I thought I would give everyone a heads-up in case you didn’t know that Apple has introduced an extra charge for Patreon subscriptions. This fee only applies if you subscribe using an Apple device. Make sure to sign up through a non-Apple device to avoid the extra cost! It’s wild they did this! But wanted to bring it to your attention!

Seems like everyone should just use the Web browser version of Patreon.

Ugh 🤦🏻‍♂️ (Not towards you, Ames, don’t worry lol)

Every religion asks for money. 😂🤷🏼‍♂️

Reggie

I am Apple-free!

Yeah this is fairly standard for any payments via Apple, they take a 30% cut and companies will often charge more to make up for it. Is always a good idea to subscribe from a web browser, including YouTube Premium, etc, 👍

Ron Fehr

Not applicable in my case, but thanks for the heads up.

Jeremy V.

How much is it gonna be more?

Jeremy V.

And is it for each reactor we support? Cause I support like a dozen.

Catchermag

MINE WENT UP 50% BECAUSE YOURE CANADIAN!!! 😳 Kidding

Before we go any further, we want to be crystal clear about one thing: Apple’s fee will not impact your existing members. It will only affect new memberships purchased in the iOS app from November onward. I watch you online as well as on my iOS app. So does this mean if I support a new reactor through the app I’ll get charged but if I do it online I won’t? Just trying to wrap my head around it.

And just when I was about to come back as a full member! I guess it’s a good thing I don’t go through the Apple Store for much of anything 😁

Yeah, I think I get it now. So the people who are directly affected by this are the creators. That 30% fee is being taken out of our monthly donations. So to offset the creators loss, Patreon is telling them to raise their prices to account for it. By the way, it only affects new supporters. But it also means if we add a new subscription 30% is taken out of what we donate. So our reactors aren’t getting the total support that we give them. And Apple gets that money instead. That’s a D🍆k move by apple…. So I’m guessing the move would be to delete the app and watch our creators through a web browser. Does that sound right or am I still missing something?

Jeremy V.

Because I want what I donate to go to my reactors. Without it getting all muddled up with Apple bullshit.

As a pc user, I won't be encountering this - but that's wack for any Apple people!
