Parasyte is such an interesting ride, it really has you asking some hard questions by the end about how humans fit into the world and nature. Having no natural predators humans have changed the world so much. Its a little scary to think what the world will look like in 200 years with pollution if things dont change. Psycho-pass is a underrated banger if you want something in a similar vein as Parasyte genre wise . I know you guys would love it. Has some amazing characters, banger music, and the animation/art style is clean.

Love the shows you guys have been watching so far on the Juicy tier, and with this show it's so consistently good throughout all episodes. And I really like the at times almost flippant nature of Shinichi, going back and forth with his struggles regarding parasytes, humanity and morality. I recommend the Apothecary Diaries and the Monogatari Series, both would be interesting tonal shifts and different kinds of shows than what you've watch thus far on your anime journey.

I swear people who love Mushoku Tensei watched a different show than me. It would be fine if he started out as a bad person and then was challenged by the story and other characters, but instead he's reincarnated into a world where pedophilia and sexual degeneracy is commonplace and is rarely, if ever, frowned upon. He's never punished for his actions and is instead constantly rewarded for stuff like sexually assaulting children or, spoiler, cheating on his pregnant wife. After cheating the narrative literally bends over backwards to justify why CHEATING ON HIS PREGNANT WIFE is actually a good thing somehow?? God forbid he ever gets punished for doing something bad maybe then he'd actually have to reflect and grow as a person but no, he's a terrible person at the beginning of the series and a terrible person at the end of season 2 which was when I finally gave up on him actually becoming a better person like was promised to me by fans of the show. Thats not even taking into account his willing participation in the slave trade? The only time any characters seriously called him out on something and without immediately backtracking was because he had a defeatist attitude and was depressed? Far from his primary character flaw, but i guess its enough to trick people into thinking there's actually positive character development happening while side stepping the main issue (he's a sexual predetor/pedophile) entirely. At least the animation and music is good, so, if you completely turn your brain off, you may be able to get a Solo Leveling style enjoyment out of it.

*SPOILER WARNING* A person after my own heart lol agreed on literally every single point and your own reply. I felt betrayed by the narrative and themes that were promised lol the fans were definitely overselling a point that the story clearly never cares to tackle. He became a better son with confidence, not taking them for granted anymore. But his greatest sin (jerking off to a video of his own niece he recorded in the bathroom while skipping his mothers funeral to do so) was never addressed, and even worse, rewarded to continue that path of degeneracy and perversion against literal children in the fantasy world. But its ok now, because hes attractive and powerful now and is from a great family. Groomed 2 child brides, and cheated on one of them while they were pregnant with the demon loli, and somehow the wife he gained through cheating is the least problematic of the bunch since shes of a similar age to his actual self, not just his body. The fantasy element of the show and world building are good, and the adaptation is about as good as any adaptation could be. Truly a passion project made with a lot of love. But thats where any positives for Mushoku ends, because it fails every single theme it tries to present, a story of "redemption". It's also really hard to get behind a story about a pedophile who stays a pedophile, but gets a pass now because his body is younger, which is just deception lol if he wasnt formerly a pedophile, I could give him a pass on keeping his memories and living his new life. But that first part cant be ignored lol Rezero is the story that tackles these themes and actually pulls them off, while the mc isnt a fucking pedophile formerly or currently lol truly 10/10 seasons, the peak of the isekai genre to me personally.

I really enjoyed the overall theme of this show. The finale definitely left a lot of things open ended, but at least Shinichi has a chance of having a relatively normal human life. I think the show definitely makes you question how humans are as a species and the heavy effect we have on the environment. Just like the parasites adapted to coexist with humans for survival humans too have adapted for our own survival. At the end are humans the real monsters all along dun dun dun. Anyways, I really enjoyed the show and how it explored a lot of the dark themes. I see a lot of people recommending Mushoku Tensei. I wonder if this is just recency bias cause the new season just came out and ended recently. My vote is still for Cowboy Bebop or Monster. I think it would be awesome to revisit some of the older "classics". To Be Hero X is also a great recent anime. It is a Chinese Anime though and I prefer the Mandarin Dub over the Japanese Dub.

Show comment: My favorite thing about Parasyte is how confidently and consistently it stuck to its portrayal of beings with an utterly alien psychology. Still it manages to make standout characters (Migi, Tamura) who never break from that premise and still touch our sensibilities as HUMAN viewers; and the other parasytes all presented other character outcomes that were still perfectly in line with that premise even if not as fleshed out. New show suggestions: Mushoku Tensei, as a piece of media, is genuinely promising DESPITE all of the problematic discourse it sparks; and I also have plenty of my own criticisms to levy on it. I'm genuinely curious to see what the Geks would have to say on it. Dorohedoro, is the best experience I have ever had reading a manga, and I say this being as deep into the manga/anime sphere as someone can be. I have not fully explored the anime adaption but I've heard it's quality is heartful and passionate at least. I HIGHLY reccomend this one, it's on Netflix. PING PONG THE ANIMATION: Is one of my favorite pieces of media ever, and its certainly a more niche pick on par with those gems like Orb: On the Movements of The Earth. As the title suggests it's about the sport of table tennis but that really serves as a vehicle to explore the psychological and philosophical themes through it's characters. IT'S PEAK, TRULY. Take this comment as you will. I love you, Geks.

Carter's take on Eva is based. The story is incredibly confusing, but when you rewatch it multiple times and really take the time to understand the story, you can see how amazing it is. There's no better representation of depression and loneliness in all of anime. I'd recommend watching some of the video essays on Eva on YouTube, they're goated.

It's a story of a deeply flawed and disgusting person going on a journey of personal growth and accountability. He's similar to two of my favorite characters, Thorfinn and Shinji. Thorfinn is a mass murderer, and Shinji is a deeply flawed person who sexually assaults an unconscious friend. All these characters are flawed, but the point of their stories is that changing your life is hard and time-consuming, but taking steps forward to change your life is always possible.

I'm not going to pretend like it isn't really good with a lot of aspects, and I can see it being something dark that gets explored well with good enough writing, but holy shit that scene at the end of s1 was genuinely so gross I had to take a long break and almost fully dropped it there and then. Came back after hearing s2 was good and made myself get through p1, but really didn't think it was that good so far. Not necessarily meaning to put it down, but there's a reason so many people hate it that goes beyond just the usual bs fandom wars, and I think it would take a lot to make it acceptable for the geks. Also, I'm assuming you didn't have as visceral a reaction as I did, but hopefully you can understand why many people do, so with that in mind do you think it's worth me continuing? I want to say Re:zero for the next Juicy Tier show but part of me thinks Re:zero should be on all tiers, not only is it a really popular show (especially since season 4) it's also just quite long sitting at 85 episodes by the end of the current cour, I feel like juicy tier shows have always been like shorter shows you's can get through reasonably quick... BUT not like I'd complain about you's watching my 2nd favourite anime of all time, I just feel there might be some backlash from the non juicies, Re:zero fans can be pretty nasty SOOO onto my main point I think you's should watch Apothecary Diaries, I will never stop recommending this show :) and I think you's should NOT watch Mushoku Tensei... I actually really like the show but it is WEIRD, I'm not going to sugarcoat it it has genuine p*dophilia and incest (and polygamy if you're against that) and it does not shy away from sexualizing it's characters, although if you's can look past all that then by all means go for it lol, it has a great story and genuinely 10/10 production

I think its strange that people are telling you guys Mushoku Tensei is really good but you shouldn't watch it because they assume you wont like it because of some scenes that might make you uncomfortable. Yes there are weird scenes and sexualized characters but those shouldn't deter you from giving this anime a chance because it has so much more to it like the world building, characters, animation, music and it is a highly rated anime for a reason. Give it a chance for the polls or pick it up because your interested and determine if you want to continue it after a few episodes. I personally love darker anime like Parasyte and AoT and other people have already recommended these but Made in Abyss, RE:Zero, Devilman Crybaby, and Psycho Pass are some others I also highly recommend.

Goodness people and Mushoku Tensei never ends. Its fiction. Fiction should be allowed to explore uncomfortable, immoral, and controversial subjects. People are free to dislike those subjects or criticize how they're portrayed. This discussion always becomes unproductive when people assume that depicting something is the same as endorsing it, or that enjoying a story means supporting every action shown within it. People need to stop pushing their own viewing tolerances on everyone else and either just vote for it or not if its on the poll. Let them react and discuss as they do.
