FLYOVERS:

  • Giga Texas: Joe Tegtmeyer (@JoeTegtmeyer), 6th of September, '24. Emergency tunnel grading continues. Tons of castings line the north and east sides of the factory. Joe counts over 100 transformers on site!

  • Giga Texas: Brad Sloan, 5th of September, '24.

  • Giga Nevada Semi Prototype Factory: Zanegler (@HinrichsZane) 5th of September, '24. 26 brand new Tesla Semis! "Fresh off of the prototype production line! They seem to be hitting their stride and increasing the pace of production."

■ SPACEX:

- Last night, launch 90 of Falcon 9 NORL-113 launched from Space Launch Complex 4E (SLC-4E) at Vandenberg Space Force Base, California. This was the third batch of satellites for a reconnaissance satellite constellation built by SpaceX and Northrop Grumman for the National Reconnaissance Office to provide imaging and other reconnaissance capabilities. This was the 20th flight for the booster. It previously launched Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich, DART, Transporter-7, Iridium OneWeb, SDA-0B, and 14 Starlink missions. The booster landed on drone ship Of Course I Still Love You in the Pacific Ocean. Great pic by Lavie Ohana (@lavie154).

- As expected, Starship 31 left Mega Bay 2 and rolled to Massey's Outpost. This is Ship 31's second trip to the test site. Previously, it was cryo-tested. Now that the Raptor's are installed, we will see a Static Fire very soon! Pic by John of Groundtruth (@GroundTruthPics).

- Speaking of Massey's, Test Tank 16 got frosty last night as it underwent its cryo-testing.

- And speaking of cryo-testing... at the McGregor test site, the new Starship V2 Header Tank that arrived last week got frosty yesterday.

- Current state of the Chopsticks show just how much work SpaceX is putting into them for the IFT-5 catch. Yesterday they performed 5 individual slow catch tests, all ending in different locations. It's getting real folks! Pic is also by John of Groundtruth (@GroundTruthPics).

Countdown to 144 (86 - Falcon 9, 1 - Falcon Heavy, and 2 - Starship):

  • Launch 91! Friday, 6th of September, at 3:38 a.m. ET, Falcon 9 Polaris Dawn will launch from Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) at Kennedy Space Center, Florida. This will be the first mission of the privately funded Polaris program. This mission is to last up to five days in orbit, fly higher than any previous Dragon missions, perform the first-ever commercial EVA with SpaceX-designed spacesuits, orbit through portions of the Van Allen radiation belt, conduct medical research, and test laser-based Starlink communications. The booster will land on drone ship Just Read the Instructions in the Atlantic Ocean. Above pic by Greg Scott (@GregScott_photo) from this morning of Polaris Dawn waiting on Pad 39A.

  • Launch 92! Thursday, 12th of September, at 4:52 a.m. ET, Falcon 9 BlueBird Block 1 will launch from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral, Florida. This is the first of five commercial satellites in SpaceMobile's cellphone-compatible broadband constellation. In orbit, they will provide connectivity for smartphones outside cellular coverage in partnership with mobile network operators (MNOs). The booster will land at Landing Zone 1 (LZ-1) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

■ THE BORING COMPANY:

- I called it! Prufrock-3 is in Las Vegas! Only 12 weeks after completing the Cyber-Tunnel at Giga Texas, it has completed its first tunnel for the Vegas LOOP! According to TBC, after upgrading several systems to the Prufrock-4 specs, Prufrock-3 will launch again on the 30th of October.

In the above pic and porpoising video posted by TBC, you can see the Westgate hotel and monorail in the background. TomNTex (@TomNTex1) believes this is the new LVCC South Hall station coming from the Central station. If you look at the pics posted by Michel (@Mic_VegasSphere) on the 4th, he is right. This connects the Encore and Paradise tunnels.

- At Giga Texas Boring crews continue to work on the interior entrance of the Cyber-Tunnel. Pic from today by Joe Tegtmeyer.

■ NEURALINK:

- At the NEXT Canada event, Jon Piett, Founder of LOTUS Sleep Products, met Shivon Zilis (@shivon) of Neuralink in Toronto where she gave a speech on the company. Jon got to ask some questions; What could the future of sleep look like? Could we somehow hack our sleep, cut down from 8 hours to 4 hours of sleep, deeper sleeps that could help repair or avoid conditions like Alzheimer’s or dementia? Jon said Shivon was excited and curious and said, "Maybe! We would need to understand more about that part of the brain. It turns out we don’t know nearly as much about the brain as we think."

■ STARLINK:

- The FCC Commissioner Braden Carr's (@BrendanCarrFCC) letter to Brazil's communications regulatory agency ANATEL on blocking X and freezing SpaceX:

"These punitive actions — publicly supported by the Lula administration — are already widely reverberating and undermining confidence in the stability and predictability of Brazil's regulated markets. Indeed, U.S. business leaders are now openly questioning whether Brazil is on track to become a non-investable market.

Judge de Moraes decided to enforce his decision by freezing Starlink's assets, even though Starlink is a separate company with different shareholders who have not broken any laws. Judge de Moraes did not respect the universal and basic principles of transparency, fair notification and due process."

- Daniele Tassara of Carnival is in Monte Carlo, Monaco, using Starlink Mini. "Starlink is definitely unbeatable! But this time I think that the software is the key. I'm using it outside my window as I’ve no balcony, the visibility of the open sky is drastically reduced by the surrounding buildings. Despite that, I’ve achieved 88% of link uptime."

- This Starlink was installed at the local school of rural Pucará, Salta. This is the first of a hundred Starlinks that Frávega donated to UNICEF Argentina for its Rural Secondary Schools via the Technologies (SRTIC) program. The Starlinks will be installed in different rural areas of the provinces of Salta, Jujuy, Tucumán, and Chaco and will allow more than 1,700 boys and girls to finish high school without having to leave their community.

■ X:

- X's Global Affairs Lead, Nick Pickles (@nickpickles), announced he is leaving the company today after +10 years of service. "The constant across my time at Twitter and X has been the amazing people I've worked with inside and outside the company... I made the decision to leave several months ago and I'm grateful to Linda Yaccarino for her support and partnership as we've worked through the transition. It's been an incredible journey."

- X has added a timeline to the Community Notes tab where Top Writers can see posts with pending Community Note requests. This is to easily help where help is most wanted.
