I was waiting the whole week for this, with some insane anticipation. You talked about clues hinting at what happened to Subaru the first time, there’s no issue with highlighting this since it doesn’t give anything away. It’s just a great little attention to detail that becomes more meaningful later. So here is what Betty said right before she expelled Subaru and he went to sleep: 24:46 — Betty: “This has nothing to do with Betty, I suppose…” I can’t really elaborate on that right now without getting into spoilers, but this is good foreshadowing. Also there is a reason why Emilia doesn't react much to Subaru's shenanigans and cringe/akward at times speech , because of course there is 😂 ..... 57:56 : I also get what Carter is saying here. That’s why having people who know the story point out difficult details can be really valuable with this show, because it allows you to appreciate things a lot more. Especially since you don’t pause, and I don’t want you to, but yeah, the writing in Re:0 can be pretty complex to fully pick up on during a first-time watch. And it’s not like pointing out certain details diminishes the rewatch value either, because there are so many smaller details that you can keep noticing across multiple rewatches. There are honestly virtually endless things to pick up on, especially when you also take the cut content into account.

I get it why you dont wan to do 2 dc episodes but from the length perspective only the first 2 ep are slightly longer from what i rember and the its back to normal 20ish minute normal ep and like 45ish dc ep. Ultimately its your choice and Iam still happy that you are even watching this show its just that the pacing and the multiple cliffhangers might start to get on your nerves a little. Either way Im here for these reactions

The twins are then present when he wakes up again. the reset point is him waking up with the twins and beatirce remembers because it actually happened, and if u asked anyone in the mansion they would say "yeah he got knocked out by beatrice."

Jack not understanding the reset point is so frustrating. It's so unbelievably simple. He woke up twice in the mansion. The reset point is when he woke up the second time. There's no reason for that. That is the end of the explanation. There's no deeper reasoning behind any of it, you're thinking too damn hard lol. There are a lot of things to think about and theorize about in this show, and this just isn't one of those things. It wasnt some mystery, it was cut and dry and immediately and completely explained lol. Leave your brain power for theorizing on things that are actually mysteries. There's no mystery here to even think about, they fully explain what happened immediately in the same scene where it's happening lmao.

BTW all the ending songs for season 1 and 2 are basically spoiler-free. They mostly just consist of still images, but all the songs for RE:Zero are AMAZING. OP1 is mostly spoiler-free, you could maybe draw some conclusion on whose team some people end up on...but prolly after this arc it'll be completely safe. The rest of the OPs I think are spoiler-ish. I mean as spoiler as op/eds get I guess...you won't really understand anything by seeing them w/o context.

There will always be people in comments of reacts asking for more output. Always always always. It's only one season of this and then it's normal episode lengths, and if they weren't watching the director's cut version and instead doing 3 normal episodes then they'd be missing the added scenes from director's cut and people would complain about that too. I think the gek viewers will survive this decision just fine

Fun IMPORTANT Fact! Last episode it was said that Reinhard’s sword can only be unsheathed against those it deems worthy. The sword couldn’t be unsheathed by Gut Killer Girl but when Reinhard was introduced to Subaru, his sword managed to be unsheathed?!?! Does this mean Reinhard knows Subaru has some God Like power? No it means his sword is sexist. His sword doesn’t believe women can be strong but is scared of Subaru who conveniently supports and loves all women. They have all the answers, so they forget how confusing the show can be when you're seeing it for the first time. Everyone was confused or unsure about things at some point while watching Re: Zero, and it's supposed to be that way, btw I love the theory crafting at the end, its fun.

Respectfully, pointing out these things, giving clues or hints, may eliminate or lessen their ability to freely consider and theorycraft things in the story going forward. From what I've seen the Geks generelly seem to prefer a completely blind watch. They can correct me but I don't think they're the type of reactors that want clues or have subtle things highlighted, as they like the mystery and having to figure things out themselves.

That's also why there are people liking my comment, it's actually good if the Geks kept this in mind for latter. Subaru's voice actor is Yusuke Kobayashi, with this being by far his most well known role, pretty sure he's not in any other shows you've watched so far (at least not as a major character). Personally I think he's the most talented voice actor in anime, and it's not close. The show wouldn't be nearly as good without his performances, it's actually crazy.

You lowkey need that kind of mentality if you want to understand some of the important depth in this show. Jack just has to redirect this kind of motivation into other parts of the episodes. But that comes down to being very observant or being lucky. And it's fine if one doesn't on a first watch but it can be interesting to try since you get lots of payoff if you do it mutliple times. Basically what I'm trying to say is that I like the energy. He should write things in the whiteboard more often too I loved that.

People are really overcomplicating what the director's cut is. It's just the Blu-ray version of the anime with two episodes combined into each (excluding the first, cause the original runtime of that was ~50m). If you want to watch 3, you can just stop in the middle of a director's cut episode when the episode title credit thing appears for a couple of seconds, cause that indicates the OG episode split.

@Jack Here's the series of events, in case you still need it! So, let's start with the night before - Subaru gets his gut sliced open and is healed by Emelia, who then takes him to Roswald mansion. The next morning, Subaru wakes up by himself. He exits his room and enters Betty's infinite hallway - this is a spell designed to keep him from snooping around, because Roswald doesn't know if he's a spy. Eventually Subaru finds Betty and talks to her. She ends up stealing his mana and he passes out from the exhaustion. Most likely, what happens here is that Betty calls on the maids and they proceed to carry him back to the bed he was in earlier. [The Save Point Happens Here] Subaru wakes up a few hours later to Rem and Ram checking up on him. Everything after this point is currently unsaved. Betty always knows Subaru because his first interaction with her always happens before the Save Point. I hope this helps! I would explain more, but I don't want to spoil anything past the save point by accident.

Attempting to cook is important, even if some of the food ends up burnt. Only way to improve is by trying. Getting a few things wrong is part of the fun. I agree with Mackay that it must be crazy knowing the feeling of having your arm chopped off. The way I think about Subaru remembering the feeling of these deaths is by comparing it to those cases in which people wake up during surgery, paralyzed but still able to feel the pain of the procedure. People can develop long lasting mental problems, such as depression due to the extreme pain, so I would guess the same would be true for a guy who gets violently killed and then comes back to life. I feel that the show, at least so far, is focusing more on the loss of connection with other people though. but it makes sense that it would be a terrible physical experience too.

Re:Zero is an absolute masterpiece of psychological horror and world-building, and watching his grueling "Return by Death" cycles uncut is a total rollercoaster.

Glad you're thinking in depth with the show Jack! To clear any confusion with the specific point you were referring to, there is no deep "hidden" thing there. It's just that he wakes up, enters the looping hallway from betty's spell (to keep him contained since they find him sus), finds her room, and then she sucks out his mana. I don't think it's specifically said but we can assume he got back to the bed because she either called the maids or the maids found him and took him there. Waking up with the maids there is his respawn point, so all betty remembers from that point forward is their initial scene where she took his mana and pushed him out.

I’ve been enjoying your reactions so much that I actually went and joined the Juicy Tier lol. One thing I think you’re missing out on a little, though, is some of the Japanese cultural context. Isekai anime often get a lot of their humor and charm from the protagonist bringing things from their old world into the new one, and since the protagonist is usually Japanese, there are often little references that pretty much every Japanese viewer would immediately recognize. For example, those moves Subaru did in front of Emilia were from “Radio Taiso,” a super well-known morning exercise routine that basically everyone in Japan grows up with. And “The moon is beautiful, isn’t it?” is famously associated in Japan with an indirect way of saying “I love you.” Subaru especially loves throwing out little Japanese references like that without explaining any of them, which makes it even funnier lol. So whenever he does something that seems oddly specific or random, there’s a decent chance there’s some Japanese cultural context behind it 😂

How did you misunderstand what I was saying? I get that the normal episodes aren't available on crunchyroll, but that doesn't change the fact that every director's cut episode is just 2 normal episodes cleanly combined, indicated by a title card halfway through. They could watch 3 based on that and label the episodes normally (this one would be 1x4 and 1x5 for example). I don't really care though, they can do it however, I just wanted to mention it because people are grossly overcomplicating something that is very simple. Like seriously, why would anyone say to find the OG version instead of just dividing the director's cut in half where episodes are clearly split lol?

Spoiler : The reason why it’s not a clue to anything is because Betty said : « This has nothing to do with Betty » because she saw the traces of a curse on him and didn’t inform him about it, now tell me how this is a clue to anything ? Did they know about the concept of a curse that sucks mana until it kills a person to begin to understand what she meant by that ? Or are you telling me that they are going to presuppose its existence ? When it could be anything else and then use an extremely hypothetical possibility to presuppose that Betty is the only person who can see it ? And it’s not like they know what curses are, so who is even to say that curses can be “seen”, based on that sentence alone, how are they going to know that Betty can see curses anyway when all of the other characters saw Subaru and didn’t say anything about it ? The Geks haven’t talked once about the possibility of a curse in their discussion, since that’s so out there, they talked about poison, which was the very reasonable assumption giving that Subaru seemed sick and seemed dizzy, nauseous and vomiting. They can understand absolutely nothing with that sentence alone it’s just some good foreshadowing that means NOTHING right now. Great foreshadowing can be done while also giving literally 0 clue. And sometimes Re:0 does it in which case, it’s not an issue to point it out if you understand the underlying logic behind it and how it doesn’t give off as I said the tiniest bit. There are times people and reactors even notice that line this very episode and what does it do for them ? Nothing, it doesn’t ruin anything it just gives them food for thought. So yeah please do tell me how this a clue to anything….
