comment? Don't worry I saw that. You are beyond help😃

Drakon

had the same reaction as mckay seeing robin at the start of ep 6

beannie

I’m so sad that I have to watch this later today😭😭 ep 7 is absolute cinema, I can’t wait

Nanami's Wife

Fun fact: Smoker and Garp has never interacted in the anime/story. So, seeing them together is interesting to see. I think they nailed how they would interact with each other

Emily Rose

I adore the live action! I had 0 interest in watching one piece, I just didn’t think it was for me, but my husband had been watching it and really enjoying it. When season 1 of the live action came out he convinced me to watch it with him and I was obsessed. We’re now almost 800 episodes into the anime together 😮‍💨🤍

Poragami

i gotta say Choppers Human Form looks awful icl not only does it look awful, the scene between Dalton and Chopper had no impact whatsoever

jrnoodles

Thanks Geks! I will give my life for this Chopper!

Emily Rose

Jacks reaction every time chopper does ANYTHING, I feel so seen 😂

Mr. John Kagurabachi

Hot take but Inaki Godoy actually played Luffy much better this season and I thought he was 7/10 acting in his best moments and 4/10 in his worst. At most times, I enjoyed his acting. I thought he was funny. Just a couple times I cringed though

Blaise

Vivi was shot in the arm in the anime too.

Junsu

Meh i disagree. his castings were kinda bad. The characters like zoro, nami, and luffy are extremely bad

mari_b

One of my favorite things when watching reactions are the casual insults thrown at each other between siblings. Carter, that blasé insult at canon made me snort.😂

Grenadoxy

Amazing episodes! Though I do miss the scene where Chopper wave the pirate flag and that sad BGM

Sari-chan

McKay "It's our TV, okay?" Bro won't let it go haha

humbleandkindness

8:45 apparently Oda told Mackenyu in person that he wanted his neck specifically to be thicker, so I’m sure he’d be happy to hear that Jack 😂

wanira 11

The thing with Iniaki's acting for me is that even in the less convincing moments, he is so charming that I forgive it easily. Luffy is an insanely hard character to recreate and I think he manages to capture his essence which is all that matters in the end :)

wanira 11

I had the same experience! I had never heard of the anime before the live action. On a whim I decided to check the live action out, fell completely in love with it and 3 years later I'm now 900 episodes deep in the anime lmao

sarkiki

Is the One Piece Live Action 100% perfect? No. But it's extremely enjoyable. You can clearly tell that the people involved are fans and/or are putting careful thought into what they are creating. I've said this before but I REALLY like the live action because I get to experience One Piece a different way. It's not going to be beat for beat (that would be boring), but It has the same spirit that the manga/anime does. It's honoring the characters and the plot, while also trying to tell it's own version and maybe even expand on different things than the anime/manga has. I especially love to look at behind the scenes videos about the filming or listen to the cast/staff talk about the sets because they all look so cool and detailed. I'm right there with you Carter, I'm so jealous of the people that get to work on this production. What a dream come true!

Cannon Andrus

This is exactly the type of experience we wanted to hear!!!

HaoHao 9

There's also a live action bleach movie adaptation that was ok

Sari-chan

When they criticize Chopper human form TEETH!!! Aren't they the actor natural teeth? Too harsh guys come on!

McKay Carter

Definitely not natural teeth haha

McKay Carter

Anime defenders acting like we don’t love Sanji 😂

Walter White

I need a dalton transformation

eiden

DANG 25 yall r old

Kite

chopper my beloved

Mr. John Kagurabachi

I was upset because Jamie Lee Curtis was supposed to dr. Kureha and she loves one piece but couldn’t do it bc of scheduling. But the kureha actor we got fits so much better and I loveeeeeee her acting.

tbone

goooooood stuff

Jack

Ohhh I saw some interview about her and one piece but didn’t know she actually wanted to do it

Jack

27

Jack

If those are real I won’t feel bad in the slightest, brush those honkers

Jack

YEEEEEE

Jack

Luffy is definitely the toughest of the crew to replicate. Franky might be a bit tuff too, but they are doing a great job with chopper

Jack

We had talked about that! Cannon mentioned it I believe

Jack

I think it is his most monstrous form atp, so it kinda makes sense

Kite

ngl I didn't like the first season at all but this one really improved in every way, specially episode 7

saida

"what did i do?" is all it took for the tears to start and they didn't stop until episode 8 for me

Sari-chan

The doubling down is craaazy lol

saida

episode 7 single-handedly made me the president of the protect tony tony chopper committee and made him my favourite straw hat. i'm watching the anime right now but i'm only on the arlong park arc, so the live action is my only intro to chopper and hiriluk—they are my favourite story so far, all the waterworks the entire time man. i can't wait to get to the drum island arc in the anime, i wonder if i'll cry again (knowing me, probably).

saida

me too!

Scarlowi

i like how they did the build up to the climb and the climb in the anime better than the live action.

Ana

Chopper is soooo cute. And omg the actor for the dr was an amazing actor. Took me through every emotion. Season 2 has just been so emotional they definitely delivered and improved so much. Love these two episodes. I love vivi so much. Zoro looked soooooo hot these two episodes too like sheesh 😮‍💨😮‍💨

Ana

The actress we got is an icon Katy detail I think she was the better choice even though I love JLC also

Ana

This is also his first role. I think his acting is gotten so much better since season 1. I think all the straw hats besides ussop’s actor he’s a bit better are on the same level of acting but they are also going for anime vibes with anime dialogue

Ana

He’s supposed to look uncanny and weird. He’s a whole other being. Him being shot at in that form makes alot of sense. He looks creepy

Ana

His scenes bought me to tears. He deserves all the awards

wanira 11

Those are obviously fake teeth guys cmon 😂

wanira 11

@Jack cgi budget probably

Apex

Real life Robin is mckay’s dream come true, that “damn” at the start had me rolling 🤣

Sari-chan

Probably because mine are chopped too 🥲 Sari Sari Chopped

GBuckets

Zoro jumpscare in the beginning was funny

Poragami

he does look creepy, i know i shouldnt do this, but comparing to the anime, dalton and chopper clashing with his insane rage, god, sends shivers down my spine

sil 🧸ྀི

after playing pokopia all afternoon lets watch some one piece CHOPPER I WILL PROTECT YOU WITH MY LIFE

HaoHao 9

The backstory adaptation was amazing. Although I do kinda wish they kept the part where Hiriluk uses a gun to drive chopper away and when he says something like it won't be chopper's mushroom that kills him when he blows himself up.

Earthshatter

Ok as a non anime watcher, I fuck with chopper. That lil beast is my boy

stako

i knew it was coming when s2 was announced. i knew it was coming when the first trailer dropped. i knew it was coming when i started the episode and it still got me bro

HaoHao 9

Dang Hiriluk's actor's last name is Harelik

Faradyn

I know that the Blackbeard reference seems wild, but it actually did happen during Drum Island in the anime and manga. It comes up later in Alabasta because Ace was tracking Blackbeard and that's why he is there.

sil 🧸ྀི

oh my god episode 7 is literally the best thing ever

Kuro

Im really glad you guys are sticking up for the opla, I saw a lot of hate on twitter for it by literal One Piece fans, and it was genuinely so sad to see, knowing how much exposure the live action is giving to the anime. The live action is actually turning so many normies into one piece fans, and even getting those people to start the anime. I would think those One piece fans would be more supportive of it, considering the cast is amazing and they're putting so much time and effort, and Oda is literally making so many decisions and final changes based on his vision, which they claim to respect so much, but some of that hate is still sad to see. You could go to instagram and tiktok, and so many people genuinely don't ever want to start the anime because of it being "too long" and that has been the discourse when it comes to one piece for YEARS. Now, all those fans on social media WANT to start the anime because of it, and even those who still refuse to watch the anime and just stick to the live action, which it still in itself is great because anybody who discovers the world of one piece is in for a ride, is still giving love to stories and characters that so many people love dearly and have known for more than a decade. I hope you guys continue to support the live action, s3 should be coming soon as well since they're about to wrap filming around summer and from what I heard Oda is planning 12 seasons, but of course Netflix needs to keep renewing. With the ratings and positive discourse, though, I'm confident they will. Also s2 was delayed so much because writers strike happened around the time s1 came out and they couldn't film or really do much in support for the writers protesting, but when it was over, they went straight to filming s2 and s3 back to back.

Kuro

she was actually in talks with Matt Owens for it, and she was going to have the role but then she had a scheduling conflict for a movie she was filming.

clair ♪

#felt watching opla in 2023 was the best choice ever i cant imagine my life without one piece now !!!! its so sad, people will complain about anything and forget to focus on the great care and beautiful work that is being put into this adaptation. they're all so miserable 💔

Lemur

My only complaint was them cutting Daltons absolute bar where he tells Wapol you can't cure fools. This season but especially episode 7 have been amazing and makes me so excited for Alabasta.

Lorenzo

Manga version, Anime version, and Netflix adaptation but good

charlie

Vivi was shot in the manga too its just a graze thats why its not as big of a deal

Connor Lawson

I love how the live action reemphasizes the foreshadowing oda sprinkled in early one piece. And with the knowledge we know now, they can even build the narrative string stronger along the way

Geev

Dang im crying again, chopper & dr hiriluk are adorbs

1804

The ones that brought Chopper to life were the following (you can also see them in the Behind The Scenes content): Mikaela Hoover (voice and face capture), N'kone Mametja (on set proxy performer/on set Chopper) and Gavin Gomes (heavy point/"human" chopper) as well as the VFX team :) They're all Chopper

1804

im glad they kept that!

Miguel

"Damn!" was my reaction too

❣️ Vladlena ❣️

Guys, why I can’t watch episode 1 season 2? 🥲 I have access to all next episodes, but not this one (I have a Live Action Only Tier)

JBVI

he is the One piece

Michael Iparraguirre

I sobbed when I saw chopper crying! Life mistreated my baby and I will NOT have it!!!

ayesha khan

I can't watch episode one of the new season for some reason? it's locked for me, i have the live action tier??

kuza

ep 7 was the best ep by far

kuza

hiriluk 🐐

kuza

i dont think luffy climbing was done justice though ngl and they didnt include the rabbit scene but is what it is

cozo

why is it not crazy to say the live action could be better then the anime if it keeps improving and covers future arcs, idk about the manga tho

Szonin

Mark Hiriluk is the best actor of the season!

Apex

I’m a huge fan of One Piece and I’m amazed at how good season 2 has been. It’s by no means trying to do it’s own thing though, every story beat is almost 1 for 1 with the show. Which is great, they’re doing justice to the source material, even if they have to embrace goofy costumes etc. Small things like sanji climbing the mountain instead of being carried seems like a missed opportunity, but with a small budget for time (even with a large monetary budget) and with so much source material to get through they need to make cuts like the rabbit fight slightly altering the details but still staying true to the story.

Apex

I knew as soon as I saw the rabbit pelts in the town that the fight would be cut, they love teasing anything they have to cut, safe to say the same for chopper & usopp vs mole woman & bazooka dog after smoker absolutely packed her up with that home run

Neti

chopper gives me insane cuteness aggression I WILL DIE FOR YOU LITTLE REINDEER

Mauricio.

Smoker packed up miss thursday, not miss merry christmas. I also got confused the first time jajaja.

Tate Elkins

she got grazed by the bullet haha. you can side the wound on the side of her arm, it didn't even go directly through it.

DonDuh103

Chopper is are cute blue nose reindeer!
