Man one piece is so one piece like this one piece of fiction is number one of all master pieces and pieces so much into one, and boys have only watch one piece of story and i cant wait them to finish all of it and get a the whole piece of the great storytelling and make it one, as they embark upon this journey of piecing up the story into one and i give them one piece of advice that is enjoy it while its in one piece.

In my opinion, watching the remake for the end of the arc is not the way. You guys would have 3 eps left in the remake, but it's actually the section of the arc that the remake adapts worst, as it crams 14 OG eps into 3x 20 minute episodes. It skips a lot of important canon content like the end of arc lore and setting up future plots/characters, and also butchers two of the best scenes in the arc. You guys can always check out the best moments OG/Remake comparison videos on youtube after you've finished the arc.

It’s not a remake, it’s a remaster. It’s literally just a newly edited version with the exact same footage but with a visual filter and some new sound effects. And in my opinion the best scene of the arc is at the end and the cuts in the remaster ruin it. So heavily against ending the arc with the remaster. Feel free to watch it afterwards but not as your first experience with the arc.

Honestly I was team one pace for this arc for the longest but if I’m being real yall should def just use the remake to finish it. This arc is genuinely so ass and yall already experienced the best part by far which is the fisher tiger backstory. Even if the remake cuts out a tiny bit of manga material I guarantee yall will have ZERO issues following the rest of the story. It’s so worth it just to move on with this arc and get a small taste of the upgrade in art style. As someone who’s caught up, I promise you will have no difference in experience using remake instead of one pace.

There is only one scene in the remake I can think of that “butchers it”, but the rest I would say is definitely an upgrade in every way possible. They even added a new cut in the remake that wasn’t in the original which I think was amazing!!

Wapometal is actually explained in Wapol's Cover Story which takes place elsewhere in the One Piece world during the Skypiea arc. The anime unfortunately doesn't adapt Cover Stories (except for when it's main plot relevant) so here's a summary of the Cover Story with a bit of help from chatgpt: In the One Piece cover story “Wapol's Omnivorous Hurrah,” Wapol is blasted off Drum Island after losing to Luffy and becomes homeless. While wandering, he uses his Baku Baku no Mi powers to eat and combine junk and scrap metal into toys and starts a toy shop business. By accident, he creates a powerful shape-memory alloy called "Wapometal". The alloy become a huge commercial success, making Wapol rich again and eventually king of the Evil Black Drum Kingdom on an island in the South Blue. In Marineford, Wapometal is used for the high and thick steel walls that emerge to trap the pirates during the war, and was shown to be strong enough to withstand even Whitebeard's attacks. Franky also uses Wapometal during the 2 year timeskip to build the General Franky mecha armor.

Once again, reading cover stories takes very little time, and by skipping them you miss a LOT of context and lore 😔 Though I do get that it’s the anime’s fault for not adapting them. I still don’t understand why they make filler episodes when fully canon cover stories exist

The remake had a lot of potential but wasted it all. The OG's problem is that it is stretched out too much, and the remake went the other way too hard. It didn't allow for a scene to breathe at all, and the pacing was faster than most of Code Geass. The person who gave you your watching guide is correct. I would have loved to see reactions to the remake's new animation, but they fumbled the pacing too

McKay always manages to ragebait me into commenting (lol, altho this time it's not ragebait). To explain a little more on the Haki that you mentioned in the beginning: It's not only 'willpower' (strength of your conqueror's) that they were trying to explain, but also 'control'. You actually saw it happening in action when Silvers Rayleigh first came out of the auction house. He did Haki and made everyone faint except for the Strawhats + Hachi/Camie (and other stronger pirates withstood it as well). Similar to Zoro's concept of being able to cut nothing and anything (cutting rock but not paper). So just because someone withstood another's Haki doesn't always mean that they overpowered the Haki (In no world could Camie withstand Raleighs Haki). 'Willpower' = The strength/who you can actually overpower with conquerer's haki vs Control = Mastery/skill in choosing who to activate Haki on The previous commentor was probaly trying to mention that Shank's haki is not only stronger but skill level much higher than Luffy's

While the characters kinda just showing up places in the One Pace edits feels off, that's also how the manga tends to be, especially between chapters. Oda sometimes just doesn't give a fuck about traveling and just wants the story to move forward. And sometimes the anime completely changes scenes from the manga, so the One Pace guys don't have any material to work with, although that's a much rarer case.

Carter! You're right about Aesop's Fables (the boy who cried wolf). But it's even more multilayered than just that. The Uso in Usopp's name comes from the Japanese word 'Uso' (嘘) meaning to lie and 'Usotsuki' (嘘つき) meaning liar. Then the long nose is a reference to Pinocchio's nose and how it grew every time he told a lie. Oda really went in with the layers for Usopp's inspiration XD.

Ngl This arc is way better on a rewatch and I’m not the biggest fan of the fights in this arc, and the main reason is that the villains just don’t feel on the same level as the crew, nor do they really have much of a story. It kinda felt like they were only there to show off the Straw Hats’ strength and development after the timeskip. But story-wise? Wow, it’s genuinely one of the better arcs, especially once you start connecting all the threads together. I really like the arc’s characters too Shirahoshi is my favorite, and the others are good and serve the story really well. I’m more excited for the ending of the arc than the fights, so get ready. I’m pretty sure you’ll like the next arc even more.

So far in Fishman Island, the themes are great — the racism stuff, Fisher Tiger/Otohime, lore. But it’s mixed with a lot of slop. No stakes, no real tension, and the crew barely talks about anything important after a two‑year timeskip. No Ace talk, no Revolutionary Army talk, nothing. The villains feel weak, the side characters don’t add much and are annoying and a waste of time, and Sanji’s fanservice gag literally becomes a plot point just to bench him. Most of the crew gets sidelined for no reason. The pacing is all over the place too — scenes drag, jokes interrupt serious moments, and half the side characters feel pointless. For a post‑timeskip arc, it doesn’t feel like the big comeback it should’ve been. You can love One Piece and still call out when Oda drops the ball. He’s not perfect.

@Jonas Teigen its not meant to have stakes, the villains are intentionally "weak" or underwhelming because the fighting of this arc is just meant to be a strawhat power showcase. the first arc of post timeskip would never have actual stakes. think of the first act, idk if you have watched past this point but fishman islands positioning in the story makes a lot more sense with more context of post time skip. If you think luffy would ever bring up ace or ask about anyones time during the 2 years then I recommend you to recall moments where similar situations have happened and you will realize luffy doing that would be completely out of character. pacing isnt oda's fault either. the rest fairs but toei really "dropped the ball"

If you guys recall from Thriller Bark the team doing the "docking" gag. It foreshadowed a Franky mecha. Arguable that it could be coincidence, but some fans like myself like to believe it was planned. (Edit: commented before Jack brought it up in video) Having a second watch through of this arc and I understand the grievances for fish-man island now. I am very fond of the big plot points but I forgot about how long it took to get there. Still a ride or die for One Piece. Good story. Execution is controversial and I get that

I want to highlight bringing up Usopp being Aesop. I vaguely remembering commenting something similar but not sure if it was on this Patreon when yall first saw Usopp. Usopp's name does come from Aesop of Aesop's Fables - Greek storyteller (One Piece Odyssey). Usopp the aspiring sea warrior who wants to go to Elbaf (Fable backward). Other combined inspirations was Boy Who Cried Wolf and Pinocchio (Long nose liar). Slingshot user who aspired to the Giants (Little Garden) is inspired by David in the Bible who faced giants with a slingshot (Tangent highlight: Noah's Arc, Sodom and Gomorrah of the Franky Family, Ace and Marco's Whitebeard Cross, Kuma's Bible, Zoro found on a cross/Mihawk's cross). Not sure if this is considered appropriate to share but it's kinda in your face. Monkey D. Luffy who wants to be King of the Pirates. Monkey King who fought the Buddah (Marineford Admiral) on a Journey to the West.

Force = mass x acceleration. If two forces are pushing against each other in equal Force there is no movement, no acceleration. Hence why we don't fall into the ground. Stretched Luffy on leg is prepped but not pulling yet. Rocket Luffy would be pulling down but if Sanji legs exert a force stronger than the pull than it is fine and there is a net acceleration in the intended direction. Sanji defies gravity with his kicks. Not a stretch to assume he can kick harder than Luffy is intentionally pulling (Edit: Commented after the clarification about equal forces)

The items Decken threw earlier were arrows and knives and such. They move toward the target, but those were streamlined and designed projectiles. The ship is moving towards it's target, but still deals with friction (air and water).

If she just touched the boat is valid criticism. Never thought about it. Not sure if the object in motion will stop in motion with the rules of Decken's powers. The arrows and such stopped in Hachi's body. I imagine the ship would continue to move and hit her with the Force it was last going. Given how fast mermaids are supposed to be moving underwater I assume that's how fast the ship is going. Edit: Could Shirahoshi tank the force of the ship still moving assuming the object needs to be stopped and doesn't stop itself?
