The kernel of this scene made it's way into my sketches a couple years ago when I was looking for ways to show off raccoon paws in indulgent yet surprising ways, and for some reason I imagined her propping up some recreational glassware with her feet. A delicate maneuver to be sure. I even finished some early linework, but I just didn't love it enough to take it to color.

Recently I was inspired to revive the concept with Juno, the idea being that she's settling in for bed and engaging in some wind-down activities so she can sleep peacefully through the night, being plagued with occasional-but-debilitating insomnia and either all out of cannabis-infused gummies or too impatient to wait for them to kick in. Assuming her feet are capable enough to prevent her bed getting drenched in fresh bong water, this usually does the trick.

I've had my own battle with insomnia and sleep quality issues. One I've been fighting most of my life. After trying loads of Z-drugs to get through the night, it ended up being CBT-I that helped me. And it seriously helped me. And no, I'm not in the pocket of Big CBT, but give it a look if you're a fellow insomniac. There's cheap apps out there that take you through the program.

Always look for an excuse to show off those paws! Love the way you draw them!

Kiko

This is absolutely beautiful. Does Juno now have "humanoid paws/feet"?

Xiscapia

I sympathize with the insomnia and using cannabis to cope with it. May Juno have sweet dreams! Your art is as enchanting as ever.

Really lovely, and your raccoon girl is very pretty too! Sorry to hear about your battle with insomnia. I struggle to sleep, not to that extent fortunately, but I can definitely sympathise. I’m glad you’ve found something that helps.

Kalahari

I guess I'm not choosing the easy way to show them off either :P

Kalahari

They're a little more humanoid in this one, at least as far as toe sizing goes.

Kalahari

Insomnia sucks, and it can be real hard to break the cycle. It's a good thing she's found a way around it, but knowing her there's pleasant side benefits she gets from her medication too. I've heard that some folks experience fewer dreams with heavy cannabis use... I don't know how common this is though. Not something I've encountered!

Kalahari

It's an insidious problem, and hard to break out of when it gets bad enough. Yeah, I'm a little sad I didn't finish up that raccoon girl, but I do like the Juno pose better in the end!

Admiral Storm

It would appear you have not lol. Still nice!

Xiscapia

I can confirm that cannabis use inhibits your ability to remember your dreams. IIRC you still have dreams, you just don't remember having them. This can be a mixed blessing; I've had good dreams without cannabis, but I've also had terrible nightmares. Some dreams aren't worth remembering...

That's definitely a new look for her, and I can't get enough of that foot action.

Personally, equal toe sizing looks better on her, more akin to traditional paws :P

I have opposite kind of issue. I need to sleep a lot, it's non-negotiable, the quota must be met, during the day too if need be. It's probably much less of a problem than insomnia but can get infuriating in its own right. There are days when hardly anything gets done because of it.

Kalahari

Sleep issues of any kind can be insidious. They just seem to grow if left unchecked. Do you at least wake up from naps feeling well rested? I never have luck with that :P

Xaotherion

It depends?... It is pretty unpredictable, sometimes I wake up feeling well rested, sometimes I just keep being groggy and have to concede that this day is lost. Curiously though I'm much less affected if I have stuff to do outdoors and a lot of it. Looks like it's actually environmental somehow but in "non-linear" ways which makes it hard to control.
