Hey Everyone! Whew.. what a week, I hope you all are doing well ❤️

I feel incredibly fortunate to be able to do this, watch movies, and share them with you. In a world where things can feel overwhelmingly heavy, movies are a gift. They take us away for a brief time... to space, the past, chocolate factories, or anywhere the imagination takes us. They give us a gentle reprieve, a place to laugh, cry and feel wonder.

I’m truly thankful for that. And grateful for all of you who join me here.❤️

TNG Tuesday - S3xE19 "Captain's Holiday" ooh-laa-laa

Wednesday - Stand by Me (1986) Tribute to the great Rob Reiner...R.I.P

Thursday - Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971) Poll winner #2

AFI Friday - #18 The General (1927)

Saturday - Christmas Live @ 1:00 pm PST/4 pm EST

Lots coming this week, and some more just in time for Christmas! I will send the live link on Saturday! I hope you can make it!

Love your write up above. Very much like Stand by Me. My kids when young were mesmerized by Willy Wonka. Captain's Holiday one of my favorite S3 episodes. So a good week for me. R.I.P. Rob Reiner.

Oh my god, what a week, brilliant. Jam-packed! I cannot even believe my eyes! Blown away!!! And psyched! Beautiful little write-up too....couldn't agree more. But hey....I'm already picking out what chocolate I'm going to have laying around because I learned the hard way never to watch Willy Wonka without some kind of treat or snack! :D. The General, holy smokes, I cannot frickin' wait!!!! Beyond psyched!! More candy for the eyes! And then the cherry on top, Stand By Me, the perfect tribute, the one he singled out as being his most personal, the one he'd want you to watch. These three movies completely show off the best of what movies can be. Brilliant. A total triple-threat. (Plus, what looks like a classic Star Trek!!!)

What an absolute gut-punch what happened to Reiner. It's nearly Robin Williams level of celebrity tragedy for me. ... To steer this back to movies, I feel like Reiner is weirdly underappreciated, even among movie watchers, especially for a director that has made some of the best movies of all time, and of such varying genres. And yes, "Stand by Me" is great. Willy Wonka is timeless, in part because of how magnetic Gene Wilder's performance is. The other reason are the songs, which people often know without even having seen the movie.

I’m still in shock from the Reiner family tragedy. It’s so crazy that it happened the day after Dick Van Dyke’s 100th birthday. It was Rob Reiner’s father, Carl Reiner, who created the Dick Van Dyke Show and made him a star. I’d hate to be the one to tell him the news.
