* The title of the episode, "Save the Last One", refers to the well known rule in zombie apocalypse stories that survivors should always save the last bullet for themselves if surrounded by a group of zombies. This makes the title quite misleading, as Shane doesn't use his last bullet on himself, but on Otis.

Don't be discouraged by other opinions on the show. While I agree some seasons are really bad, even those have fans. Also the quality drops at some point but picks back up again after. So it's not like it gets worse n worse.

The best thing about re watching for me is that I catch certain things or situations I probably didn’t catch watching the first time and then also I get to see the characters and situations in a new light. Especially in the later seasons.

There are still so many unanswered questions at this point. What did the guy at the CDC whisper to Rick? Will Lori ever tell Rick about the relationship between her and Shane? Where's Merle? Where's Sophia? What's going on with Morgan and his son? Will Dale tell anybody that he saw Shane pointing that rifle at Rick. The suspense is killing me even though I already saw the show. Even when Carl froze up at 21:20, I thought he was gonna die. 😮

I'm being a bit of a hindsight merchant here, but the choice of whether or not to kill Otis probably could've been avoided altogether. If Shane and Otis could've picked off a stray walker, they could've used the blood and organs to mask themselves and sneak around easier. I can't remember if Rick even told Shane about that or not though, but RIP Otis. Shane is obviously a loose cannon/impulsive man at times, and while he feels as though he has to make tough calls that others can't, making these calls is clearly further deteriorating his mental state. It's also worse that he didn't shoot him in the head either, as I feel like a corpse alone would be enough to hold off most or all of the walkers.

Genuine first time watcher prediction: Rick 100% will kill Shane potentially as his first human kill in the apocalypse -> extinguishing the light he currently has as Carter says. I feel like saying it now could be kinda late but there's been set up for it for a while now. I don't know if it will be after Rick eventually learns about the relationship between Lori and Shane or there's a situation where Rick might "need" to kill him.

It's almost like Shane is having a panic attack looking at himself in the mirror and only calms down when he finds the razor and shaves his head. Like he couldn't bare to look at the old version of himself anymore and he had to become something else to make his appearance match the action he just did.

To be fair, he first asked Otis to leave him and save Carl, but he refused. I like to believe that the only way out that Shane could think of, was if one of them were sacrificed. He even voulenteered.

the reason for Shane to shoot Otis in the knee and not in the head is because he wanted to slow Otis down and make him a bait for the zombies. Also, his screams would have drawn the attention of the zombies, so they would be busy attacking Otis than run after Shane.

the thing is even if the season is mid, they have some iconic epic moments that got stuck with people. I like the show up until season 5 I think, after that it kinda got repetitive in some way and then I stopped during season 7
