Honestly, Rukia's ice sword powers may be even cooler (pun intended) than Toshiro's, and I think it's important to clarify that she's not using hado spells here, it's her zanpakuto's different battle stances or as she calls it 'dances'. I don't know why they decided not to translate this part in the subtitles

this is not a spoiler. i think because of ikkaku, you guys think everyone has a bankai. but bleach has told you guys several times that achieving bankai is a huge deal amongst shinigamis. if rukia did have a bankai, byakuya wouldn't have held her low rank position (they mentioned first time when arrancars first appeared). just wanted to tell you so you don't get your hopes high. if someone out of expectation does have it... it will be a good surprise :)

Side quests aren't inherently bad if it develops the characters, the plot, etc. In this case rukia and espada nr 9 is good, really good with the future scenes for her development. Chad and uryu not so much, it's there for a reason, but compared to what we accomplish with rukia and other future characters it's very minimal

That is not true. You are misunderstanding what the guys were saying. They dislike the comedic moments thrown in. And TYBW 100% has those. The whole series has comedic moments thrown in because Kubo likes to add those types of things.

TYBW is perfect through and through. Not a single wasted moment, not a single bad episode. The slow and overuse of comedic moments in this arc are def due to the show catching up to the manga and the studio needing to slow down so they didn’t fully catch up.

For the Geks who keep asking for Rukia's Bankai, as a general rule of thumb only the Captains have Bankai, I wouldn't automatically expect the Lieutenants to have Bankai. Rukia is a lieutenant. Renji and Ikkaku were special cases but Bankai is a captain level ability, and even then like already stated in the anime you have to get used to using it. Also, Rukia wasn't using spells or Kido lol, all of that is her Shikai ability. She controls ice/snow.

We still in the mud with the useless fodder battles but things should pick up soon, only 2 episodes per drop for early Hueco Mundo is brutal. TYBW is 52-53 episodes of nothing but movie quality heat, not a single episode of filler. Straight to the point with the story and the action, I like it that way. Pacing kind of feels like AOT, Solo Leveling or JJK.

I don't think they think everyone has a Bankai. It's just that generally in anime they introduce something and makes a lot of claims about how rare that thing is, just for that to be a common thing among most if not all of the main characters some episodes later. So I would say it's a fair assumption to expect Rukia and others to eventually learn Bankai. But I do think it's kinda spoiiery to tell them not to expect something. If you have watched the rest of the show, that is. I haven't, so i can't tell if this is a misdirect. Anyway, not a big deal, since you only confirmed that the show is consistent with the bankais.

Rukia is not a lieutenant. She is specifically unseated (so perhaps even lower than 20th seat as Maki Maki is titled 20th Seat but Rukia never mentions her seat, therefore has none). It explains it a bit more earlier in the story in the manga but not quite yet in the anime (for some reason) so that's all I'll say on the matter.

It depends there's thousand or more shinigamis, not counting regular spirits, so having a bankai is rare. If we count only important named characters then it's more common, but even so not by much. 12 captains + 12 lieuntanents + the main 5 + extras like ganju kukaku other seated officerd not 2° in command like rukia the two with captain ukitake, yumichika and ikkaku hanataro, urahara, ... It's around 38 characters, give or take. Of those 37 we have 16 who have bankai. The captains minus Zaraki Ichigo, renji ikkaku and urahara

"PLACEHOLDERS" like mckay pointed out aren't necessarily a bad thing. Depends on the execution. Im SS the mission was to save rukia from the execution, before we do that we fight a lot of enemies. In SS it's better because we learn about the world, develop characters (not just our but also the enemies) and get big discoveries. Ichigo vs Ikkaku is a good example of how to do it well. We learn about ichigo's training, how urahara teaches, that he was a captain in the past we see more shikai abilities which were very few up until that point. Basically it does a lot. This recent fight with ichigo is similar bit imo a bit worse. We learn lore about the privaron and how they used to be former espadas Ichigo creates a bond with the opponent, hes memorable by the way he fights and by his speech, nino, so we don't easily forget about it We see more about his mask. Imo its a bit weak in conparison with ikkaku and it has the downside of the comedy being very hit or miss and breaking the momentum of the fight. It's the better fight of the three initial ones, ishida and chad. But still weak In future arcs well have fights like this that are MUCH better, the 4 pillars iykyk

to answer McKay's question.... yes. There are the people who only like Nel and then there's me and some others who love the 4 of them Nel, Dondochakka, Pesche, and Bawabawa. I commented on the last video and said Dondochakka is my king!! they are my favorite part of this whole arc if i'm being honest. just like Yachiru was one of my favorite parts of Soul Society. i love me a random chaotic character that doesn't fit the vibe of the situation.

I’m sure you have but all I’m saying is literally when they first jump into hueco mundo a bunch comments talked about how the next batch episodes will be slow and not good, and in the intro of the next reaction, you guys mentioned it and had no problem with people telling you that ahead of time, which skews your sentiment towards the arc. Especially when those are people that have seen the show guaranteed and can provide hindsight, as opposed to the character thing where you don’t know for sure and just have to assume the worst, which I think is fine, you can never tell people’s intentions truly just from words on a screen. Maybe you’ve said it a few times early on in the show and I missed it, but I think it’s weird to not put as much emphasis on the arc thing, if we’re doing this “hindsight crackdown”, cause it seems to be a little skewed. Idk, maybe im dumb and you’ve said a hundred times in this show. Ik you talk about it in general at the start here about characters, but if you’re saying no to certain things and yes to others it just seems weird.

The Hueco Mundo Arc is my favorite arc. That being said it does suffer from early 2000's anime nonsense. I would kill for a remake of just this arc. It's the only one that really suffers from this, which sucks because the characters are awesome, the designs are amazing and the fights are cool when it's not dragged out for 5 episodes.

@corneseph rukia is not a lieutenant, but its been stated that byakuya has had a hand in keeping her from a seated position cuz he doesnt want her in harms way - it was observed that its thought she could rank 3rd seat or higher in previous episodes. so no, not lieutenant but also def not maki maki or 20th or anything either, lol
