Roman Polanski is a scumbag in real life, he raped a 13 year old girl a few years after the Manson murders and fled the United States to France to avoid facing charges (because he was a French citizen & they don't extradite their citizens) and he's been there ever since. I think that's what Tarantino was referencing when the guy at the party said "one day he's going to fuck things up"

The main philosophy of the Manson family was to ignite a race war (Helter Skelter) between white people and black people because Charles thought black people were going to rise up against white people.
