Any time there is a mass casualty event, hospitals will usually try to increase their stock of blood knowing they are likely to deplete their supply with all the patients coming in. That’s why Karev and Otis were donating blood. The guy in the investigation didn’t know what a pneumothorax is because he isn’t a doctor. He is Hospital Administrator on the Board of Directors. They can be Doctors, but don’t have to be. Many are just business professionals with degrees in Administration. As I said in previous comments, hospitals is the US are treated like a business. Yes, it was harsh to fire her, and of all the Invaders, she’s the one I liked the most. But, they are looking to get rid of some of these residents, they know they have to many and will likely have to cut others even though they haven’t made any mistakes. She was the first to give them an excuse. Wow, Cristina reammy showing some kindness and support for others, even an Invader. Very interesting episode.

Your mic is a little bit low compared to the show here. When there’s heavy background music (which there was quite a bit at the start of this episode) i couldn’t hear your comments at all and had to go back on the other track to hear it. Really interesting episode and a great way to introduce us more to some of the new characters I think. It’s quite easy for so many new characters to get lost in the shuffle so giving us this where we see the day from each of their point of view is very clever. Very harsh for her to be fired for what was I feel a very easy mistake to make. Webber was even about to say that it was an understandable mistake to make before he got stopped by the lawyers. But in a situation like this they need to be seen to have done something and she was very much a scapegoat. Derek was right though in what he was saying about the fact that it’s the fault of the whole system that caused this. The merger making it an overly competitive environment in an unhealthy way leading to the residents trying to outdo each other rather than working together.
