A quick recap, since this has been going on a while: Ray was invited by The Leader of Animal Germany to come do his "racist German impression." He hired Todd to fly him over, and accidentally drank misleadingly-labeled meth coffee in the lavatory of Todd's airplane bathroom. He is now deeply distraught at the idea of being famous in Germany, and hijacking Todd's plane, ostensibly to fly home. Meanwhile, Todd is playing his wealthy cousin Jorg-Dieter for an infusion of family cash. Jorg-Dieter is in the middle of explaining a pill he's developing called "Mister Forever," which combines Rogaine, Ozempic, Viagra, and "Greek testosterone." It was also made clear that all squirrels fear asteroids. There!

And don't forget — the b-roll / "making-of" version of this strip posts two hours later in Tiers 2 & 3. Upgrade for a month for this and over 400 other upper-tier pieces!

I Solved The Holiday Shopping Problem

If you're having a hard time holiday shopping like I am, digital gifts are more of a thing now. Gift a subscription to the Patreon to a friend or loved one! It's dead easy: choose how many months you want to give, then get a link you can share with them. It won't auto-renew. This is an even better gift now that the archive is binge-able! (see below)

Read All Strips At Once

In case you missed it, I set up a Collection here in the Achewood Patreon called Read All Strips At Once. You can go in there and click straight through the archive, just like we used to in the old days, when the politicians' hair was brown and the burgers were turkey.

Bungus Bronbo

I always knew it would come to this.

Achewood

You foresaw what seems to be an impending but not guaranteed plane crash? I mean, checkhov's pistol, right

Achewood

Dude is soup up top, creamy in the noggin

Walter Biggins

I love how Roast Beef **immediately** knew what shit Ray has gotten himself into, and with whom. Old friends know each other’s shenanigans 🤣

Josh Egbert

I always forget Beef & Todd are tight. Of course he'd tell Beef about his airplane stash.

Stygian Gloom

Is Ray definitely going to die??

Walter Biggins

And that tossed-off line about Tinder is classic

Achewood

I suppose it's easy with these clowns. It's like, Occam's ...pachinko?

Achewood

They are brothers who know the low orbit.

Achewood

Yeah, Beef and Todd both know that trailer park life. Todd would've shown Beef around his stashes, and possibly even consulted with him on the Nespresso rig.

s b

pharmaceutical development is the domain of terminally odd gentlemen… in Animal Germany

Achewood

Find out next time! Or the time after that. Or in all of 2026. He's always giving Mother Death a fair shake at him.

GruntyGinMan

Talk about people who eat Nachos at every meal

Jacquelyn R Walters

In public and just giggled "OH shit!" out loud when I reached that last panel, damn you!

Achewood

Look how silly the long landing gear is too. That's my favorite part.

Achewood

Yes. Or cheddar popcorn from the bag as the whole meal, if cheese is tight.

Achewood

They invented a pill that makes one nut positive and one negative, so they stay as far apart as possible. It is now considered a fashionable look among the oldest money. EDIT Oh wait I got the nut science wrong. They're the same polarity.

Achewood

The most animal of yells, reverberates across the hilltops, birds shiver on their branch

Josh Egbert

Still not sure why Carol Burnett caught a stray there but I'm sure Ray has his reasons

Achewood

It's very autobiographical. I never caught the Carol Burnett hype, much the same as with seafood and rap music. I'm sure it's great to some people, but I am happy to leave it all at the grocery store. The rap music grocery store. (I do like NWA, I'm not totally an "out of touch square daddy")

NICHOLAS C GARNER

G'Bless this perfectly timed recap in the description coming precisely as I said out loud, in a coffee shop: "I've lost track of what we're up to here.".

emitydna

This is exactly why I treat voice commands on my phone the same as I would treat an unfamiliar dog.

Josh Egbert

Of course you aren't, as using the term out of touch daddy can attest

Achewood

This is why I'm always hesitant to do storylines on a weekly installment schedule. I love following a cockamamie idea, but it's a lot to ask of an audience, to keep this convoluted business front-of-mind for three months.

Achewood

You love them and give them a bath?

Achewood

What do the Swifties (all people under 30) call out-of-touch daddies? NormCore CringeGeeze?

NICHOLAS C GARNER

Please let this only encourage you: absolutely here for this cockamamie. I just needed that perfect recap.

Achewood

Recaps every week during a storyline strike me as a good idea, going forward. Thanks for raisin' this roof!

Bruce Wright

That angle of descent does not bode well for those on board

Ian Stewart

You always think you're being clever and nobody knows about your toilet methspresso rig... no, they know about your toilet methspresso rig

Achewood

We think we're such ciphers to everyone around us, but they know. They know about the one-hitter we keep in The Sun Also Rises. They know we used to get off to a Playboy mail-in subscription card in sixth grade. They know we eat a hamburger when on errands, even if it is not mealtime.

emitydna

I mostly ignore strange dogs but I guess I did not account for those with a more generous instinct when I made the comparison.

jordan b.

even in moments of grave danger and panic, Beef will never think in a normal font size.

Achewood

Some dogs just radiate peace and hygiene. Not many, and it's largely limited to Shiba Inu, but they're out there.

Achewood

This made me realize I didn't put a space between Toddogg and the "!," as I usually do with him, so perhaps this lack of space indicates his utter panic and desperation.

b.zap

mit ... guten nachrichten!

Achewood

What a face one must put on to act like a phone call from Beef would ever be good news

Crumbles

Well shit, now I want won tons.

Achewood

It is healthy to always want won tons. I got a won ton soup a couple weeks ago that had seaweed in it. I was so heartbroken. I had to rinse the won tons off for each bite.

Zen Window

panel nine: perfection panel twelve: invalidates the concept of perfection itself, because if it is better than a panel that is perfect, this entire conversation ceases to have meaning

Bungus Bronbo

To answer all of the above questions in no particular order, yes.

Bungus Bronbo

I learned to chuckle at imagining this comic as someone's first Achewood comic.

Julie (HiDeeHoGal)

Adding cackatoon to my vocabulary. I fear for everyone's safety. Even Todd's.

Asherdan

This strip almost has too much bananas in it. Almost.

Achewood

That is high praise indeed, thank you ZW

Achewood

Yeah, there's a reason the audience is small but dedicated.

Achewood

Let us know when you're able to use it out & about.

Achewood

It has all been building up to this. All these bananas are ripening at once.

haveacraigday

I’m glad that Roast Beef, while presumably still not a dude of noises, has moved beyond needing to be texted before each call

Achewood

Good point. Perhaps his spidey-sense about the call's timing told him something must be different about it. Like, normally he knows Ray is crushing California rolls at the bar at Haha Sushi at that time, and he would never call during that bliss.

The Good Poster

the act of washing dishes makes him dissociate so hard the phone anxiety doesn't even register

Achewood

Is washing dishes Beef’s only…happy place? The warm water, the manageable expectations, the knowable point of completion…

rickward

he’s gotta lose his ears to… diabetes? and have them replaced by sci-fi ears

rickward

I sure hope Ray survives and is able to get clean off toilet methspresso in time for Philippe’s next fifth birthday party. Also love Beef’s energy dome photo on Ray’s phone

2scrogz

Now imagine the nirvana of Beef washing dishes stoned on Golden Tabloid. The constant existential dread would be almost unnoticeable!

2scrogz

Sir, I regret to inform you that the Swifties have breached containment and are no longer under 30 years old, due to the way that Time is.

Josh Egbert

This is my opinion of mowing the lawn

Achewood

There has to be a term for people over 30 who listen to Taylor Swift songs, but I doubt it’s as gentle as “Swifty.”
