I stopped donating everything except old electronics to Goodwill about 10 years ago. They shred and recycled old TVs, computers, tablets, etc. Everything else goes to Salvation Army or the local hospital auxiliary thrift shop. I've followed Goodwill's shady practices for a long time. Corporate greed knows no bounds.

Oh don't get me started on the fkn PPP loans. What a racket. I knew Goodwill was bad news (ha) but I was shocked at what a bubble I'm in here in WA state because when you said PA has a minimum wage of SEVEN SOMETHING AN HOUR I was like ...holy shit. I mean, I'm old and stuff but I do pay attention to minimum wage...just forget how much worse it is in other places. (Spoiler alert: the minimum wage here is like $16 and it's still not enough and also BUSINESSES STILL EXIST HERE, wow)

My mom also performed her court ordered community service through our local goodwill in the early 00’s. So Goodwill got paid by the government to monitor my mom’s work and made money off her actual labor.

I am from New Hampshire and I applied to Goodwill five years ago and I believe their starting rate was 10 or $11. I’m gonna assume that it’s only gone up a dollar or two since then.

I’m also in NH and very recently the Concord Goodwill on Loudon Rd had literal dollar tree candles for over $2. They had the stickers on them from the dollar store. 😀

PPE loans are such a fucking joke.....my husband's company got over 2 million in loans that were forgiven, and they didn't ever stop working, so they got 2million in free money from the government, and I also know people who brag about how they lied about having a business and got tens of thousands of dollars.

I used to work as a regional manager for a goodwill warehouse. You'd be shocked if you found out what happens to a majority of the stuff that's donated. Alo on safety equipment.. goodwill wouldn't provide safety equipment for any of my employees. I paid out of my.own pocket to buy gloves, safety gaps sea and respirators for my staff... it's a horrible place and I have so many horror stories.

My younger brother is disabled and worked with state rehabilitation services for job placement. His caseworker would not ALLOW him to apply at Goodwill. If a Texas state caseworker says no, I feel like that’s an indicator on its own.

Raise the minimum wage! Im catching up on episodes. It took me a year to catch up to the episode with my shoutout. Great episode, where I live we have so many thrift shops and antique shops that goodwill doesnt get much inventory at all. One place probably gets 50% of clothes because they have those donation containers everywhere. It's so convenient before or after work I can put my donations in there. Why would I go to good will.
