Happy MONDAY!!

I've been wanting to do this ever since the sad news of Gene Hackman's passing. For this, I decided to pick a few films from the poll results, along with one of my personal picks. I hope you're as excited as I am!

My apologies for putting the AFI list on hold. I couldn’t fit Network in this week, and trust me, I'm really eager to watch it! Thanks so much for your patience. I thought Night Moves would be a great addition, especially since it's part of the Criterion Collection.

With April around the corner (my birthday month and also Ames' Movie-palooza month!), I'll be sharing some of the exciting things planned. Stay tuned!

Monday- TNG S1E10 HIDE AND Q

Tuesday- The Conversation (1974)

Wednesday- Hoosiers (1986)

Friday- Night Moves (1975)

I've seen everything already this week so DO NOT worry about spoilers :) have FUN chatting below! I haven't spoilt my feelings on these! Can you guess which I loved?

Holy shit! The Conversation and Night Moves in one week? Two absolute masterpieces of 70s paranoia and disillusionment. I was really hoping that Hackman's passing would push more people towards discovering Night Moves in particular, I think it's an incredibly undervalued movie. "I didn't solve anything. It just fell in on top of me," is one of my favourite Hackman deliveries.

Wade Wallenstein

Hooray for more TNG! Was hoping The Poseidon Adventure would show up but I guess not many here have seen it.

Ames! Love This! While "The French Connections" was a physical frenzy of action and chase, "The Conversation" is a masterwork that puts you inside the head of a deeply internalized character who is obsessed by sound with a big twist in the end. It's one of Francis Ford Coppola's best films and of Gene Hackman's best roles.

It's a trick question cos you loved them all, even Q. 😆 Gene is probably my fav actor if I had to pick only one and TNG is my fav show, so excited is an understatement. STOKED!

I was really hoping for Mississippi Burning, but these are good too.

MikeLL

Can't ever have to much Gene!

Delia P

Loose Cannons is a good Gene Hackman comedy

Happy Hanukkah

Night Moves featuring Gene Hackman who later appeared in Company Business alongside Mikhail Baryshnikov who starred in White Nights. I feel safe in assuming we shall soon get a reaction to White Nights, right? :-)

Oh my GOD! BRILLIANT choices!!!!!!! For me, it's great because I've only seen Night Moves a couple of times. All of the Hoosiers fans are going to be psyched. All of The Conversation fans will be psyched. And all of the Night Moves dudes! And YOU will be psyched! (or you already were!). Wow, so you already watched them?!!!!!! You saw "The Conversation"..... and you kept it a secret?!! Holy smokes, you're good!!!! !!!

Toc

.....and you got another Teri Garr performance!!!!! Also, now you gotta ask your mom about "The Conversation"! (Harrison!)

Jason Parker

Yes yes F yes!!!!!!! Thank you for picking Hoosiers! All timer and at a perfect time of the year. Cant wait for more TNG too. Let’s go!!!!!

Reggie

Yay!!! Hoosiers! One of the greatest sports movies ever made!

JM63

Congrats! Now you've finished Francis Ford Coppola's fantastic four flicks of the 70s! Also looking forward to watching Night Moves for the first time. Great effin' week!

AJ

Looking forward to watching The Conversation and Night Moves for the first time.

Like AJ -- I will be watching The Conversation and Night Moves for the first time. I've watched Hoosiers several times.

RFK Fan

Whoohoo! What fan of film isn’t excited about a Hackman collective? All solid choices including arguably the greatest sports movie ever made…

VivendoBem

I've got the vapors! I'm gonna need to sit down lest I faint. Gene was the GREATEST!

Thanks so much for all ur support everyone!!

This amazing week has three of the best Hackman films. The list of actors and directors that are a part of them outside of Hackman make the week even better. One day in the future I hope that a few others sneak in. Mississippi Burning and the Birdcage, two films that are total opposites, definitely should be seen in one’s lifetime.

So late to the game. Now I guess we'll have to have an Ice Man tribute week. Re-watch TOP GUN!
