Like many of us, Mr and Mrs Pearlmania have been staring at the slow drip of news wondering "IS IT ABOUT TO HAPPEN?" And while the food idiot, is just sitting there doom scrolling, Mrs. P has been preparing a special ice cream cake recipe that everyone can and will enjoy whenever the news finally reaches our feeds.

Here in California, I use my avocado knife every day. Williams Sonoma brand. It’s good quality. It’s perfect actually. It’s easier than knife and spoon and you waste less. The ones they sell at home goods and TJ Maxx are not quality.

This is how I found out that not all ice cream cakes have actual cake in them… Unfortunately, I’m not a connoisseur of ice cream cakes. My birthday is in November and I was always told that no one wanted ice cream cake in the winter. (But enough of my trauma🙃) The two ice cream cakes I’ve had and all of the ones that I’ve ever seen have been layered cake, ice cream, cake, and then covered in icing. How Mrs. P described the ice cream cake is how I always imagined they should be though. Now I’m curious what the “normal” ice cream cake is for others. I will definitely be making an ice cream cake for when “it happens”🎉

I enjoyed listening to this at work even though in the last 5 years I'm now allergic to cane sugar, dairy, and wheat. I was experimenting making my own ice cream with almond milk and coconut sugar, but now I can't have almonds either... I still gotta figure out what my celebration food will be. Unfortunately he will make it to 2026 so I guess I have a few months to plan.

Ever since my 19th or 20th birthday, any time my birthday falls on a Sunday, it's the same day as the Superbowl. As someone who's entire family does not give a flying fuck about football, I have a personal vendetta against whoever changed the week it falls on. Fuck that guy. I had Carvel ice cream cakes for my birthday every year until they were harder to fine. Used to have a Carvel shop in my hometown and picked out the base cake and my gel frosting picture from the binder of options. I didn't care that it was 10 degrees outside and snow on the ground. We were having ice cream cake at my party.

celiac who worked at a Carvel store for five years here (and misses it deeply but not the fuck ass owner) some fun facts 1 the crunchies are flying saucer wafers crushed up and mixed in a stand mixer with a giant can of magic shell which is why they never get soggy in the cake 2 if you want a great gluten free ice cream cake the best options I found for the center (I made a lot of testers lol) were glutino fake oreos or a quarter inch layer of rainbow sprinkles 3 tates gf cookies fit perfectly in the oreo rounder container to make ice cream sandwiches I used to make them for my mom and I in whatever flavor we wanted, talk about taking from the company lol
