this was a very eye opening ending. my friend already guessed going into the theater that they wouldn’t escape the game but I didnt think goose would actually do it. its a kind of nihilistic ending but I really respect the philosophy she is conveying despite how much I was against it at first. definitely gave end of eva vibes. still wish we got a little bit more but it still feels like it tied up well thematically

I loved your whole discussion at the end, this whole reaction was a gank for me too, I would've never expected you guys to react to this. I love how you can appreciate the introspective ending and see what really stands out about this show and what its trying to say, which is what does it means to be human. I think you got the gist of the brain scan stuff, but the wifi scene was just Caine trying to access some random cafe wifi to go onto the net and see what their real selves have been doing. The thing with the brain scans was; at some point all of them put on a headset presumably from Caine & Able, which took a scan of their consciousness at that exact point in time. When Caine went rouge he found the brain scan files and put them into the circus at different points in time. That's why they are all confused when they get into the circus as to why they can't get the headset off.

I haven't read the source material this is based off, but by the way everyone talks about it, it sounds like it has a bad ending. That's why I liked this ending as not every bad situation has to be terrible all the time and I think that's what really stands out in this show. That being said it is a really nihilistic ending, like they're gonna just be there till the power goes off.

very nihilistic, its a pretty bold move especially since the show sells you hope through out the story but in hindsight it all makes sense. there really never was an exit

I was also expecting waaaay more lore tbh, but I enjoyed the finale so much!! Specially the experience in theaters, it was so funny lol. The Jax backstory was PEAAAAK, I kinda wish we got something like this for every character, but I understand that’s way too greedy lol😭. Sooo much props to the creator and all the team behind it!! This show is amazing!! Yall really put me on to some peak🗣️

i'm a bit confused about whether the show is implying that jax is gay/trans between his outfit, the blushing, the "your secret is safe with me" line, and the fact that i've heard the creator of the series is trans, it feels like there might be some subtext there. does the show actually imply that jax is trans, or am i reading too much into it?

No everyone else can definitely see the subtext too, and they're having a debate on social media about whether Jax is actually trans or not. The VA's for Gangle and Ragatha confirmed it, but obviously they aren't the creators. My opinion is she probably is trans as putting 'Isn't she lovely' as her send off song after Ribbit put the bow on her, and with one of the aspects of her personality being in the maid dress she supposedly hated made it pretty obvious. My only complaint is that I wish they didn't make it so obscure. I would've liked to see Jax, a little down the line in transition living her best life as that's kinda what the whole video tape was about. Though I know that isn't realistic (especially coming out of homelessness) for most trans people, it still would have been nice.

It’s interesting this show revolved around these characters being more open to talk to each other. With Pomni being the breaking point to open everyone up. Maybe this kinda parallels real life. People are much more open online same as are characters in the amazing digital circus. Everyone is quick to talk and be open online/digital world but then we see all are characters in real life not say or interact at all with each other at the bus stop? Also with Jax opening up and getting to personal and close to Ribbit was making it feel like reality which was something Jax’s character was trying to escape maybe why he openly repeated to everyone mostly himself that this world isn’t real.

I still have mixed feelings about the ending ngl, even with a rewatch. I really liked that they stayed in the circus but I would've liked more answers about c&a and caine, all the Scratch stuff felt a little bit wasted, plus how they all got the headset on to come into the circus unless, like you guys said, maybe some people got onto a wifi whilst some people wore a headset. It was objectively a really good ending though, and Gooseworx did such a phenomenal job, I'm just sad it's over 😭

I kind of wish we got to know who created the circus/Caine and Abel and how they got there. I also wish the weight of deleting Caine was slightly heavier like the end of ep 8 made it seem like it shattered their whole realm. But it was over all a great ending for me. I loved this series so much more than I thought I would when I started it with you guys. My brother, who I found out has been watching since the start years ago, thinks that there being so much Jax in the last episode and finding out the group was not real people placed in the circus for a particular reason, was disappointing/underwhelming. I dk if I agree but I see his point of view

see this is really why I think they will do some sort of sequel, and Im not saying a season 2 I think that would be too much but some sort of epilogue or spin off or spiritual successor, shi SOMETHIN bc damn I was really invested. I also would be cool if there wasnt one but yea I would definitely like more answers too
