Solo Leveling MOVIE teaser reaction plssss?:D

r2d2adam

I know right lol

beannie

We’re going back to Enies lobby??

GreetswithJudgement

I’m also in that era. Thanks Cannon for saying what others are afraid to say. Except for me. I’ll say it loud and clear.

Camden

Can't believe Cannon hates Zoro

Sasha (Yare Yare Daze)

Arittake nooooo yumee wooooo kakii atsumeeeeeeee sagashi monooo sagashiiii nii yukuuu no saaaa One Piece

Pudding

Your opinion of Zoro feels totally valid Cannon. Like I can't imagine current Zoro doing anything silly like the Tarzan scream he let out in Skypiea. He feels too serious for that kinda stuff now. But ig the 2 year training just hardened him and that's the point.

Lorenzo

Dw cannon i also miss pre ts zoro and his humor

Kayanolive

Same, he was so laid back and funny man i miss him laughing and being a bit less stoic and borderline annoying at times

Dasha

Zoro had to swallow his pride, bow and headbutt floor in front of his greatest enemy because he realised that he has failed his captain. Ace’s death changed Luffy and Zoro more than anyone else.

Rayanh Shequinah Nansha

Concerning the intro: Zoro told Luffy to lock in because Luffy lost. He's not typically annoyed with Luffy for taking it easy at all. He just thinks Luffy should take his fights seriously not to lose in a fight, especially now that they're in the New World. I do get that Cannon wants more from Zoro because he loves him that much, but for me it was just nice to see him relax rather than super intense, super focused. I like his chill side better, so that might be why as well. For me, after "Nothing Happened," my favorite Zoro moments (up to this point anyway) would be when he tried to slice up the Celestial Dragon at Sabaody, when he asked Mihawk to train him pre-timeskip and when he dominated the fishmen under Hordy while underwater in Fishman Island.

Dasha

I personally think that moment was an even better character moment than nothing happened. Well, without nothing happened it won’t work the same, so I guess they just compliment each other

Hansen

happy 4th!

Dasha

no shit

beannie

All I can say about the intro is that it was a very interesting convo, hope you guys consider doing an OP Q&A someday! There’s so many interesting topics that you don’t get to discuss in the reactions, just like this one

Emily Rose

Jack is so good at keeping a straight face I’m honestly impressed

DonDuh103

Cannon ain’t wrong. This why Zoro ain’t the MC

Dasha

Never said he was wrong, he’s actually more right than wrong considering the point they are at and the fact it’s their first watch and he might forget some stuff

Emily Rose

I remember the first time I watched this I was so pissed at how bad Law was doing in this fight 😂 I mean, to be fair, Vergo has his heart but it was frustrating to see him get whooped like that

Maj

I was literally just about to write this comment hahaha, that plus the fact that that moment came after he heard the news first hand that Ace died in Luffy's arms as opposed to just reading about it in the paper like everyone else

Dasha

law looks so good when he’s beaten up😋😋

Dasha

Robin can’t spine break a logia user

E

W Cannon, to me zoro just got boring post ts.

Dasha

“especially after not packing up sanji” ok guys they fought for 5 seconds and he broke sanji’s leg, it has to mean something no? 😭

Chérie

Pre-time skip is the best One Piece and I'll forever die on that hill. Man I love a lot of the plot lines post ts but that's lwk a whole different show

Mdgk

W Cannon take. Zoro goes from as funny as any other crew member to the safe edgy classic anime swordsman. He's still great but the difference is massive.

Toska Water

I remember in the earlier days people saying to the geks to appreciate all the random straw hat interactions they have with one another, cause you get less of it after the timeskip.

Pudding

Idk what it is about Monet, but I'm mesmerized every time she's on screen. I don't think any other OP character gives me that effect.

Scarlet

About the intro, In Baratie after the Mihawk fight, Zoro promised to Luffy, using Kuina's sword, that he will never lose again. Then Thriller Bark happened where he lost to Kuma, Sabaody happened where he was the first one sent flying, Marineford where he failed to support his captain. We know how big he is on his promises so when he failed several times, that took a toll on him. I think the events of pre TS especially the last ones led him to why he is acting this way now. It's sad that he became a more serious character but trauma changes people and have different ways of dealing with it.

Sasha (Yare Yare Daze)

It's very valid though. I have waited for someone to start the hate train😏

Rayanh Shequinah Nansha

To be fair to Law, Vergo nearly broke Sanji's leg and dipped before their fight got anywhere. He also didn't actually try to beat Sanji the way he's doing Law. With Sanji, he just wanted to kill the G5 and Sanji kept getting in his way. But with Law, this shxt is personal. The first time I saw their interaction, it just felt to me like he son'd Law rather than anything else. And the whole "Vergo-san" for me is more of a question of respect. Like he's overly obsessed about Law showing him respect and Law is purposefully not doing that just to piss him off.

1804

All the strawhats are pretty "consistent" once their arc is covered and the audience gets a grasp of who they truly are imo, and I do agree with what Carter says, the world has grown really big and now we're exploring this "New World" and I think it's one of the main things that differentiates it with before the time skip (where it focuses more on the SH the way I see it)... I'd like to know more opinions about the rest of the strawhats and other characters too as the story progresses. And btw it is not a rare opinion, especially regarding Zoro, so it's nice to know what you think as of currently in the story :) Also Franky getting love is always nice

Enma

Carter is completely right in the intro. There is just so much going on that its difficult to implement more character stuff with the straw hats. I always thought of pre time skip as the crew's "arc", like its more oriented around the straw hats and building each character up. And post time skip is more about the overall story and developing complex plot lines outside of the crew. This isn't to say that we won't get those moments with our main cast because we definitely will, but it does feel like they are sometimes in the background of something much grander.

Kurofi

Sanji didn’t really damage Vergo and got hurt in the process. Also Vergo had law’s heart so it makes sense that he has the upper hand?

Lorenzo

SPOILERS: SPOILERS FR: How tf did Carter go spot on with that kaido guess

Kayanolive

Cannon ur so real for the zoro take. I got tons of shit for pointing out that he became super stoic

AdustNinee

I just think Zoro has trust in his crew to handle the dragon. If it were a real problem, he would have stepped in

Enma

The Noah was made up of wood and metal and Luffy only managed to slow it down slightly, until the Sea Kings came. Monet was also perpetually reinforcing the snow walls compacting on one another after each layer broke, essentially becoming as strong as steel. Its just a bad match up tbh. Monet is weaker but played it smartly. Also Luffy is highly susceptible to trickery (for a lack of better word), remember how many times Jango got his ass with the hypnosis Dont get me wrong, I'm not the biggest fan of the Luffy vs Monet fight, it just feels like a way to consume the time, but thats also Monet's goal so you know

charlie

Zoro is the same character he always was idk what you’re talking about here Cannon

charlie

what humor bruh

Kayanolive

11:53 Sanji did become like 5 times more creepy so i get the criticism (like shirahoshi aint 18,planning to take pictures of namis naked body without her consent, being so horny that he lost a lifethreatening amount of blood and so on..)

BDIRCT

I agree with Jack on the fact that Zoro needed to be the one to get serious as the second in command for the second half of the grand line, possibly to keep Luffy from becoming less of himself. For the plot, it makes sense. Luffy‘s freedom is his identity, and if he had to be more serious for any reason, I feel that it would’ve taken away from his personality and we wouldn’t get to enjoy the fun side of him as much. Though it does suck that Zoro has to be so nonchalant most of the time.

BDIRCT

It’s almost like Zoro falls into the background character role. Less of a straw hat and more like a straw hat lackey😭

BDIRCT

Stop😂

Rayanh Shequinah Nansha

He doesn’t hate him, though. What I’m getting is he just wishes Zoro was more serious. For me, the scene with the dragon just showed Zoro knew he could take it easy because his crewmates are all capable. For Cannon, Zoro’s attitude didnt make sense after he yelled at Luffy to lock in.

BDIRCT

Most definitely agreed. But for Vergo’s side, I guess it would be bad if he got his ass handed to him when he’s supposed to be one of the strongest in the marines.

Enma

What if Caesar was micro dosing his men with carbon monoxide to make them dumber

Clay

Vergo would have clapped Sanji.

Enma

Oh so when Jack gives his theories its throwing shit at the wall, but when Carter says something its taken as some prophetic vision. I see how it is... 💔💔/s

Sari-chan

The whole intro being about "dragons" and Jack's T-shirt are so perfectly aligned, we appreciate!

Rayanh Shequinah Nansha

I agree with what you said in your top comment, but not so much with your reply to yourself. He's not any more of a background character than the other Straw Hats. The general storyline takes precedence, that's the only reason why you might feel like he's a background character, but that's true for all of them, not just Zoro. And he became more serious, yes, but I don't think that takes anything away from Zoro's character. He went through his own character growth after "Nothing Happened," after not being able to do much when Kuma showed up at Sabaody, and when he found out he wasn't able to be there for Luffy when Ace died. Not to mention, Zoro can afford to be nonchalant now because his crewmates have become strong enough to handle themselves. He trusts them enough to relax unless the situation truly demands otherwise.

Rayanh Shequinah Nansha

From the sound of it, he just wishes Zoro had another epic moment like Nothing Happened.

SavDog23

Zoro becoming more mature throughout the story is actually a gradual progression of his character that makes sense. He always took his role and responsibility seriously, but there's been several moments that would have pushed Zoro to become even more serious and focus on his training/combat/role, all for Luffy and the crew. Zoro vs Mihawk at Baratie, Nothing Happened, Strawhats losing at Sabaody, and hearing about Ace dying in Luffy's arms. These are all moments that have given Zoro a hard-earned maturity. Spending 2 years with Mihawk, who is the most emotionless character in the story, would have had an effect too. Zoro telling Luffy to lock in is directed towards himself too, Sanji confirms this when he comments about how Zoro is so hard on himself (for losing to the Yeti Cool bros). For the dragon thing, Kinemon and Brook are right there, so Zoro knows they can handle it, which they did. So it's not so much that he's become emotionless, but that he keeps his emotions tightly in check so that he minimalizes the risk of him or the crew going through any type of traumatic situations again.

Rayanh Shequinah Nansha

" safe edgy classic anime swordsman" is a reductive way to put it, especially when we can all pinpoint what pushed him to grow more serious overtime.

Rayanh Shequinah Nansha

lol rather than humor, it's more that he was light hearted in comparison to now. I think he still is, though he's also more intense than he used to. I personally like every facet of his character.

Rayanh Shequinah Nansha

lol no one's afraid to say it. I've heard worse , especially from Sanji fans who hate Zoro due to the whole Zoro x Sanji rivalry.

BDIRCT

I guess it just feels like we see less of Zoro than we see of the rest of the straw hats. I agree with you as well. It doesn’t take away from Zoro‘s character. I think in the beginning he was more serious than people give him credit for. The way they are now shows how Oda made them into more mature people after the time skip whereas in the beginning, they were goofy characters and I think some of us miss that at times, but there’s nothing wrong with their personalities today.

SavDog23

18:40 Luffy's lock-in against Monet is a great scene.

GreetswithJudgement

First, we're talking about Zoro, not Sanji or his fans. I have my strong opinions about One Piece characters as a whole but that’s not the topic here. Second, plenty of people avoid sharing unpopular opinions because they don't want the inevitable backlash…so your “lol no one’s afraid to say that” is impossible to prove and you would “lol” be wrong.

Sasha (Yare Yare Daze)

Yep Rayanh, I agree. Cannon also said he doesn't hate Zoro(sadly) but I think the conversation about him being too serious is so valid because he was genuinely quite goofy in the earlier anime.

DonDuh103

Zoro did diff Hordy in the water

It's me

why do u have a problem with strong females

wanira 11

Jack doing the monkey staring meme at the camera will never not be hilarious to me

Chérie

Post ts Zoro has been the most nonchalant & least emotional in every sense. His character is still like that up to date. Pre ts Zoro had so much more personality to him & that applies to MANY characters in One Piece! Oda bit more than he can chew after the post ts.

Mdgk

I don't think it's reductive when that safeness is core to his character and his role in the story. Zoro has always served as an anchor for the crew in several different ways. In terms of leadership, goal orientation, and one of Luffy's primary weaknesses (facing every sword opponent so Luffy doesn't have to). And beyond his anchoring within the story he serves to anchor a lot of fans. Instead of having to navigate One Piece character designs for someone worth rooting for Oda created a classic aesthetic in Zoro that fans can lean on when they need something to hook their interest. That anchoring role and safeness is rooted exactly in the growth you'd cite even.

Dasha

"sadly" lmao

Chérie

100% agree with the take on Zoro & it applies to so many more characters.

Murasaki

I agree with every word Carter said. It's obvious that a lot is happening and even more to come, which inevitably sacrifices character development. But I'm a suker for story plots and world building so it's not an issue for me, also tbh if there were sudden changes or developments in the straw hat characters right now, it would actually feel a bit forced. But by saying that, I do wish that there would be more peak character moments and I understand the critism of the straw hat character being weaker than pre timeskip.

Murasaki

Regarding the Zoro discussion, he wasn't my favourite until post timeskip. It's personal preference but I like that he's more matured like a real man carries everything in his own by himself, and being nonchalant is always a big hit for me. I dont get your beef on him not fighting the dragon, its like the most capable person in a company that acts chill on the stuff and trusts and leaves it to the others but ready to step up if something's off. And post tk Zoro is totally different from the live action Zoro who is like edgy teenager, anime Zoro is matured but chill.

Spideycain

yeah zoro hate for sure no matter how you worded lol (JKJK) but when you really like that you don't need to prove nothing until a real threat comes

Ceci

I think you have every right to feel disappointed in some aspects of the show. I think that shows how much you guys love the show. I think the whole crew has changed in a lot of ways due to what happened in sabaody. Pre time skip the crew is very layback and laughing and enjoying the pirate life but when shit hit the fan they lost. This isn't the time to joke around anymore. I agree with cannon.

luiel

Day 17 of asking studio gek to react to epic the musical

cade-carter

Guys... you can assume that zoro/sanji/luffy are always using haki luffy hit caesar when there was no black coloring. Unless they tell us they didnt use haki, its always haki

Maryam Ali

I fully agree with you on Zoro, I try to understand why people like him so much since he's such a popular character so I watch some character analyses on youtube, and they do bring up some interesting angles/possible depth to him. He's still... the least interesting strawhat in my personal opinion though, and honestly I don't even enjoy his fights. Whenever they come up, I know exactly how its going to go and I barely care.

Tony

People cannot make their mind up when it comes to Zoro. Yall hear talks about Zoro not having characters development when Oda makes him more serious in the post timeskip only to then say things like " oh I liked him before, when he was less serious " 👀🤦🏻‍♂️

Murasaki

I never knew that being serious is a bad thing

Janice W

Crazy intro🤣🤣 Carter's pretty accurate in the way the story's being told. The pre-time skip is in large part establishing the strawhats with arcs themselves being mainly based around their backstories. Not to say we won't get these types of moments anymore, but I do think it's intentionally more spaced out for now. Yes, the strawhats separating for two years was to help their physical strength to be able to survive in the new world, but it was basically the biggest teambuilding/trust exercise ever. Someone could have decided to never come back, but they all did. Being apart for two years was probably the one of the biggest character arcs for all of them. And so since their characters and relationships have been set up (we're talking 500 eps worth of content), it makes sense to move into more story heavy themes while including things that they've learned during their time together and time apart. Zoro telling Luffy to lock in, Nami forgiving/not hating Jimbei/fishmen, Nami wanting to save the children cause it reminds her of Bellemere, a way more lowkey example is Robin constantly smiling now cause she feels safe with the SHs

Alexander

Subconsciously he's seen it b4 lol

charlie

this isn’t even close to being true you’re talking out of your ass

HeavenlyR

"I love what they've been doing with Sanji" and hes just been showing Nami's boobs the whole arc hmm

Sophia

Cannon I think something that no one's pointed out is that the one pace might be making these issues you're seeing with Zoro worse. Your take on Zoro being more serious is correct and very valid, though I don't think that it came out of no where since Zoro (as the rock of the crew) carries the weight of their failure the heaviest. HOWEVER, there are quite a few little character moments and interactions that the one pace leaves out. They're not important but most of them are the type of stuff that you guys say you miss from pre-ts. For example: when Luffy and Robin wanted Usopp and Zoro to carry them across, Usopp instantly starts screaming "You can't be serious, like we'd ever agree to that, right Zoro?" and it pans over to Zoro who is already stretching to do exactly that because "If half the water is boiling and half is frozen then it should even out in there somewhere."

Sophia

Btw I still think the one pace is so worth it and you'd have an overall worse experience if you watched it the normal way, just remember that you are not seeing every moment that these characters have and the things that are most likely to get left out are the unserious moments

TrueCrisp

im getting tired of all the running in one piece its all they do every arc bro lmao

Kurofi

I think the change in Zoro and the whole crew for that matter is meant to illustrate to us how serious the new world is and how their defeat on sabaody + the two years apart with training changed them. I don't think Zoro has been diminished to just an "aura farming" character but more so someone who trained under mihawk and got more "serious" now (him telling Luffy to lock in as a great example). Plus he has always been the anchor for the crew. I can understand you not liking the direction so far though, Cannon.

EmlovesOP

I think it’s okay to feel tht way but honestly i completely understand oda direction with zoro nothing a joke anymore in the new world. Yall just have no idea whats to come because so much ground is being covered. At the same time oda puts in comedic moments. All i say he locks in when needs to

Idrklmaao

Dude I 100% agree post timeskip zoro pmo

Cannon Andrus

With Haki dude like Luffy uses both at the same time all the time

Murasaki

Btw I love the outro that yall tried to connect lore pieces.

JoyBoy

Luffy confirmed that only haki users in his crew at this point is him zoro and sanji

Sara ˚˖𓍢ִ໋❀

Well, Zoro did train under Mihawk (very serious person) for 2 years + takes the crew's sufferings personally and that contributes to his seriousness. He, I think most out of all of the crew, sees how dangerous the New World is. Zoro is a huge factor in what keeps the crew locked the heck in 💀. He gets some good moments in Wano and Egghead. But also One Pace cuts quite a few scenes that adds flavor to Zoro. I'm not a fan of One Pace, but that's just me, if it's your cup of tea then that's good. But yea, I personally love Zoro for his seriousness, dry humor (post time skip), and subtle expressions. For me he's my #2 XD

Dasha

Yeah no one said she can use haki

Nick K

The One Pace episode they watched cut down that encounter so you really only see the end after Zoro cut him, which I think made it far less memorable for the Geks. It's not even a long encounter, but they got only end of the climax.

Nick K

Just a reminder that the One Pace episode you guys watched that covered Zoro fighting Hordy cut a two minute encounter into just the last seconds. You didn't even get to see Zoro confidently strike down Hordy in the water, just the after shot once he was cut... that was definitely the most recent time his stocks jumped, but guys were robbed of the hype

Sara ˚˖𓍢ִ໋❀

I personally love his dry humor but he was able to be more lighthearted pre time skip. Now, they're fighting Emperor's daily 💀

Daveeed

You guys are seriously underestimating Vergo. The guy fractured Sanji's leg and hauled ass to the SAD room, he's a locked in menace.

DonDuh103

Zoros one of my favorites characters but I agree I wish Zoro would feel more involved the fact that he’s second to Luffy🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Den Wolf

I think it would not work even with haki. Haki allows the parts covered with it to hit the logia, it does not work like seastone where if it touches logia their entire body becomes tangible.

Den Wolf

I like how Zoro has become. He is more mature and if you notice, be acts a bit more like Hawkeye. That is just character development from all of his experiences. He also still has plenty of goofy moments, the are just easily overlooked.

mina

its quite obvious zoros never done a money spread, he has no balenciaga no supreme no rick owens hes fraudulent! 😂😂

kuza

smh this twitter/tiktok ass zoro take

Tj Etgen

Haven't seen anyone mention it, but Counter shock is a defibrillator. Law is a surgeon and surgeons use things like that in their operating rooms.

kuza

talking like the dragon was a threat 😭

kuza

not involved how?

kuza

pmo is insane

kuza

i agree with carters take on it for sure

kuza

boring is insane to me i swr yall just get this same take from tiktok comments

kuza

hows cannon gonna shut down jack right away just for actually bringing up valid points from an argument cannon brought up 😭😭

DonDuh103

First starters more dialogue that includes Zoro more then just the edge lord cool guy

kuza

that vergo kick was nasty 😭 the animation this batch kept randomly turning up at times

Seb

holy crap i want them to know everything so bad 😭

kuza

diminishing him to "edge lord cool guy" says enough for me

DonDuh103

Hey at the moment of the story that how it is. Since post time skip he’s been captured like 3 times and knocked out by snow monkeys🤦‍♂️. Kiemno had to put out fire that supposedly Zoro can’t 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ Zoro needs to take his words to heart and get serious.

kuza

so wrong

kuza

i remember what carters saying , back then you said u imagined kaido as gyarados 😭😭

DonDuh103

So are you basically telling Geks nothing good happens with Zoro for 400 episodes?

DonDuh103

Which part? These things did happen in the story. Also again in this moment of the story Zoro really is just a side character. It is what it is.

DonDuh103

Same I want him to be my MC😭😭

kuza

labeled zoro as "edge lord" cmon bro u are chatting

Daniella

Zoro has definitely changed the most personality-wise (i miss his laugh 🥲) but like ppl said in the comments he understands the seriousness of the new world. He even had to swallow his pride to ask his "enemy" to help him train, because just like the rest of the straw hats he doesn't want to go through another sabaody situation again. He's willing to do whatever it takes to be strong for himself and his captain. Zoro can also gauge how strong an oppenent is and i saw him not wanting to take down the dragon as a more comedic moment - cause he was tired from running lol. Carter's point was also spot on, Law is now planning to take down a Yonko with Luffy which will seriously shake up the pirate world, we sadly don't have time to have more consistent character moments like in pre-ts. The moments will be there of course, just more subtle from now on. Great intro discussion though :)

Rayanh Shequinah Nansha

The fact that I’ve heard and read your “unpopular opinions” multiple times on multiple platforms since starting One Piece already shows I’m not wrong. And you don’t have to be offended by my “lol”. They simply mean I’m amused at the thought that anyone believes that people are afraid to say this, especially while behind a keyboard. Fans, whether Sanji’s or Zoro’s or just One Piece’s, count among those people.

McT

Cannon’s on point about Zoro and I honestly think a lot of the excuses in the comments are just cope (besides the ones agreeing with Carter that the Strawhats just aren’t gonna be as focused on due to the expanding world)

DonDuh103

I also pointed out some other details that’s happened in the story since post time skip? You ain’t got nothing to say about those?

jrnoodles

Thanks Geks! Cannon chose blood in that intro

HeavenlyR

How silly Zoro was pre time-skip and how serious he is post time-skip are both over exaggerated heavily imo

KrispyKenny

that prob got spoiled to him in the breathtaking world of one piece vid, he just rewatched it with bradlynn

Jack

They just don’t know yet…

KrispyKenny

jack literally mentioned it last time he used it but somehow forgot this time lmao

Jack

Yeah it’s tough criticism because we finally see Zoro relax for a second and it’s now an issue lol

E

Yea to me he’s boring, all he does is sleep and act nonchalant until it’s time to fight. Also W shinji pfp

Milochocodrink (Zoro's wife)

McKay: "oda has not let me down". Is this mckay's admission that he loves buggy and syrup village

Jack

She can do anything she puts her imagination to

kuza

what do those details have to do with him being "edge lord cool guy" , you literally named things that are to do with strength/plot ? which not to mention hes done way more than the bs u named 😭

Isla

sometimes they got the craziest predictions

Chérie

I LOVE Zoro but please enlighten me on his character growth. For being second in command for over 1000 episodes, Oda made his characters dull & numerous other characters.

GreetswithJudgement

I'm going to break this down to you like this is your first encounter with someone on the internet who has a different opinion than yours. Your comment is wrong. That's a fact because you stated it as fact. It doesn't matter how many times you tell yourself that you're not wrong.. you would be wrong. All it takes is a simple edit to your own words. The greatest thing about this entire thing is you are responding to arguments I never made. I never said "everyone". So maybe beyond your extreme need to defend Zoro from Sanji clouded your reading clues. I'll give you a chance to read again and to listen to what Cannon said again. Hell, let me make this simple, plenty of people don't share unpopular opinions because they don't want the inevitable backlash. That's a fact. Then you pivoted to, "I've heard your opinion multiple times on multiple platforms." What a roundabout. Okay…..? That only proves the opinion exists, correct? It doesn't prove it's popular. I've heard people say Usopp should be captain, Nami is the strongest Straw Hat and Ace sucks. Does that mean others weren’t afraid to say it just because someone said it? Hearing an opinion repeatedly doesn't magically make it the majority opinion. Then there's the Sanji point, which honestly had nothing to do with anything. Still. We were talking about Zoro. Whether Sanji fans say it, Zoro fans say it, or Buggy fans say it doesn't answer the question of whether "Zoro is a boring, aura farming nonchalant character at the moment” is a popular opinion. That's just changing the subject. And here's the contradiction that stood out to me. You started with, "lol no one's afraid to say it." After I explained what I meant even though it was clear as vodka in a bottle, your defense became, "I've heard people say it multiple times." Those aren't the same argument. The existence of people saying something doesn't prove nobody else avoids saying it. You're trying to use a few examples to make a universal claim. Also, I wasn't offended by your "lol." You seem more interested in telling me how I feel rather than addressing what I actually wrote. If your argument needs me to be offended to work, it's probably not a very strong argument. At the end of the day, nothing you've said actually disproves my point: people absolutely hold back unpopular opinions because they don't want backlash. The fact that some people say them anyway doesn't somehow mean everyone does. And your “I’ve heard worse..” like good for you I guess. 😂 We can talk about Sanji and Zoro if you’d like. It seems to be on your mind. I too have heard worse about Levi. And Deku. And LeBron. And Kanye West. So there’s that. Unrelated? Who knows these things.

charlie

for one thing the burden is on you to prove he hasn't had the character growth if you're trying to make a counter claim against the story and why would I even engage with this comment when you clearly already have a negative bias against Zoro Oda and the story. Saying Zoro didn't have a good character moment when he bowed down to Mihawk and asked him for help or just the other episode when Zoro tells Luffy to get a grip this is the new world he was talking about himself this is proven through Sanji literally directly after saying he is so tough on himself or how about again in this arc when Zoro says they can rely on Sanji because he is there. go read another story cause you have the reading comprehension of a snail.

derick ako

Sanji was also very hurt from when nami was in his body and vergo still couldn’t even land a hit on him.

derick ako

Sanji was also already hurt why do people always forget that. I don't think vergo is ever beating sanji in a fight

derick ako

Sanji was already hurt before he fought vergo and bro still couldn't even land a hit. Where is all this vergo glaze coming from lol?

Milochocodrink (Zoro's wife)

I am a big fan of pre timeskip so I get where cannon and Carter are coming from ✌️. Love these deep thoughts from all of u!! I rmb being super shocked at this time when there were people who told me they hated pre TS one piece but rlly enjoyed post TS up to Punk hazard

Gilster

Law is actually so silly for going along with putting goat horns on these NPCs heads. They did not need that

Michael H

I actually totally understand where Cannon is coming from. Zoro PTS used to laugh and be goofy. I do miss that. He will always be badass, but I do miss his more expressive personality.

Chérie

First, I don't have a negative bias towards Oda. However, I do not see eye to eye with every take he has on his story. Over the years he himself said that he has fallen due to the pressure of constantly writing and had made many mistakes. Second, I said one of the least. I never said he didn't have any character growth. It's extremely subtle and leaves much to be desired. For being second in command and how much he is integrated into this whole story, his dialogue( most often are one liners) & the way his character has been portrayed is rather lacking. They stripped down his personality to make him fit the bad ass, stoic stereotypes and hardly get to see any other trait cuz of it. In Wano there was so many opportunities to develop his character & have a better focus on him but he was mostly side tracked and was used for epic moments. Third. Not every character needs to evolve. But at the least have a good consistent development. The way Oda keeps playing & switching up things even after 1000 mangas is leaving room to have more fleshed out characters which leads to more cliché stereotypic, repetitive scenes. Zoro is important to the story and has great Character moments but overall on having a growth arc into it itself after all this time is missing vitality thus lacklustre. I find Pre ts One Piece shonen manga most consistent in its characters compared to post.

charlie

so you're just upset because you had expectations and they weren't met got it

Nick K

I'm sure/hope you'll get this said to you elsewhere but you guys CANNOT watch One Piece Heroines for several hundred more episodes because it has a pretty big spoiler throughout the episode

Chérie

Dude. Are you okay?

DonDuh103

There two different points. My first was the fact he’s line are him just being edge lord cool guy instead of pre time skip where zoro was very insightful like Alabasta threw Water 7. Where now he say get serious to Luffy cause this is the new world but doesn’t make sense since he’s been captured multiple times and been knocked multiple times. Get serious is cool dialogue from Zoro but is frustrating when there both getting beat when it definitely feels like they shouldn’t. Me calling Zoro edge cool guy is ironically a joke cause hes not at the moment of the story, the writing try’s to portray Zoro as ELCG but he’s all talk no bite right now unfortunately.

professional chatter

Safaricat

forreal!! Zoro, Luffy, and Sanji can't do everything and don't want to have to do everything. Everyone on the crew has to be trusted to hold their own and work together.

DonDuh103

True. It’s fun talking to people in the comments is it not.

Safaricat

I get what Carter is saying about Monster Point but at the same time Chopper isn't just sacrificing his sanity it was so uncontrollable he could have died. The first time i saw him resort to that i couldn't help but cry because he was hurting himseslf and coudn't stop. At least Hulk is in control sure Bruce might not be but Hulk was able to still make choices to keep them alive. Monster Point was just out of control rampaging until his body gave out or he was taken down.

JTUltima

Yeah this wouldn’t work even IF she did have haki since only the parts the hards are touching would become tangible

Musoko

And we can thank The Cherished One for that 🌋🌋🌋🌋

zoro's enma

I'm not bashing your take Cannon but I think it is kinda unfair to say zoro has become more serious when they just came back from a two year break after his entire crew almost died. Zoro was always serious but before sabaody they didn't realize how easy it was for them to lose their lives so I think it makes perfectly sense for Zoro to be the way he is. Also using the case of dragon as him not doing anything is kinda unfair when that's a situation where he doesn't need to help. You think if it was someone stronger than the dragon where he knew the others cant take hed just sitt still? Idk kinda an unfair take imo but you are valid to your opinion!

biscuit man

saying zoro a hypoctie for telling luffy to lock in btw which was a good zoro moment LMFAO just stop

Zess

I mean hes not wrong lol it is funny to say that and then literally go right into a gag not being serious right after.

Carter D. Andrus

I know but that’s kind of my point personally. I think it’s more interesting when it has consequences like that and makes the power worth the price, gives it more gravity when he uses it

Sara ˚˖𓍢ִ໋❀

What I'm saying is there are more of these "good moments" in Wano and Egghead. But I honestly think Zoro, especially without the One Pace, is fine. I think he has dry humor and I still laugh tbh

Grady

One pace has saved face for sanji for sure 😂if you guys watched fishman island naturally you’d know the pain

SSana

unpopular opinion but I fully have the same opinion of Zoro. I still love him, but when I rewatch pre time skip he's just so much more 'chalant', he smiles and jokes around.. My personal take is that he's going through his young adult emo phase (like Harry Potter and spiderman lol)

Safaricat

yeah i feel that. His biggest power is his brain though so i like he's more in control of monster point so he can use all that extra strength wisely. With great power comes great responsibility.

roczilla_2000

So impressed with how far you guys have come! Keep it up!!!

Jonas Teigen

I love Sanji, but yeah, Vergo would destroy Sanji if he went all out.

Johnny Joestar ✰ ྀིྀི

Are you guys gonna watch the one piece heroines episode it’s a spinoff based on the one piece heroines novel.

Douglas Vasconcelos

As a non anime watcher, i rembember getting too frustate with exactly what cannon feels with some things in one piece. Like zoro beeing just a npc in majority of last 4 arc, we can feel the same about all crew, but this arc change everything, thats here they will going to feel more pleasure watching the crew evolving. Trust me, the show will pay off this slow fucking pace in the first 500 ep!!

Kayanolive

Has spoilers so not yet

Dobriv

Vergo wasnt using haki yet and he's vice admiral, sanding is not on that level yet.

Zaraiz Khan

hindsight merchant is such a goated term lmfao, always makes me laugh

ahmad

Sanji already implied that he'd lose to Vergo if they kept fighting, it was in the scene afterwards running away with the marines

귤🍊

fluff ☁️

prigumon

nah he was funny asf

prigumon

i wouldn’t consider monet a hear me out, she’s just hot

StanleyMurkle

I like the changes to post ts zoro cause he was always one of the most mature straw hats so him not joking around or laughing as much isn’t rlly a problem cause the rest of the crew is always fukn around, it’s good to have one member of the crew locked in almost all the time

StanleyMurkle

Also ab the scene where zoro was chilling while kinemon and the others fought the dragon, the show prolly played that scene out that way to highlight kinemons grudge against dragons and u could also interpret that scene as zoro being confident kinemon and the crew could take down the dragon w out his help

StanleyMurkle

Usopp post ts pisses me off how are you on an island where almost everything could kill you constantly for two years and he’s basically the same just a little ripped and still scared of everything

Bradyy

Trust in Oda

sil 🧸ྀི

putting vergo law and smoker in one room ooof... oda u did good thank you

Szonin

There might be bigger future moments but I just wanna point out that "Nothing Happened" is still one of the highest rated episodes of One Piece.

euno

Great point!

april 🍏

Cannon I get what you're saying, but Zoro is one of the OG nonchalant anime bros. He is a pioneer of the trope. This is his realm lol. I do miss seeing more personality from him but with the whole dragon situation, I just see that as Zoro letting the crew handle the small guys. We don't see it often but there is still a chain of command in the Strawhats and the lock in was for the big leagues.

seen

its just a dragon, if zoro locked in, what would be the result of the others🥲

1way

Peak

Saint

i mean sanji v vergo and law v vergo are like different on all legs.. and i love how y'all are conveniently forgetting Sanji almost got his legs broken lmaooo but obvi the fight of law v vergo has a lot more going on than just the fact that law doesnt have his heart, but also clearly there are unbalanced dynamics between vergo and law too

Saint

you need to calm down bro. give it a rest

Saint

like he wasnt THAT silly. they treating him like he was usopp. and even now they hate usopp cuz he never wises up. so lose-lose

Liza

Different says on whatever it maybe about OP, most of the times I get the perspective so, I'm happy to listen and move along. Also, I lowkey really like these two episodes, with Vergo versus Law & Smoker / Sanji with G5 / Luffy in the dumpster with a dragon scenes. Pacing and art style is pretty good.

Liza

Your guys guesses are somewhat near or on point, I feel like Jack 👀🤷‍♀️

Becca Davidson

Continuing the binge to Dressrosa 🖤🖤🖤

Den

No one agrees with you lol

Den

They are using haki despite not showing the black covering. Black is just specific application of haki. It's not necessarily to show if haki is on or off.
