(True) Film Noir is not a genre where I shine, so I'll let others take this one. A shame too, I have been practicing my bullet format.

Chinatown. Chinatown. Chinatown. lol. (actually there are some great titles other people are writing, but The Maltese Falcon and Chinatown actually work together, right down to casting Maltese Falcon director John Huston in Chinatown, and Jack channeling Bogart. Might as well watch Chinatown while Maltese Falcon is fresh in mind. Both are AFI top-shelf titles, no worries there!

*Femme Fatale (2002) *Breathless (1960) *In a Lonely Place (1950) Brian De Palma's Femme Fatale is one the coolest neo-noir mysteries that keeps most first-timers guessing until the end. Godard's Breathless, starring Jean-Paul Belmondo channeling his inner Bogart, solidified the French New Wave, which started a couple of years earlier. Co-written by Godard, Truffaut and Chabrol, all film journalists turned directors from Cahiers du Cinema. Nicholas Ray's In a Lonely Place is another powerful Bogart performance and was cited by TCM's Eddie Muller as his favorite all-time Noir film.

Blade Runner? I have to assume you’ve already seen it. The version where Harrison Fords character narrates is so noir.

My favorite film from the period, and starring the great, Henry Fonda, has to be "The Grapes of Wrath" from 1940. Another great choice would be "The Ox Bow Incident". It also stars Henry Fonda, along with other great character actor's of the period. It is a western, and only an hour and fifteen minute's long. I would say it is comparable to the film you just watched, "12 Angry Men". To me it is about the human condition, and the choices we make. Thank you for asking our input.

I was wondering when you were going to do some silent Charles Chaplin movies, they're great, really funny. And easy to comment over, since is silent.

• Body Heat (1981) Body Heat (1981) is characterized as an American neo-noir erotic thriller inspired by a 1944 film and 1943 novel. Kathleen Turner received a [1] Golden Globe nomination for New Star of the Year in a Motion Picture; and [2] BAFTA nomination for Most Outstanding Newcomer to Leading Film Roles. AFI top 100 quotations all time (for a quote by the Kathleen Turner character). AFI top 100 passions all time

In addition to the Body Heat and Chinatown (both wonderful) which will win or come close to winning polls, there are several GREAT ones that never will including the sneakily excellent remake of Out of the Past, 1984's Against All Odds; Night Moves (1975); Mona Lisa (1986); A Simple Plan (1998); Cutter's Way (1981); Frantic (1988); Blowout (1981).
