Daddys Home? Carter isnt here

Also, there's another interpretation of Keicho's last words to Okuyasu. "You've always held me back" might mean "you've always kept me from going too far" rather than "you've always kept me from reaching my fullest potential." And, given everything we know about Keicho and how he interacts with Okuyasu, this is probably the correct interpretation. Keicho is too battered to be openly affectionate to Okuyasu, so he could only give him this parting sentiment in a backhanded way.

2026-10-12 01:00 It never made sense to me why they didn't just use The Hand on their dad lol Classic Araki. I still love this arc though 🤣

Never even realised until this rewatch but is Red Hot Chilli Pepper's VA the same as Bartolomeo from One Piece? They sound really similar

Mack

Okuyasu is a funny lad

I've always loved how completely unphased Jotaro is when being threatened on the phone lol. Dude just keeps calmly asking his questions 🗿

Nanami's Wife

Off topic but have you guys seen that Naruto is coming back? And is focusing on the time before Boruto?? I know at least McKay has seen it most likely

Jonas Teigen

I like that the billions and trillions written on their clothes have meaning, because they used to be broke and in debt. And I love how Araki flipped this plot point around, he cooked.

Hobatty

yees, I think that's the way I've always interpreted what he meant. Keicho is the type of character who has a lot of layers, so I think it's pretty easy to read it in a negative tone, but I don't think that was the intention.

Spoons

Josuke cannot heal Okuyuasu’s dad because his mutated state is not an injury or a broken object. Josuke’s power is to PHYSICALLY fix things that are broken. So he cannot cure diseases.

Benio

Early peak 4 upload. Let's gooooooo

alexander rios

Wouldn’t just teleport him somewhere not actually kill him?

Mansur

Early.. sure.. they missed two uploads last week

Navri

This part probably has the best group in the show maybe even better than Stardust Crusaders. They genuinely feel like homies for life

spoopyjhope

Ngl *spoilers* These first couple of episodes are rough, at least for me. Theyre pretty boring which was why I initially disliked part 4 up until we meet Kira, but now that I'm rewatching I am able to appreciate certain characters a bit more

Shiki

that's just Okuyasu's way of saying it literally erases things from existence

Shiki

tbh i have a hard time picking who my favorite JoJo villain is Dio/Pt4/Pt6 are all goated. And when pt 7 is finished airing, he's going to be a major contender too 😭

Luker

happy bday king

Alex Ramirez

Music reference in this episode: The mysterious antagonist's stand name is Red Hot Chilli Peppers which is a reference to the band of the same name. P.S. in Part 4 every character's name has some meaning that either explains their personality or role in the story. I'm not a scholar in Japanese so I cant really tell you all of them, but I do know the main antagonist's name meaning and it's my favorite.

Kurofi

Red Hot Chili Pepper!

Kurofi

I agree with those picks! Exact same order for me too hahaha Dio Pt 4 Pt 6 And then Pt 7

This is Daniel

And then there were three... thanks for sharing your insights, I can concur that part 4's antagonist is noteworthy. Really looking forward to unravelling more of the story with you 😊

jennybunnybean

I was really happy when I noticed last ep you caught "Worse Company" actually being "Bad Company", as you guys have the 'censored' version of the show. So the subtitles are using non-copyrighted names. Please keep doing this. If you guys aren't going to switch sites to watch the uncensored version, when ever they introduce a stand, listen to what the voice actors are truly saying. They will always use the English names. It's the true names Araki meant for them. As the stand you met during the end of this ep, "Chili Pepper", is actually "Red Hot Chili Pepper" :D Love the reactions though! You guys are by far my favorite reactors to this show! (Besides Otaku Steph, love her sm too)

Daniel Stears

19: 10 : Tough love, in some way the reason he held him back is because he cares about him in the first place, so at least there is that.

peachy af

za hando got carter..........

Sg

Josuke’s mom has got it going on!

Noggen

This somehow implies that part 5's cast is worse than part 3's

peachy af

i am 三十三 years old......

peachy af

it's between p4, 6, and dio for me. it really gets ranked on recency bias, it's hard to choose!

peachy af

oh i found these episodes set the tone really nicely! i thought they were fun :)

Navri

I dont think they Are bad in any means Its just that the Crusaders feel more like a family than part 5 group. Especialy the JoJo of part 5 doesnt really have a powerful connection to anyone maybe besides 1 person. But i agree that they have good chemistry just not as good as the Crusaders.

Enma

Hmm quite interesting how when Carter goes away, the uploads the past few days have been earlier in the day...curious

thorfinn

happy birthdayyyy

Shiki

Golden Wind has the best ensemble imo. All Pt. 5 members feel like a real family, have more screen time as a whole and are given a lot more situations to work together as an entire team

monsterhead

They’re the worst of the part but they help establish morioh as its own character rather than just a town where the main characters will fight the main villain

Kurofi

I thought the same thing lmao

Sasha (Yare Yare Daze)

There's some weird translations this season. I clearly heard Zapdos say "Red Hot" but the translation was Chili Pepper. There was another in previous episode which I can't remember. Oh wait it was One Piece🤣

P5’s cast is good, but it’s nowhere near P3’s, where you really feel like they’re comrades bonding over a long journey. The part is literally named after them, because that’s its whole theme. SPOILERS Even if P5’s cast is great on paper, it lacks a few things that would put it above P3. The relationships (like Narancia-Fugo or Abbacchio-Giorno) are never really developed the way P3 develops Iggy-Polnareff or Avdol-Polnareff. We’re shown that Narancia and Fugo have some sort of connection, but it never leads anywhere. Same for Abbacchio and Giorno: Abbacchio just ends up not caring about Giorno’s presence, and their feud never gets the kind of satisfying conclusion Avdol and Polnareff’s did. Trish’s development is great, but it doesn’t come close to Iggy’s. Both only start becoming part of the group near the end, but the impact Iggy leaves, especially in his fight, is far greater and makes for one of the most poignant scenes in anime history. Even though the cast is often together, most of that time is exposition, and most of the fights focus on Mista, Giorno and Bruno. Abbacchio and Fugo get practically nothing. Trish gets one fight, and Narancia handles his two fights practically on his own. That’s why they don’t feel as tight-knit as the Stardust Crusaders. Fugo becoming irrelevant after he leaves is probably the part’s biggest issue, though it’s an obvious one. It wouldn’t have bothered me that much if he had done anything of importance before leaving, but he didn’t, so it feels really weird. Narancia's sudden death is also just weird. I'm ok with it but it also kinda feels like Araki just didn't want him around anymore for the final act. Not nearly as good as the deaths in P3. Overall, there’s also a lack of bro moments and funny, laid-back scenes where the group just chills. P5 is structured like a movie: once shit hits the fan, it keeps going relentlessly. No episodes or moments are there to show the group’s dynamic. Past the initial introductions, every moment of their journey is urgent, intense and focused on the action (mostly involving Mista, Giorno and/or Bruno) Compare that to P3, where even Kakyoin and Avdol each get multiple fights on their own, and Iggy, the one with the fewest fights, gets some of the part’s strongest moments in two glorious fights. Almost all of them are paired up with another member at some point (Iggy being the big exception, but for a reason, since his unwillingness to help the group matters to the plot). The laid-back bro moments in P3 are endless, with whole episodes dedicated to them. It’s often people’s favorite part for comedy, and it definitely helps make the group feel so close. As I said, most pairings in P5 involve Bruno, Mista and Giorno. Those three have a great dynamic, but that’s only half the group. The others are either left out or off on their own.

atomicdog

I don't really like the inclusion of Angelo as a villain personally (I think he's just a bit too much), but other than that I've always been shocked when I go back to part 4 how strong I find it to start :o

Shiki

I love OtakuSteph!! Her JoJo observations are so peak 😭

Shiki

Pt 4 villain hands down the funniest though for sure

arnold

that’s how i always interpreted it bc he was oldschool

arnold

same until it started to get good

arnold

nah they just kinda made it seem he was op and then they had to explain certain things we thought we knew from part 3 but it’s cool cause he’s actually really cool

Bracc

I mean Jotaro is pretty op. Jotaros stated strength is unreal with star platinum. However they make it as if he’s not as strong as stated cause realistically he would one shot every enemy. The in universe explanation is that he’s a precision stand and he probably holds back but this still has its errors as there would be no reason to hold back in later events.

RED HOT CHILI PEPPER VS BAD COMPANY. Btw Keicho was 18 & Okuyasu is 15. Ep Commentary “This is the first episode featuring Red Hot Chili Pepper. Since there aren’t many action scenes, we made sure to up the quality of each one to make up for it. At the end of the episode, Keicho’s corpse is discovered laying on top of the power lines. In fact, this is one of the only episodes in Part 4 where we can clearly see those utility poles, and the aforementioned power lines are actually close to the Sun Mart featured in the first episode. I bet you didn’t even notice that, though it would have been really impressive if you did. In principle, this is the sort of detail only the animation team would know (laughs). We also depicted the Nijimura Family’s past, a family that was hit hard by the asset price bubble collapse of the late 1980's. Keicho and Okuyasu’s father is particularly adorable; he's just trying his best to recreate his family photo. You would think Keicho would have noticed this, but if you think about it, he's still young, isn't he? I wonder what he wanted to do after high school. It’s really interesting to me, I would have liked to know him better.” - Naokatsu Tsuda

Zess

oh no they didnt hear the words red hot, the show is immediately ruined lol are you watching the show for them to go "oh I've heard of that band before" and then never say anything about it again? lol

#1diavolofan

Regardless if it would work or not I don’t think Keicho wanted Okuyasu to carry the burden of sliming their father out 😞

Zess

Its DMCA censorship from official streaming sites so they dont have to worry about paying the actual bands lol which admittedly I think is dumb they can even do that when the music isnt being played or using their likeness.

Zess

I think Carter is the main editor, but Jack does it too when needed. Could be others though, just remember reading something like a year ago that gave me that impression.

bri

Her JoJo subs are also amazing, both uncensored and just really well translated

jennybunnybean

Agreed! I wish they'd try, but if they want to keep watching on the site / program (what they use idk) then that's fine. I do think it makes the show way less fun to get these weird non-copyright names, as long as they just listen to the audio instead the subtitles that's fine as well :)

Zess

@Mansur, no they didnt? lol any episode that was skipped on the day was watched later. We are not in episode debt currently, we're completely on schedule.

When McKay suggested throwing Koichi's stand in there like a grenade 💀💀 It would be like throwing Koichi himself in there but he weighs a ton and is completely paralysed 😭😭

We didn’t miss any uploads…? lol 3 episodes per week whether it’s 2 in 1 or 1 each time

Apparently they do. At least the stand user does, but I’m assuming the stand and user have the same va

harp

there’s something about watching it with these guys that makes me enjoy it more. when we were in part 3 i skipped ahead and when i got up to part 4 i stopped at episode 7 i think cuz i was struggling to get through but now i’m really enjoying it again lmfaooo

TheDirkiestDigg

I really like these first episodes. They do a good job of setting up our cast, and this arc they just finished is a really strong starting arc to the part.

TheDirkiestDigg

I would say that out of what we have seen, Jotaro isn't really washed. He never trained with his time stop, but he does still have Star Platinum which carried him through Part 3 without time stop anyways.

TheDirkiestDigg

I think the Part 3 cast is fine. They are great and it's sad to seem them go, but Kakyoin and Avdol get nothing. Kakyoin gets Tower of Gray and Death 13. Other than that, he is just there to help them win either against D'arby the Gamer or Dio with the hint. Avdol does even less on his own. His only solo fights are against Jotaro and Polnareff. Everything else he is just there for support. In terms of bonding moments, there are some solid ones, but Kakyoin gets very few, mainly having some light banter with Jotaro once or twice, and his handshake with Polnareff. Avdol gets moments with Joseph and Polnareff, but that's it. SPOILERS As for Part 5, obviously they don't get a ton of interactions together, but I feel that how they are written emphasizes the fact that they have had this bond that's already been forged. I do actually like Fugo leaving and not coming back. It obviously sucks for Fugo's character, but I like that it actually gives that whole scene weight. If they all ended up going, it woulda just felt like a cliche and predictable scene. Abbacchio's main dynamic is with Giorno, which I think is interesting and develops subtley, and ends with him leaving a clue that only Giorno could find on his deathbed. Neither group has particularly strong dynamics, but it does help that Part 5's cast are individually strong characters by themselves. I will agree with Narancia's death though. Arguably the worst main character death in the series. Outta nowhere, not given a fantastic send off, and teed up in a over the top and cliche way with him randomly talking about going home and getting pizza lmao.

TheDirkiestDigg

He would also need to do it over and over again in rapid succession before he starts regenerating too. Which potentially could make it impossible depending on how fast he can regenerate.

Safaricat

it's always freaky to me to think that polnareff or kakyoin could have become that if the fleshbuds wereen't removed from their heads. Hol Horse was smart to not have one and just became DIOs pawn out of fear.

JeanJean

What you are saying is incomplete SPOILERS Kakyoin gets 2 fights on his own, but he's also the one to assist Polnareff in his battle against J Geil, being the one who finds the winning move he is detrimental to the fight, more than Polnareff himself. He helps against wheel of fortune, which is a battle involving the whole group, and also against steely dan is he detrimental, another fight involving the whole group. He's also the first one to figure out how The Sun worked (since he laughed first) and to explain it to Joseph. And as you've said, even though he doesn't win, he gets his fight against D'Arby and then he's the one to find out Dio's power. He has presence and relevance. In terms of moments where you get to see how close they've become, you have most post-fight moments in all of the episodes. There's the moment Kakyoin interacts with Polnareff in the car in his fight against J Geil, against N'Doul on the ground right before being attacked, the little interactions with Jotaro he often has, the moment he returns to the gang where everyone is happy to see him, the moment they arrive in Egypt at the end of the first half, the moment in the submarine where they are happy to be all together again. And just he comedic tidbits involving the whole group in general, something a little too rare in part 5 imo. Avdol gets his fight against Polnareff, Jotaro, Mariah and Judgement. 4 fights where he is a key player. He's also slightly assisting the group against N'Doul. Plot wise he's the wise man who finds where the fly is from, he finds the beggar, finds the submarine and even captured Iggy. This guy does stuff. Even when he isn't, his presence is often clearly felt, like when he's spectating Jotaro's fight against D'Arby, where he reaffirms his absolute faith in Jotaro and puts his life in his hands. In comparison to other previous and future secondary characters, even if they were written out at some point, they honestly get a lot of shit done. In comparison, Caesar had his fight against Waamu and that's it. He didn't even win. Fugo as I've said gets practically nothing, he only slightly assists in the man in the mirror, and that's barely an assist since he becomes more of the problem himself. His fight clearly serves as an introduction to his stand too, but sadly it just doesn't go anywhere. I personally do have an issue with the way he leaves the gang. If we're arguing as to what gang feels the most like a family, in that regard this departure affects that argument. He left because the group didn't mean as much to him as his career and the perspective of facing an almost certain death. Stardust Crusaders did the "risking your life for free" though, pure volunteering. And here Fugo leaves the gang as he achieved nothing in the story. Story wise it also just feels weird and it completely feels like he was just written out for some other reason. He breaks the rule of Chekhov's gun stating you shouldn't add anything useless to your story. Fugo was definitely just a great mistake imo. Araki gave him too specific of a purpose, and then he just cancels that because he didn't feel like it. At least with Abacchio you could argue that he helped to find the boss's identity. But otherwise as I've said he gets like 2 assist fights. Otherwise he is mainly irrelevant. His feud with Giorno also ends up being practically non-existing after man in the mirror. There's one or two references to it after that but that's it. It doesn't come to the kind of insane development we see Polnareff and Iggy / Avdol's come to. A whole episode was dedicated to it in SC. Narancia and Fugo had some kind of dynamic, but the two of them never get a fight together and the whole thing is just never really expanded upon.

Holy goated comment

Miitei

Man, i cant wait until they meet the main villain!!

Miitei

Part 4 Part 6 Dio Part 5 Kars I know Part 7 will be a strong contender tho

DonDuh103

That looked absolutely painful, being pulled into the outlet😂😂😂😂

DonDuh103

When did Big Bird become a stand😂😂

DonDuh103

Dio turned Okuyasu father into a walking booger🤮🤮

atomicdog

This. It's a shame that this isn't more explicitly stated in this episode because I think its really common for people to be confused as to why Josuke can't help the Nijimuras' dad. He can fix a broken bone with a touch but he can't eliminate a virus or reverse a mutation.

atomicdog

One of my favorite interpretations of this episode is that Keicho always had access to a stand that could kill his father, Okuyasu's The Hand. It's a stand that erases anything, it could erase their father but Keicho just couldn't ask his brother to do something like that. Keicho felt that he had committed acts that he could never be redeemed from, but like he would protect his little brother from his father's beatings he wanted to protect him from having to do the things he had done. His last act was not only to save his brother from being killed by a stand user HE had created with his evil acts, but also to say 'You've always held me back.' I think his last words are meant to communicate two things; he's saying you always stopped me from being as awful as I could have been and he's distancing his brother from his crimes, taking full responsibility for the extent of the evil he committed (Something Dio could never have done). I personally love Okuyasu and even Keicho, I think they are so tragic and a great way of showing the extent of the harm Dio caused on the world. We see all of Dio's actions through the lens of the Joestar family but there were soo many more victims. People manipulated and killed, families torn apart, and not to mention the people that Dio no doubt drank from as a vampire. Dio is an awful, selfish, petty man just like his father. He harmed so many people who have had to live on past him and continue to grapple with his actions.
