UNCLE SAM?! What an absolutely wild episode to come back to after vacation… but I’m NOT complaining. This was entertaining!

The girl at the beginning is Stargirl (Courtney Whitmore). She is a successor to the originally Golden Age hero, Starman, which has been a family mantle passed down since the original Starman (Ted Knight) created the Cosmic Rod. Long story short, Stargirl inherits the Rod and it gives her power over energy manipulation and gravity. Mantis is a New God from Apokolips, hence why he is so powerful. He serve under Darkseid. Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters are a real group of characters from DC. Uncle Sam himself is an immortal, spiritual entity who represents and personifies America and its people. His powers and abilities are tied to the nations belief in American ideals such as liberty, and he often acts as a mentor figure. He is a Golden Age character. I personally love this episode and Uncle Sam as a character (and by extension, the Freedom Fighters) because he represents the ideals of all free people, even if he’s tied to one nation. He personifies what America should and can be.

As I recall, all of the Freedom Fighters were originally owned by Quality Comics, same as Plastic Man. So having them all together in this episode was a nice nod to their origins.

Ah. That makes sense with the stars and all. Interesting lore too. Wonder if we will being see her again. 👀
