What a TWIST! The reveal was definitely cool, but yeah… I’m NOT okay with Takeru getting replaced like that. XD It really does make you look back and realize he fully lived the “decoy” role to the fullest, especially taking those Oni Fireballs like a champ.

Drop your thoughts below and enjoy the ride!

Best Bae has Arrived (That twist worked well in Power Rangers Samurai too as the female Red was the best actress in that show)

Maskedman

I was waiting for the twist to happen. I also agree with you, Tanba is annoying (I can't tell if I prefer to hear Tanba's voice or nails on a chalkboard) lucky we only have 4 episodes left to hear the racket from his mouth. I also think I can predict the final 4 episodes (mostly based on the Samurai episodes)

If you go back to the very beginning of that show, they were hinting at this from the beginning and it explains so much about Takeru. Him not wanting to bring the other Samurai in. Him getting upset when they put their lives on the line for his and even more upset when they insisted that because of the sealing script his life was more important than theirs. The monster in one of the early episodes saying he was telling a really big lie. Also, everyone hates Tanba.

The reveal is finally here! I'm going to save my in depth thoughts on Kaoru till you've finished the season but for now I just want to say that even though Takeru's a top 3 red for me, I still really like Kaoru since it's really cool to have a female red and I wish it happened more often. It's so cool how the twist recontextualises the rest of Shinkenger which makes for great rewatch value. Not every season can pull off twists like this, but you can see that from the very beginning this has been consistently informing how Takeru's character has been written right from episode 1. Also, obligatory fuck Tanba. He's such a POS to anyone who's not Kaoru, it's one thing if he's being mean to Takeru and Genta, but he's not even being particularly nice to Hikoma or the four retainers either. That said on rewatches now that I'm not dealing with the shock of the reveal Tanba is very funny how over the top his character is.

The layers. ❤️ Screw Tanba.

Anriku

Facts man. Such a great character.

I feel like I'd be less harsh on Tanba during a rewatch too.
