She reveals nothing in the write-up! LOL. Brilliant. Classic, dare I say! :D Looking forward to watching this right now and laughing (or maybe not laughing!)......and for the record, my top vote this past week would have been for.....Night Of The Hunter (1955)! :P Let's get down to a c-l-a-s-s-i-c SNL-alumni movie, one of the earliest. Two of the original cast in one movie: Chevy Chase and Bill Murray! Bill replaced Chevy on SNL after the first season....and when Chevy came back to guest host, the two got into a fist fight!!! The one scene with them together was an improv, the only time they ever worked one-on-one together. The Blues Brothers, Airplane and Caddyshack all came out within a month of each other, a summer of comedy.....and Empire Strikes Back! And The Shining! When autumn came around, things got serious: Ordinary People, and three black & white movies, which threw everybody: Raging Bull, The Elephant Man and Stardust Memories. Around the same time, two great female-driven comedy "classics" came out: Private Benjamin and 9 To 5. Not the worst year ever!

Hilarious movie. Extra special to those of us that grew up golfing. LFG

Making of a Movie Star department: Rodney Dangerfield was a well known stand up comic at the time, well known if you watched TV variety shows and The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. After Caddyshack, Dangerfield was a movie star and made a string of wild comedies. I've heard that Bill Murray was a late addition to this movie and filmed all his scenes (except the one with Chevy Chase) separate from the rest of the cast. If this is true, he was one of the best add-ons ever!

Critics HATED this movie when it was released but it’s arguably the most loved comedy of my generation. The making of CADDYSHACK is even better! This was Harold Ramis first time directing and he became one of Hollywoods best comedic directors in the 90s.

Wade Wallenstein

Excellent film! This helped shape my sense of humor so I always gravitate to slapstick comedy and wacky films.

Teemu Laitinen

From Rodney you definitely have to check out Back to School (1986).

great reaction Ames! as always....hey if you haven't watched What About Bob?, that film is one of my FAVORITE Bill Murray flicks and I highly recommend it to you. Fun little fact: this is one of five films where Bill Murray's brother Brian has appeared on screen with him.....

Great movie Ames. One of my favorites.

It’s such a timeless movie, I can’t even count how many times I’ve seen it. It’s an effortless watch. These absurd comedies from the SNL alumni in the late 70’s and early 80’s just never get old. Meatballs, Blues Brothers, Stripes, Animal House, Vacation…..just goofs to get them in a movie and make some money. But I think that’s why they last. The legendary Ted Knight plays the judge. He famously played Ted Baxter on the Mary Tyler Moore show. Just a great character actor. Glad you enjoyed this! It 10000% is a classic.

Alan Jones

Ted Knight (Smails) hit comedy gold on the Mary Tyler Moore show in the 70s, as Ted Baxter, the news anchor for the local TV station. He was able to bring off a self-absorbed, ill-informed, overbearing ball of unjustified ego with such an endearing streak of insecurity just under the surface, you had to love the little zero of a man in spite of himself. Comedic genius, in the vein of Jim Parsons as Dr. Sheldon Cooper on The Big Bang Theory, another character you can't understand why you love so much. For those of us who knew Ted Knight as Ted Baxter, it was a pleasant surprise to go back to Psycho (1960) and spot his brief few seconds at the very end of the film, as the guard outside the room where the prisoner (I won't spoil who) is being held.

This film is notorious for getting out of control during filming. The young cast members spent a lot of time stoned and partying, and took golf carts for night time races across the course, driving one into the lake. It has been said that Sarah Holcomb, who played Maggie, had chronic substance abuse problems afterward. Rodney Dangerfield was a famous stand-up comic, but this was his first film. He became nervous and concerned that no one laughed during his scenes, until it was explained to him that if they laughed, it would spoil the take. And yes, the head caddy was Bill Murray's older brother, Brian Doyle Murray, who was also in "Scrooged", "Groundhog Day", "Ghostbusters 2", and many other films.

Thanks Ames! Great reaction! Yeah this is def an all timer for me. It’s in the whole “Ghostbusters” web. Directed by Harold Ramis RIP. Who was Egon in GB. Also starred with Murray in Stripes. In Caddyshack 2 which gets dogged a lot unfairly imo Dan aykroid plays the “karl replacement” so it all ties in together and the class difference is a central theme in that one too. Yes good catch too on Brian Murray Doyle as lead caddy who also plays with Murray in a lot of movies like Groundhog Day and GB 2. And Chevy in Christmas vacation. Thanks for doing the polls and listening to what you Patreons like. It’s what keeps me coming back for more. Going to watch TNG and Rocky 4 now! Ciao!

Been 2-3 decades since I did a full watch of this. Enjoyed the rewatch and your reaction (good outro). As you may know, Chevy Chase was known for clumsy stuff (physical humor) as a cast member on SNL.
