Ok, but please come back to Kapoor v. Semple . I like a feud that produced art materials - and it is a very good black paint.

Semple only exists as an artist because he has Kapoor to be his villain. Now, Kapoor is still a piece of crap. He’s notoriously an asshole and difficult to work with as well as really weird about his art. However, he doesn’t own the rights to Vanta Black, and never has. VB is a pigment developed for military aircraft camouflage and the company that makes it gave Kapoor exclusive rights to use it because he was very popular at the time and it is very expensive and difficult to use. They didn’t want a thousand artists clamoring to get this pigment that requires a lab to apply to an art piece. All Kapoor really did was accept their offer and not say, “hey, what if we let a few other artists use this too?” Semple seized that moment to vilify Kapoor and launch his own pink and black pigments. Besides a few spats on Twitter where Semple always starts it, Kapoor doesn’t really interact with Semple. Semple had built his whole brand on trying to make it look like Kapoor is out to get him and ruin other people’s art.
