This show is introspective, not grimdark. I can definitely feel the pessimism at this point in the series but I promise it's not all doom and gloom.

I get what cannon is trying to say but there isn’t a world where humanity would try to wait something like this out, especially given how easily and without care they kill humans from the start, like yeah you could wait till they died but would you risk the lives of people you knew under those odds?? Heck no especially if it’s unsure on their lifespan especially with the control they have over the body

Seemed like Cannon was just saying eventually they'd die out without reproducing, so even if they were rampaging, human civilization would survive and look back at it the same way we do the bubonic plague or any other natural disaster that comes and goes.

I loved episode 20, but I feel it could've been planned a bit better. Uragami should've only helped identify the parasites once they were past the screening tech (if they were jumbled up, at least). First, having a backup screen would help. Also, couldn't gases or nonlethal weapons like beanbag shotguns be helpful? I imagine these would affect humans and parasites differently, while being less lethal than regular shotgun rounds to the chest lol. Gas might cause panic, though, at least if the entire building is gassed. I wonder if a significant electric shock would still impact the rest of the body and prevent it from moving for a parasite. I don't see why not. Regardless, it totally makes sense how the situation could become messy quickly. Edit: It does seem like at least some of the parasites don't react to getting shot in a normal way, so nonlethal damage could help identify them before making a kill shot. The task force's priority is more on the elimination of the parasites rather than the preservation of civilians; maybe the ideas I'm presenting are adding too many variables to the table for them to deem it worth the risk.

Erm, holy seeds of discord... that was definitely a deep dive at the end. I may be dealing with heat stroke, but the intellectual pearls have been caste; and I am nothing but a swine hunting for truffles of philosophical truth. Before we dissect, I'm assuming a Peter Tingle is Carter's spider sense, right..? *inserts Anakin and Padame meme*. Anyho. I'm inclined to agree with Cannon, that the parasytes would likely see us as a valuable resource to be maintained, not eliminated. They're essentially on par with vampires, with the expection that they seemingly can't increase their ranks. Either way, this show is more impactful on rewatch. Grateful for the big brain Geks, as always 💪🏽😎🏆

I havent been watching anything with yall since Sherlock, but now I've started rewatching One Piece on here as well, starting with Marineford (which ive already finished). Think I will skip through most of the episodes from her on though since youve started Dressrosa now which is one of my favourite arcs. So much peak!

ok last week I wanted to say something that may anger some people (HxH fans) but I thought it'd be better to wait until after Tamura's death... so you know how in HxH, specifically Chimera Ant (slight spoilers for some themes in that arc) people always say "Meruem found his humanity while Gon lost his", I think Shinichi and Tamura are a WAY better version of that parallel, sure Gon and Meruem may be a cooler version but writing wise I think Shinichi and Tamura clear easily, I think using them as a writing device the show really dives into what it means to be a "human" and I believe that at the end of the day the answer is simply "compassion", the ability to feel for other humans is what makes us human, I think that's why we tend to call people like murderers and r*p*sts "monsters" because without that compassion for your fellow man we can't even see them as human anymore I've always loved the irony that a show named "Parasyte" is at it's core more of a story about humanity

Waiting them out is definitely a possibility, the amount of parasites isn't enough to affect the human population. They kill for food they aren't out here just slaughtering hordes of people. Tamura said she's killed 38 people and taking into account she got pregnant and birthed a child its been about 9 months, that's only like 4 people a month. If we assume the average parasite eats twice as many people as her, even if there were 10,000 parasites in Japan it would take over a year to even get too 100k deaths. Even if we want to get crazy and further multiply the kill total by 10 that's still only a million in a year. Their impact on the population is basically insignificant. They aren't actually a threat to humanity, we just don't want to be prey to anything understandably so.

If the parasytes were worldwide or just many in number, they could definitely take over the world. The mayor was proof that some are able to infiltrate politics and could get leadership positions. Maybe they couldn't actually control the world but it would be like the feeding grounds they already had set up but on a much bigger scale. Maybe like the vampires in Blade

I kind of agree with Cannon as well, though the biggest problem is the scale/number of parasytes. The spores (parasites) outbreak is global, they mentioned the USA having parasytes and we could assume every country is pretty much affected due to the initial airborne spread. So the number of parasytes could be in the millions, which hinders the 'wait it out' strategy.

I will say there called parasites so I would think they need humans as a host and since they think logically they wouldn’t kill us off. I think they would just blend in or maybe start Domesticating humans like cows if anything but not go extinct.
